Kappa Squadron Report - October 1st, 2001 - LC Astarosta


Squadron News

-We need new blood in Kappa. Yet another departure this week. Our friend CM Sauron Tarrke will have a hectic RL period coming up with a moving and more things, so his time for the EH will be very reduced.He was moved to the reserves, and we hope he returns soon. May the Keg be with ya, pal!

-It is a relief to know that Stalker CMDR's relatives who worked near the WTC disaster area are safe and he is back in activity. Due that our both squadrons had the comp on hold until he returned, we decided to give a big extension to it, so the due date will be October 31st. Go fly now!

-In order to shake things up a bit activity-wise, I'll make one of those intracomps we didn't have in a long time during this month. Lots of categories, and if OPS and TO agree, lots of medals. Stay tuned for a mid-week announcement.

Squadron Orders


-Kappa vs Stalker is ON!!!!! Fly TC-TIE 34 (attached) and get some highscores!! Top 6 scores from each squad will be averaged and the top average wins. An IS-BW is at stake for the top scorer. Deadline is October 31st. The more inputs we have, the better chances we have. I expect 100% participation even if the score doesn't make it to the top 6. GOOOOO KAPPA!!!!!!!

-Only 3 days for the Sovereign Surprise Flight Contest!! I want all the pilot files on Oct 3rd, remember the free missions are TIE-FREE 160, XvT-FREE 50 and XWA-FREE 29, you can fly on more than one platform, nifty awards for the top 3 places on each category. There's a zip on the Sov site with all the missions. GO FLY SOME!!

-The Wing II Pilot League season 2 is ON!!!! The deadline for the current round is 6PM GMT on Sunday 7th October and the mission is TIE-FREE 167. Send it to Algy and CC me for the BSF.

-A brand new Sov wide comp from Sin's Jack Stone, in his own words: "My competition has been approved, and I have given it the name of Jack's Ultimate Scrambele. Included in this schedule are key dates for the competition, rules, regulations and Medals to be given out.

First, the key dates:

Nov. 1st: Competition begins at midnight no matter your time zone.
Every Wednesday after: Progress reports to be handed out
11:59:59 December 31st: Final battles to be received
January 1-4: final scores posted, Wing Champions determined
January 5th, The Final Showdown: THe six Wing Champions compete in the ultimate test, it has been decided that if all pilots have XWA, the Showdown will be held in #Airlock54 during the EuroComp

Now the Rules:
1. All battles must be received between the exact times of 00:00:00 November 1st and 23:59:59 December 31st
2. Wing Champions must respond to the Showdown invitation on January 4th (seperate from the final scores) or else Wing Runner-Ups will be declared Wing Champions
3. All pilots should submit at least 4 battles and/or free missions each week
4. Battles previously flown for database may be reflown for the competition.

Regulations:
1. Absolutely no person may use invulnerability or unlimited weapons unless I rule it nessacery to use them
2. Any battle found using the above violation will not be counted for anything and will be stricken from the record
3. Wing Champions must participate in the Final Showdown.

-Advanced Guard Recruitment

I am now taking applicants to join the ranks of the Advanced Guard. The basic requirements in order to join are as follows.

- Minimum rank of LCM (MAJ for those in the Negotiation Commission and COL for those in the Diplomatic Commission)
- Mail response time of 24/48 hours
- Be able to work within deadlines set and submit a weekly report on current activities
- Responsible, and able to promote and represent the Emperor's Hammer across the world


Additionally, applicants should say why they think that they would make a good member of the Guard, and also any skills and qualities they have that may apply to the Guard. Mail all applications to Rear Admiral Osan'gar while CCing Fleet Admiral Keiran Idanian with the subject "Advanced Guard Application"

-Applications open for the Imperial Historical Society

The Logistics Office Primary duty is EH history and we are currently looking for members to join it's Staff, under the Jurisdiction of the Imperial Historical Society.

The IHS, headed by myself, are in need of worthy candidates who will ideally be veterans of their respective ships or wings. Awards up to Silver or Gold star are available for the right minded and hard working individual. Interviews, report collection, INPR's and searching through old newsletters are typical tasks.

Several teams are expected to be created. All information is welcome and a weekly update of your activities is required. For more information and to sign up for this vital duty, Please Contact Vice Admiral Oldham and Admiral Ramos.

-Imperial Storm final results

As some of you may or may not know, the latest Imperial Storm Exercise has ended (about a month ago).

As a Task Force Admiral of this years exercise, I would like to extend my thanks to Pri for making it possible, and although it ended a bit prematurely we here at Task Force DOOM had a lot of fun. I know I speak for the entire Battlegroups when I say that we're looking forward to the next IS to start, and with the recent assignment of VA Pel as our new War Officer I'm sure it won't be long.

-TCC:XvT position opened

With the resignation of Major Locke, the position of Tactical Coordinator (XvT) is opened for application. The requirements are as follows:

must have knowledge in XvT/BoP mission designing
must have passed the IWATS XvT mission creation course (XvT)
must be able to manage a team of Tacticians and playtesters
must be able to answer emails within 24/48h
no HCI conviction
The job description for this auxiliary position is available in the Tactical Manual. Please include in your applications references to possible created XvT/BoP battles or free missions, or to some work done in the past for the Tactical Office. Any experience in team managing is also to be reported. Applications are to be sent to Fleet Admiral Striker and Lieutenant Colonel Marcin Szydlowski.


-Playing custom EH battles

When you fly a free mission or battle, always make sure you have the up-to-date version, by checking the Battle Center. i don't make announcements of battle updates, which doesn't mean some are not updated... actually there are some quite every day or so, so make sure to fly the latest version. They are generally better (bug corrected or other things), so you will enjoy them better as well... I know some of you download a bunch of battles and fly them weeks after, just have a look on the last update date...!
Another thing, fly a mission at least twice before posting a bug report... if you didn't complete it at the first time, it doesn't mean it is a bug, even hot shot pilots can fail sometimes >:-)
