Hey Report # 60 (2003-04-20)

This report was submitted by LC Josh Popelka

Hey Squadron Report for April 5th through 20th, 2003.

Hey Hey! Time again for another Hey Squadron Report! It's been delayed way too many times, due to nice weather, and my return home from school for Easter. My apologies to everyone for this. Anyway, back to the report! We have some good news, so let's do it!

SQUADRON NEWS
-------------

We have a new pilot in Hey Squadron! Give a big Hey Squadron welcome to LC Death! He comes to us from the Reserves, so we'll have to shake the dust off of him. ;P

Because of the warm weather and my slacking off outside, I didn't get around to installing VS .NET. Website updates are still on hold. I'm home for Easter (took a day off of school to boot), so I'll see what I can do when I get back on the 20th or 21st.

Since I've been getting pilot files for Top Ace from the same couple of pilots, I'm going to do something a little different. I'm going to assign a TIE battle. It might be long, but it's an extremely funny battle; TIE-TC #170 "The Barnyard Beatings" by COL Beef. Those who do not laugh will be shot! :P

Hmm, I think that about covers it for Squadron News.

WING NEWS
---------

My reign of terror ended a couple of days ago. I behaved myself. BADLY! >:) The important thing is, no lives were created or destroyed by my actions as A-WC. :P

CM Dierdre "Die" Varn has returned to Daleth Squadron. Welcome back!

For more Wing News, read Ash's next report. :P

Wing X WC
09:55 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Following RA Sephiroth's elevation to ChalCOM, the position of Wing X Wing Commander is now open to applications. Those wishing to apply must be able to meet the following requirements...

A tour as Squadron Commander for no less than FOUR consecutive months and the minimum rank of Captain
Familiarity with all TIE Corps and EH protocols, policies etc
Familiarity with the workings of TIE
A quick email response time and decent IRC presence
No serious HCI convictions within the last 12 months
All other requirements detailed in the Training Manual

All applications should be sent to Admiral Krax and Rear Admiral Sephiroth with the subject "Wing X WC" as soon as possible.

Flag Officer Appointments
09:43 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
With the recent removals in the Avenger Task Force (see the upcoming FO report for all the details on this), I've selected all the replacement Flag Officers. Congratulations to...

~ Rear Admiral Ranthier Khaen - promoted to Vice Admiral and Battlegroup Commander of the ATF
~ Rear Admiral Charles "Demos" Spencer - appointed Commodore of the SSD Avenger
~ Colonel Mell Kerrigan - promoted to Rear Admiral and ISD Subjugator Commodore
~ Major TK-2107 - appointed to Wing Commander of Wing XX
~ Colonel Sephiroth - promoted to Rear Admiral and Commodore of the ISD Challenge.

Many of these Officers have a hard task in front on them, repairing damage to the ATF. Please show them your support and appreciation when you get a chance. Thank you.

BGCOM Promotions
05:26 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
The recommendation I sent to GA Ronin and SA Astatine:

Sirs,

I would like to recommend the promotion of two individuals to Admiral today, Vice Admiral Krax Tarnisar, BGCOM of the TC Battlegroups, and Vice Admiral Darksaber, Aggressor Strike Force BGCOM.

Both of these Flag Officers have held their positions for many months now, and during this time they have proven their competence and commitment to their position without fail. They are utterly reliable Officers, continually working to help their commands grow and improve, often with their due credit. Without them my job would be considerably more difficult, and I regard them as vital members of the EH.

These promotions have been approved, so many congratulations to Admiral Darksaber and Admiral Krax Tarnisar!

TCC:XvT open for applications
02:46 - AD Marcin Szydlowski [pbmike@go2.pl]
With the resignation of LC Pellaeon, I've opened TCC:XvT for applications. You can find all requirements in latest TAC report. Good luck to all who wish to be TAC's slave :)

Clarification
12:44 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
This statement from the Fleet Commander posted today on one of the forums should help clear up a lot of questions...

Until I receive at least acknowledgement of their acceptance of my 'terms" posted at: http://www.emperorshammer.org/news.htm (sent to Firefox & co. 3 times along with a demand for a response), EH members that join their group (that has unrightfully stolen EH property) will not be welcome in the EH. If you are unsure what to do, please sit tight and do nothing...Since you will have not JOINED their group, you have not left the EH...

As always, please email me if you have any specific questions.

TIE Corps Meeting
05:04 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
I thought it might interest our members to know that last week's TIE Corps meeting hit a record number of attendees, a high of 106 people...

My thanks to all those who attended. Congratulations to Captain Zexiphir Van Taelyan who receives an Iron Star - Bronze Ribbon for winning the trivia. A reminder that TIE Corps meetings are held every Sunday in #tiecorps at 9PM GMT / 4PM EST. For those of you unfamiliar with IRC, a good place to start is the IWATS mIRC Course.

Praetorian Recruitment Competition
01:37 - MAJ Turr Phennir [mparkes@iprimus.com.au ]
Pilots of EH, let it be known to you, that Praetorian Elite Squadron searches for brave men and women who would like to serve among the best of ID. If you want to prove to Praetorian CMDR and to yourself that you are worthy of becoming one of us, participate in Praetorian Recruitment Tournament. Following the old tradition of Imperial Red Guard, you need to prove yourself in combat. The one who will come triumphant from the trials (highest total score in all 4 free missions given) will be awarded FL spot in the squadron, while 6 next will be given chance to become FMs. This challenge is open to any pilot of fleet, no matter of rank, record or position but you must however be free from any HCI Cheating Conviction.

All participants must mail Praetorian CMDR - MAJ Turr Phennir and Praetorian XO - COL Andrzej Mezynski, no later then by 23rd April with email subject "Praetorian Recruitment Tournament".

Recent Events
12:08 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Greetings TIE Corps.

As I'm sure most of you are aware by now, there have been some serious events with the Dark Brotherhood over the weekend, the details of which can be found on the main EH page. This is a significant turn of events that will have implications for many TIE Corps members who have friends in the DB, or are members themselves. I understand this will be the topic of conversation pretty much everywhere, so I ask people use common sense...please don't incite or flame the issue unnecessarily. I also request that everyone, whether you have a decision to make or not, carry on as normal. Those of you in command, continue to do your jobs...make sure those under you remain informed as always.

An EH Oath of Loyalty has been created in light of all this. Whilst I'm not keen on the "oath" part, I think it's an excellent way to show your support for your fellow pilots, superiors and the TIE Corps. Whilst signing it is certainly not mandatory, I encourage you to do so. EH Oath of Loyalty.

As always, I'll be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

EH/RS Competitions
08:29 - RA Darknyte [darknyte@alltel.net]

I've gotten many questions lately by people who want to hold competitions with the RS now that we've formally allied with them. This is great and actually encouraged by not only myself, but GA Ronin as well. I just want to lay down the proper procedures to make sure things get done and the comps can happen. When you make initial contact with the RS regarding a competition, you must CC the LA, TO, and COO(If an MP comp) on your emails. We will need to be apprised on what is going on. After you get your competition set up and approved by all parties, send in a Competition Approval Form if you plan to award medals, if not just have your comp and win some glory for the EH.

I hope this will help a little bit to eliminate some of the confusion regarding this subject, and good luck in your comps.

Nicked by Razors
07:40 - VA Kyle Katarn [Kyle.Katarn@isdcolossus.com]

There is a new Competition where we can play. You can find the information in the Combat Calendar and on the BSC Website. If you got questions please mail me.

SQUADRON ORDERS
---------------

FLY! Anything, everything. TIE-TC #170 if you have TIECD or TIE95.

Communicate! My inbox is mostly cleared out at the moment. I'll be back at school shortly and will need something to do. Feh, homework, you say? Ha! I have a system, I procrastinate until the last possible second. That second has not yet arrived!!

Write fiction, create graphics! Website is still kinda Spartan.

Seems like there should be something else, but I can't remember what it is. Since I can't remember and am too tired and lazy to look at my past reports, you don't have to do whatever it is I'm forgetting to order you to do. At least until next week's report.

Have fun!

MISCELLANEOUS
-------------

OK, I'll admit it right here and now. I'm a geek. I bought X2: Wolverine's Revenge for my GameCube a couple of days ago. Pretty sweet, though it does have one or two annoying little quirks to it. Biggest one I can think of now is that when you go through a door, the camera sometimes switches focus and this can cause problems, especially if you're trying to sneak up on a guy or prevent one from reaching an alarm. Some of the stealth strikes are incredibly brutal. For example, you can sneak up on enemies from behind, in a crouch and yank their feet out from under 'em with Wolverine's claws. They do a little face-plant and then Wolvie sticks 'em in the back. There are also some brutal finishing moves that you can pull off in combat. Most excellent...

Splinter Cell is going well back at school. I've made it to Langley, CIA Headquarters. I only wish the CIA guards had the same orders about killing that I do... Oh well, almost got the SC-20K. Once I have that, and out of Langley, everything will be good...

I think that about covers it for this report.

Thanks,

Lieutenant Colonel Josh Popelka
