<Salute>

CMDR/MAJ Ardeth Mordor reporting in:

Squadron News

-Yeah, it's been a while since my last report as I've been bogged down with RL stuff.  Check out my closing thoughts for details.

Ship News

-With the recent stepping down of Eta CMDR MAJ Neko Nuwen, the search for a replacement is underway (?)  Details should be forthcoming.

-The WC would like to see more use of the Wing VIII message board, so go to http://ehnet.org/mb/viewforum.php?f=46 and post something!

Competition News

-June round of Top Gun is set, fly TIE-Free# 225 for month's end.

-New mission race competition announced by the WC.  Top two pilots with the highest weekly missions flown will receive a IS-SW and IS-BW respectively.

Official Standing Orders

Anyone not following these is subject to being removed immediately.

1. All FMs should be in regular contact with me and their Flight Leaders at least once a week via email, ICQ, or IRC etc.

2. I expect everyone to participate in all competitions, except when there is a conflict with important RL events.  If you're planning on taking a leave, make sure you update your personal profile by activating your Leave Status.

3. I want everyone to be as active as they can by flying, creating graphics, writing fiction, or creating missions, etc.

4. All Flight Leaders will report to me at the end of each week detailing which of members of their flight have or haven't reported in and what they've done during the past week. You shall forward me any TFRs, fiction, graphics etc. you receive from your pilots. You must fly at least 1 battle plus the competition mission every week or your status may be removed.

5. Fly on 'HARD' without cheats whenever in a competition.

CMDR's Corner

Another week (or two) has gone by and there's been very little in the way of measurable activity or communication.  I'll spare everyone my usual rant on activity being low, however I will remind everyone that weekly contact with me via email, IRC, etc is essential as stated in the Squadron Standing Orders.

And now...some rants of the personal variety ;P

Recently, I celebrated a couple of milestones in both RL and within the TIE Corps.  At the start of the month, I marked the 18th consecutive month as an active member of this ship and within the TC as a whole (my, how time does seem to fly ;P).  The time I have spent here among my fellow shipmates has been a fun and a truly rewarding experience.  I consider myself extremely fortunate and blessed to have served my entire tour here on the Colossus as there is simply no other ship like it, period!  Thank you to all who have worked and played tirelessly to make this ship the benchmark of excellence it is.  As Dorothy once eloquently put it:  "There's no place like home."  So, here's to another 18 glorious months on the COL!!!

For those of you don't know, I also celebrated my 30th birthday at the beginning of the month.  Yes, the dreaded milestone where everything is supposed to go downhill from as I've been told  For many of us who reach this milestone, it serves as an opportunity to reflect on the past as we look to what's to come on the road ahead.  As I look forward to the next few months, I'll be busy coordinating and preparing for a 6,000 mile relocation from good ol' Boston to my new home in Hawai'i where I'll be resuming my University studies under a full scholarship, and with luck, making this island paradise a permanent address ;D  As you can imagine, this is a huge undertaking due to the logistics of moving such a long distance (i.e. rummaging through 30 years of accumulated possessions and other junk and shipping the good junk over).  I'm planning on taking an extended semi-leave beginning sometime in mid-July through mid-August to deal with the preparations and the move itself.  I'll provide everyone with more specific dates once I have them.

In closing, I suppose my reasoning for divulging some info regarding my impending move is to obviously keep you guys in the loop as to what I'll be working towards in the coming months, yet at the same time to drive the point of taking an active role in your own successes while serving here on the Colossus cuz you just never know where all the hard work (and play) can take you...
