Pilot of the Week
This week is was really tough choosing who the best pilot was throughout the week. After some long hard deliberations, I have decided to select LCM Derf based on his overall activity and renewed dedication to the Samekh! Congratulations Derf!
Pilot of the Month
Going over the reports for the past month, I found that one pilot stood apart from all others in his activity, communication, and general support for the squadron. I therefore announce that LT Derf is Samekh’s Pilot of the Month for July! His activity and communication have been exemplary, and a model to be followed by all members of the squadron! Congratulations Derf!!.

Battle Citations
Well, despite the hard work and effort by LCM Derf to win us back six of our lost Battle Citations, the recent transfer of LCM Carl Starr to the Reserves has dropped us back to only three citations. LT Sancho has promised that he will be flying to get back the citation for TC-TIE #157, and if when he gets his XWA that he has on order he will be flying the XWA battles as well to win those back! I anyone else that has not yet flown the battles listed below to do so and help win back all of our Battle Citations that we have lost, and even help win us some new ones.

Activity
This has been a great week for activity, especially from three pilots in particular, LCM Derf, and LT’s Sancho and Bronze de Worde. All three have worked hard to be as active as possible while quickly preparing for the start of school later this month. Unfortunately we also lost LCM Carl Starr to the Reserves, and we are now down to 7 pilots. After a discussion with him on Thursday we decided that due to his schedule it would be best for him to transfer instead of going AWOL. LCM Justin needs to report in ASAP or risk being declared AWOL after this next week. Keep active Samekh! We have a Wing V vs. Wing VIII comp underway, so get those pilot files turned in as soon as possible. Be sure and read the information in the “Wing V News” section so that your aware of everything that is happening in Wing V.
Recruiting
We are still in need of new pilots gentlemen. Let’s go get those new recruits pilots! ;) We need four more pilots to be a full squadron again! Your CMDR’s personal thanks to the members of Samekh that have taken the time to recruit. I encourage everyone to send out letters offering assistance to as many CT’s as you can. Remember, no invitations to join Samekh or Wing V are to be issued. Big Brother is watching the emails sent to Daedaleus, so don’t let me receive any notifications from the FO, TO, or SO about recruiting violations.

WING V NEWS
Wing V vs. Wing VIII Comp
Our August comp is vs. Wing VIII. We are flying TC TIE Battle 13 (attached). Deadline is Aug. 15. Scores of top 12 pilots will be counted. Top scorer in each wing will receive an IS-SW, runner-up an IS-BW.
Good luck to all pilots. Go Five!
CMDR’s CUP
Graphically talented members of Wing V are invited to design a CMDRs Cup
for display on the home page of the wing that currently holds the title. A
medal will be awarded for the best design. Send submittals to me by Aug. 7.

The top-participating and scoring squadron in the August wing comp will win
the WC's Own award for the month.
Recruiting
LC Proton is now insisting that all members of Wing V get busy and get new recruits into our ranks. We are now down to 42 pilots in Wing V and we must get our numbers back up and improving!

SAMEKH WEEKY COMPETITION 2001
The topic of whether or not to continue the Samekh Weekly Competition is on the Samekh MB. So far very few have responded to it. I need more input from the entire squadron before I’ll make my final decision. Based on what comments are posted on the MB during this coming week will determine if I feel there is sufficient interest and possible future participation to warrant the continuing of the competition.
