Welcome to the newest Kappa Squadron report.
Six exams done, three to go. Yay, almost through. :P
I may even find some time to work on the Kappa homepage today, as well
as do some overdue BSFing. And there's also that battle we have to fly
for the SL semi-finals against Praetorian.
I will send some tips for it again, but don't wait for them... you can
actually start with the first mission already, I won't be able to help
you much there anyways. It's basically about killing Muurian
Transports (yes, those dang flat ones which you can hardly hit with
lasers, move fast, and pack quite a punch with their laser turrets) in
a TIE Interceptor (yes, those with the dumbest laser placement of them
all, so that you don't hit anything). Well, at least you have some
shields. :)
If the other missions are of the same kind, it really will be no fun.
But well, let's hope the best. :P


Squadron News
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

- In spite of the kinda low participation of 4/6, we have beaten Pi
squadron without greater difficulties and have advanced to the
semi-finals of the SL. There, our next opponent will be Praetorian,
and they'll have a 5% advantage because they placed higher in the
playoffs table. Without the smallest doubt, we can beat them even
though... IF every single Kappan does his best. This is a teamwork
task, boys... and as we have only 6 pilots, a single zero score
is likely to be enough to kick us out of this comp.
But we can do it with a combined effort.
Praetorian isn't more elite than we are just because the TC roster
says so. We've proven that in the past. Let's prove it again.

- The Wing II homepage has been declared site of the week by the IO,
and received four stars. That's now the third time one of my designs
received that honour. Yay me. :)

- From FO/HA Priyum: Illegal Recruitment
Over the past few weeks I've received a shocking number of
complaints from CTs on Daedalus in regards to being spammed by
members of the TIE Corps with offers to join their Squadron. THIS IS
NOT ALLOWED!
You are permitted to email CTs offering only your help. You cannot
sell your Ship or Squadron to them! Considering the nature of the
complaints and the volume, myself and SO/AD Zoltar have taken steps
to curb this. Several decoy CTs have been placed in all THREE
companies to catch those who break this rule. These people will then
be punished in accordance to our laws.
Illegally recruiting CTs can do more harm than good. Many CTs are
driven away by the constant spam and it's grossly unfair to those
Ships and Squadrons that do not stoop to such practices. It will no
longer be tolerated.

(Note from Tempest: Kappans who wish to contact cadets on the
Daedalus (which is of course appreciated) should always CC me. That
way, I can track your activity *and* check your mails for conformity
with the rules.
And, if someone should accuse you of violation, you can say it was
all my fault. :P
I just passed on that warning from Pri to you for your general
information and warning. It doesn't affect us directly as Shimir's
recruitment mails (or cadet contact mails, if you like that better)
have always followed the rules. Just to make that point clear.)

- Training Office & IWATS Vacancies (AD Keldorn Cochrane)
There are several vacancies within the Training Office and the
Imperial Weapons and Tactics School that are to be filled shortly.

Training Office Assistant (TOA) Open for Applications

Due to the reluctant removal of Major Taralis from the position of
Training Office Assistant, the position is once again open for
applications. The successful applicant will be duly considered for
elevation to the position of Command Attaché in the future. The
requirements are:

- An active member of the Emperor’s Hammer.
- Holding at least the rank of Commander (or equivalent).
- No serious HCI convictions within the last 12 months.
- A high-level of online activity (IRC, Fast e-mail turnaround).
- Above average talent & experience in creating/managing websites
(HTML).
- Excellent grasp of the English language.
- [Optional - Desired] Knowledge of ASP.
- [Optional – Desired] Knowledge of PHP.

Graphics (GFX) Professor Open for Applications

The requirements are:

- An active member of the Emperor’s Hammer holding the rank of
Lieutenant (or equivalent) or above.
- Extensive experience in the creation and manipulation of graphical
imagery (preferably with modern versions of both Jasc Paint Shop
Pro and Adobe PhotoShop)
- Be able to grade exam submissions within 24 hours.
- Keeping Graduate Counts (total and per month).
- Maintaining/updating the Course Notes (basic HTML knowledge
necessary; or a good WYSIWYG editor).

Eggdrop (BOT) Professor Open for Applications

The requirements are:

- An active member of the Emperor’s Hammer holding the rank of

- Internet Office Report #100 - Milestone Edition! (HA Ari)
The Milestone edition of the IO Report - #100!!! (For the week
ending July 18, 2003). This marks the beginning of a celebration for
the Internet Office, 100 weeks as being the Internet Officer. This
report contains a recap of the IO's history and it's plans for the
future. Definitely something that you don't want to miss - an
insight into a famous Command Staff office!

Congratulations to my entire staff who have helped us make it to
this momentous occasion! Now let's party!!!

- Wing XI Wing Commander (HA Priyum Patel)
The position of Wing XI WC on the ISD Immortal is now open to
applications. Those wishing to apply should be able to meet the
following requirements:

- At least FOUR months experience as a Squadron Commander in the TIE
Corps
- No HCI convictions in the past 12 months
- Familiarity with the online and offline aspects of X-Wing: Alliance
- Be able to handle large amounts of email and admin within a short
amount of time in an efficient manner
- Be able to organise competitions / activity within the Wing and
motivate those under your command
- Be able to work in a mature attitude with all levels of command in
the TIE Corps
- Demonstrate that you have the drive and motivation to take command
of a Wing and ensure it's growth and success

You may include up to 2 references from current or former superiors
(get their permission first!). Applications should be sent to
Admiral Krax and Vice Admiral RogueWing with the subject "Wing XI
WC" by Sunday 20th July.

- EHNet status (HA Ari)
Just so you know, we are aware of some problems of EHNet-hosted
sites, including the main site, Sabacc Online, Code Archive,
Squirrelmail, My EHNet, among others. We at the Internet Office are
working as fast as we can to resolve the problem. MinosNIC services
are NOT affected (thankfully). The Greeting Card Center and
Newsletter Archive are not affected. We hope to resume EHNet service
shortly.

- Parallax War is about to start (VA Kyle Katarn)
Parallax War is starting today at 2:00 pm EST. Cause the EH is way
bigger then TRA or FES, EH vs. EH matches are allowd! Please join
#parallax in undernet. Standard WoW Rules apply, the scores are
reported to DarkFyre. The war is held till 31st July!

Overall winner will get a DFC!
