Hey Report # 25 (2002-07-24)

This report was submitted by MAJ Josh Popelka

Hey Squadron Report for July 16th through July 24th 2002.

Hey Hey! Time for another Hey Squadron Report. This one is my twenty fifth report since taking command of Hey Squadron. Yay! Been kind of a quiet week, but let's do it!

SQUADRON NEWS
----------------------

Beth Squadron beat us in Round 6 of War of the Squadrons. :( Ah, well. Can't win 'em all...

We had pretty good participation in Round 7, with three out of four of us flying. Yup, I managed to fly for this round. More accurately, XWA and my video card driver let me fly.

Other than that, not much to report...

WING NEWS

Read Jahan's Wing Report when it comes out. :P

Public Apology
20:32 - FA Ari [ari@tiecorps.org]
Posted on behalf of CM Andrew...

"Salute Fellow TC and EH Members.

I am CM Andrew. I have to make an apology to make directed to all of you. In the past few days, I have been submitting Javascript code to the EH Code Archive. Most of the 22 submissions were taken from websites and it wasn't my own code. I apologize for plagarizing this and taking away the oppertunity from other people to submit their original code. I have to say that I didn't even think that it was illegal and dishonest at the time of posting, but that really doesnt make a difference. I hope this incident teaches everyone else the consequences of this and will stop anyone else from doing it. Again, Plagiarism is a very serious offense in the EH, as well as it should be. I am sincerely sorry to all EH members, especially the ones who posted regularly in the CA. Please accept this as heartfelt and a sincere apology.

In loyal service of the Empire,
CMDR-TCS/CM Andrew/Samekh/Wing V/SSSD Sovereign"

COO Leave
01:26 - VA Khadgar [khadgar1@shaw.ca]
The Combat Operations Officer will be out of town from July 21st until his return on the 31st. During that time, COOA Kyle Katarn will handle normal requests. Any extraordinary requests will unfortunately have to wait until my return.

Hosts Sought
01:26 - VA Khadgar [khadgar1@shaw.ca]
The Combat Operations Office is currently seeking General Hosts to fill in for late or absent hosts. Qualities that would help with the position are as follows:

Active presence in #EHCOC.
Able to spend many hours of time getting scores down in the proper format.
Able to quickly organize the scores and get them submitted to the appropriate COO staff members.
If you're interested, please E-Mail COO Khadgar and COOA Kyle Katarn.
Note: I will look at these upon return from my previously mentioned leave.

My EHNet - An EH'ers Home Page!
14:19 - FA Ari [ari@tiecorps.org]
One of the largest endeavors of the Internet Office has finally been released as of today! Ladies and gentlemen, it is my extreme pleasure to present to you My EHNet or also known as MyDot at http://my.ehnet.org! MyDot is a project that is completely coded by our very own IOA Alex Foley. Alex has been working on MyDot for about a month now, and his work and effort put into it matches the quality of the final result! My EHNet allows you to customize your very own EH start page with news and information from all over - TC news, BHG news, random IRC quotes, World News, Sports news, Internet news and LOTS, LOTS MORE! There are over 30 blocks to choose from and 8 different themes for the site so that you can view the site to YOUR preferences. That's not all! My EHNet comes with a fully functional EH search engine! Currently, there aren't as many links as we'd like, but we hope that EVERYONE will submit a link to their own personal EH webpages. The more sites we get, the better the search engine works! Also, CA:IO Mutilator is working on a full-indexing search engine which will not only search the sites in the database, but it will search the actual pages of each site, such as Yahoo or AltaVista. For his hard work on a simply superb site both in appearance and coding, I am awarding IOA Alex Foley a Gold Star! What I really hope is that many EHers actually do take advantage of My EHNet and set it as their homepages, and tell your friends about it too! I know I definitely will!

More info about My EHNet and the IO's new medal giveaway in IO Report #48!

SQUADRON ORDERS
----------------------

Fly! Anything, everything. Especially for the War of the Squadrons competition.

Communicate! Send e-mail, use the Message Board.

Recruit! Tell your Star Wars buddies in RL about the EH, e-mail cadets on Daedalus, post on the Recruitment MB and/or the Help/Training MB. If you have any questions about e-mail Cadets on Daedalus, drop me a line before you e-mail 'em.

Take IWATS Courses! They look good on your ID Line and you learn stuff. There are a few new ones out there, too.

I think that about covers it for this week.

Thanks,

Major Josh Popelka
