Python Report # 5 (2002-03-18)

Python Weekly Report (28/Jan/2002)

<SALUTE>

Activity has continued to be quite high for this week, some different players are starting to show up on the ISM board. Hopefully we will get closer and closer to reaching 15 points as time goes on. For this week we have a real treat. CPT Vallyn has prepared some fiction for the report, and eventually there will be a mission to go with it, and now here it is.

Dramatis Personae

Commander Johann Glorick; “Fire Eye” - Python Leader
Lieutenant Vladimir Corax; “Nightmare” - Python Two
Captain Blair Vallyn; “White Knight” - Python Three, Squad XO & technology specialist, Phalanx Tactical Officer
Lieutenant Hakavay; Python Six
Lieutenant Narnil Draenlos; Python Seven
Commander Marc Kendoran; Python Nine, Flight III Leader
Lieutenant Ace; “Ace” - Python Ten

Chapter I

  He tightened down on his flight yoke and watched the X-wing in front of him explode into stardust. The TIE pilot looped around slowly, surveying the wreckage of A-wings, B-wings, X-wings, Rebel transports, and other miscellaneous Alliance craft.
  “Excellent job, Commander,” said a deep, resonating voice over the intercom.
  “Thanks, Blair,” Glorick replied. He shut down the simulator and popped the hatch. Vallyn offered his hand to his colleague and hoisted him out of the TIE simulator. “Those A-wings are feisty little things. Next A-wing I see will eat a torp.”
  Blair Vallyn smiled slightly, which sent a chill up Glorick’s back. Vallyn’s glowing red eyes and cruel smile caused most officers to avert their eyes. Glorick had known him for years, and now managed to keep eye contact. Vallyn served well as the special task force’s Tactical Officer because no one, not even Glorick, could predict Vallyn.
  “I’m sure it will,” Vallyn replied. “Would you like to? I know of a nice light fish cruiser we could play with,” Vallyn smiled a little more.
  “I suppose we should give our new Lieutenant a fresh workout.”
  “Unfortunately, the Commodore denied me any support in any operation like this without his explicit consent in each case. So this would have to be unofficial.”
  “Sure. A training exercise,” Glorick smiled.
  “Indeed.”
  “Let’s go. I bet you have it all set up already, don’t you?”
  “That’s right. Our TIE Advanced are all prepped and ready to go,” Vallyn said.
  “Give Narnil a call and tell him to meet us at the hanger in one hour,” Glorick said. Vallyn raised an eyebrow. “I suppose you better call Marc over there as well,” Glorick said after a moment.
  “Very good. Let’s have some fun, shall we?” Vallyn’s eyes twinkled.

* * *

  “So, Captain, what’s the plan?” Glorick asked with a small trace of sarcasm laced into his voice. The four pilots stood around the four TIE Advanced aboard the Phalanx Task Force Interdictor Cruiser Artemis. The small group definitely resembled a training situation for Narnil: the three highest-ranking and most seasoned officers in the squadron were flying with the newbie. It was an honor to him to be flying with these aces.
  “This is for training and entertainment only, pilots. No heroics here. We are merely creating chaos and destruction. This is not officially endorsed by the Commodore. If we hurt one of these craft, Leeson will have Johann’s hide,” Vallyn started. “We’ll make a couple hyper jumps, with the final destination being the Light Calamari Cruiser, which is in space by itself in some sort of research mission. Thanks go to Major Yellek for providing the information. As things go…we’ll be under the call sign of Phalanx, not Python. This is part of a larger operation in this sector, but right now that’s irrelevant. This one is for fun.” Vallyn smiled. Narnil, normally rebellious to authorities, found it hard to even breathe around these esteemed officers. Their presence caused him to stay quiet.
  “Here’s how it will go,” Glorick said. “Vallyn on me, Lieutenant Narnil you stay with Commander Kendoran. If anything goes wrong, pull out immediately. Like Blair said, our craft will be identified as Phalanx fighters. Got that? Let’s rock!”

 And now, on with the report :)

XvT Week of War
00:37 - VA Khadgar [khadgar1@shaw.ca]
Today, XvT Week of War started. Pilots will have until next Friday to fly matches on the Zone against other clubs to win LoCs. Last time around, a lot of matches were played, and many awards were distributed. I hope to see many pilots come out and help the EH to once again rank amongst the top ten clubs participating. As an added incentive to participate, I intend to keep my predecessor's Iron Star rewards system for WoW Comeptitions:

The system depends on how many players are ranked from the EH. To be ranked, you must have flown at least ten matches.

If 1-4 EH pilots are ranked, the top EH pilot gets an IS-BW.
If 5-9 EH pilots are ranked, the top EH pilot gets an IS-SW, second place IS-BW.
If 10+ EH pilots are ranked, the top EH pilot gets an IS-GW, second place IS-SW, third place IS-BW.

Similar rewards will be given out to XWA WoW winners. The Competition details and URL can be found on the Combat Calendar at http://www.emperorshammer.net/combat/event.asp?record=1648. Like usual, you will be required to be registered with Battlestats. If you have any questions about Battlestats or anything about WoWs in general, please feel free to contact me at khadgar1@shaw.ca.
