Beth Squadron Weekly Report #1 - 04/28/2003


Greetings all, and welcome to the first squadron report of my 2nd tour as Beth Squadron Commanding Officer. I really can't describe how great it is to be back home in Beth and Wing III. Though things are a little slow right now, I'm hoping things will pick up across the board in the coming weeks.


Squadron News:

--Major Cray Mikalen was appointed Beth Squadron CMDR

--CM Drak has been promoted to Flight Leader of Flight 2. Congrats!

--"New" Beth Squadron Logo. The new logo, which is attached, was created by Major Loor, formely a long time pilot of Beth Squadron.

--Beth Squadron Nickname and Motto updated: Nickname: Banshees of Wing III. Motto: For the Oath, the Order, and the Empire.

--Flight One has a new nickname and motto. Nickname: Dark Guardians. Motto: Victory through Vigiliance.

--Flight Two has a new motto: Cry out our name with your dying breath.

--Thanks CM Drak, I now have access to the website he set up for Beth, and I will be posting news there frequently. I highly recommend everyone bookmark the squadron website, because it will be a valuable tool in keeping up with the current events in the squadron.

--Beth Squadron Standing Orders:

I have implemented three Squadron Standing Orders for Beth Squadron. These orders are in effect at all times, and can only be overruled by order of the Wing Commander, Commodore, or Flight Officer.

1st Squadron Standing Order: HAVE FUN! The Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet, the TIE Fighter Corps, the SSSD Sovereign, Wing III, and Beth Squadron all exist for one reason: For you to have fun! This is the golden rule of the Emperor's Hammer and the TIE Corps, and now the same is true for Beth Squadron. Due to this order, everyone is expected to participate in all squadron, wing, ship, and fleet competitions. I know no one in this galaxy that considers doing nothing to be a fun activity.

2nd Squadron Standing Order: Maintain consistant communication with your Commanding Officer and Flight Leaders. Your CMDR should hear from you AT LEAST once per week.


Squadron Orders:

--Participate in week 4 of the Sovereign League! Fly TIE-Free 183, XvT-Free 135, and XWA-Free 98 and submit them to MAJ Cray Mikalen (bigredf1418@attbi.com) by Thursday, May 8th. This will allow me to compile the submissions and get them to the judges by Friday, May 9th. Good scores are needed for the squadron to do well, so I ask that you put in your best effort with these missions. I'm not asking everyone to gain high scores, and frankly I don't expect you to. Just sending in a submission will make me happy, but it would be great to see Beth pull out of her slump with several great submissions this round. If you fly it and feel like you did pretty well, post a hints guide on the list to give everyone your opinion on the best way to beat each mission. Hopefully by combining our efforts we'll be able to devise a strategy that gives everyone a pretty nice score.

--Beth Squadron High Ace Competiton: I have submitted a competition to the TO for approval. It will be a monthly competition between the members of the squad. Each month, a XWA-Free mission will be picked and you will be given one week to complete it. The highest scoring pilot will win a IS-BW. He or she will also receive the title of Beth Squadron High Ace and Spoon Warrior for the month. The competition will usually begin on the first monday of the month, however for May it will begin on May 1st, which is a Thursday. On a few random months, I will declare the lowest scoring pilot the winner. This rule variation will be announced prior to that month's competition, so you all will know to try for a low score instead of a high one. But this will only happen perhaps 3 months out of the year, depending on how evil my mood is that week. :) As I said, this competition is still awaiting approval, and I will keep you informed of any changes to the current set up.

It really is a honor to command this squadron again. We've got a long way to go if we're going to live up to the Beth Squadron of the past, but I think we can do that, and even more. I can tell you for sure that Beth never had this many citations, at least not that I know of, during my time in the TIE Corps. :) With luck, we'll be able to raise this number to 100, and beyond!
