Flayer Squadron Weekly Report #7
CMDR/LC Kenath Zoron reporting in for Flayer Squadron this week ending June 22nd, 2009.

Welcome all to the 7th much delayed instalment of the Flayer Squadron WSR. Life got hectic and busy, I apologize.

Virtually everyone has contacted me at least once, but I do still like regular checkups! Drop me a line after each report just to keep me updated, even if all it says is "Hey, work/school/wife/kids are keeping me busy, will get flying/writing/IWATing soon as I can again." Honestly, I understand having a life - proof is in the delay of this report! Just let me know you're alive and I'm happy.

Squadron News:

  • Alright, there's a fair bit of news across the board - new appointments and promotions:
    • To start, CONGRATULATIONS to CPT Ard Royber for his promotion to FL of Flight II.
    • On a related note, LCM Topace31 has been moved to the FM position 3-4.
    • Again, Congratulations are in order for newly minted LC Miles Prower! Our WC is providing drinks for everyone based on his higher pay grade now!
    • A few CMDR vacancies were filled too - Blue Squadron is now commanded by CPT Judarrl and Green Squadron is now under control of CM Polo. Congrats to those two as well.
  • The squadron has nicknames and mottos now! Check the roster at the bottom of the report! I took pity and didn't make them embarrassing.
  • There is a run-on on the forums that has just started today in regards to some "Subprime Sandwiches" here: http://eh.stryfe.net/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1027 Great, easy way to make yourself seen and heard if you can't fly.
  • Golden Tug Awards are on. Rules have been tweaked slightly in that you now have to have flown the battles that you wish to vote upon. Fly them and vote on them. The full list is here: http://eh.stryfe.net/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=860 I will be focusing on flying as many as possible, and I think this is a great opportunity for our Squadron to make our presence felt.
    • They end on the 30th. Still a week left, I really want to see a few pilot files across my desk for them.
  • SOO wants people to upload their uniforms - use Tempest's Tailoring Tool 2 here to make it: http://so.emperorshammer.org/TTT.zip If you submit one, let me know and I’ll be sure to note your activity.

Squadron Status/Comps:
There are a few competitions running at the moment:

  1. Dempsey's PC Game Mania
    • Three weeks in a row, you'll get 10 screenshots from classic PC games. 1 point per correct answer. Every week, there's a IS-SR/IS-BR for the winner. At the end, there's an IS-PR-IS-SR for the top 3
  2. SP Ace of the TIE Corps, June 2009
    • Fly the most missions to win the title. First gets title and IS-GW; Second gets IS-SW and third gets IS-BW; All earn much love from me if you're in this squadron :P

Miscellaneous:

  • I really love seeing pilots on IRC as it’s a very easy way to get in touch with everyone and also lets us build some squadron/ship camaraderie. For those of you unfamiliar with IRC, this is a perfect opportunity to take some SIMPLE IWATS courses (m/IRC 1 and 2) and learn how to use the programs. The main channels you should be familiar with are #emperor’s_hammer, #tiecorps and #ISD_Subjugator on the Undernet servers. I’m in all three quite frequently under Zoron or LCZoron. Feel free to hang out and chat at any time.
  • IWATS courses are coming back up - take a look over there and take a few that you haven't yet. I've taken a handful already and had fun (and learned a few things) and they don't take a ton of time (well, except SM/4 :P) http://iwats.isdchallenge.org/
