KAPPA SQUADRON REPORT, 13th May 2002, Captain Algaron

- The Kappa vs. Praetorian Squadron has concluded Week 3. I have uploaded all the results to the website - check the link to the competition on the Kappa HP Status page. The scores were very close this week with Prae shading us by just over 2,000 points. I top scored for Kappa, but my hopes for recording the overall top score were confounded by Prae's ace Andrzej Mezynski. Kappa has a commanding 80,000 lead going into the final week, but we can't rest on our laurels yet. For details of the Week 4 assignment check the Squadron Orders section.
- Although not official yet we will shortly be joined by another ex-Sigman ace pilot. Having seen his post on the Kappa MB I decided to approach him about a return to the Tie Corps, and am delighted to report that CM Regis Knox has decided to join us and will be teaming up with his old collegues Tod and Artyis in Flight II. I'll make an official announcement during the week once the Flight Office has approved the transfer.
- Ninja's transfer has come through and he has taken up his position as Slayer CMDR. We all wish him every success in the next phase of his career. We will need to do some recruiting work to bring up the strength of Flights I and III. Keep following up your contacts people.
- Kappa has defeated Sin in our first Squadron Competition under my leadership. The results were close, but a great score from MAJ Artyis swung the balance in our favour - a 4 KAPS point bonus is his reward for that. Anyway thanks to Stele and Sin Squadron for a good, friendly competition. Anyway the scores.......

- Dash Riprock continues to work on the KSE site. The website URL for his work in progress site is http://minos.net/~kse/news.php
- I have also commissioned Dash to start work on the Kappa Battle Board. This site will record all the battles flown by Kappa Squadron members so that we can track progress towards Battle Citations. Each squadron member will receive their own login so that they can update their battles as they submit them. It should be a useful aid to us, and I would like to thank Dash for his keen attitude for taking up the work. We will also need a graphic banner for this site. I'll give KAPS point rewards to any submissions I receive, plus the usual bonus for the one I choose to go on the site.
- Tempest is working on the definitive Cadet Help Guide. He's put a lot of effort in and I for one am excited to see the results. It will be good to replace my ageing training guide on the Kappa HP with something bang up to date. Good work Temp.
- I came up with the Flight I motto - potius mori quam foedari (Death before Dishonour) - I like the Latin phrases and I believe Tod and Artyis are working on something similar for Flight II. I also want a Latin phrase for the Squadron motto so get your thinking caps on for that.
- The latest Imperial Storm battle is imminent. At the time of writing we are about an hour away. See you all in #project_faithful.
- We have been challenged by Hammer Squadron to another Inter-Squad Competition following our Prae match-up. Although the details are not decided as yet, I will be talking with the Hammer CMDR over the next few days to confirm everything.
- On a more general note, I am very happy and proud with the way things are going at the moment in the Squadron. Our activity is up across the board, morale is high, and our reputation within the Tie Corps at large is on the rise again. I don't think we are quite at the level of Roasty's heyday, but if we keep our current level of commitment I think we can emulate that level of success. Keep it up everyone.

- Kappa vs. Praetorian Squadron - we are into the final week and the assignment is TIE-FREE 182 (attached). The deadline is Sunday 19th May. Victory is close, but we will need 100% effort until the end to secure the win. Don't let me down at the last hurdle pilots. - Recruitment - please lend assistance to CM Tempest in his efforts to recruit new pilots.
- The New Face of Kappa - Flight II is working on their motto. We also need a new Latin motto for the Squadron so get any suggestions into me ASAP.
- Kappa Squadron Encylopaedia - if you have any submissions email them to Dash and myself and I will award KAPS points for your work.
- Fiction Competition - as you know I am writing a fictional epic titled "Apocalypse Rising" - I've written the prologue, but Chapter 1 will be bang up to date and incorporate all of you guys. I therefore want you to write your own mini-autobiographies so that I get an impression of how to build your personalities into the finished work. It doesn't have to be overlong - just something that I can use to help writing your character into my story - attitudes, allignments, physical appearance, mentality etc. - be creative, but be serious. I will also publish any work on your profile page of the Kappa HP. If I could have submissions by the end of the month it would be most appreciated. I'll give 5 KAPS points for entries, and a further 5 for the one I judge to be the best. Get that creative juice flowing. Keep those entries coming in.
