As is fast becoming a tradition in Mantis, we are ahead in the Top Dog Competition, by slim 35points. Scorpion Squadron is a veteran squadron well-known for their ability to overcome the odds. Let's get together, and EVERY Mantis member put forth maximum effort. There's only one week left in this competition, so that's not a very big sacrifice for all of you to give. However, you guys are definitely No. 1 no matter what! We have come from an inactive sideline squadron to a major player in the Wing, and the Ship. Good work to you all!

Ok, here we go...
1) We have a Weekly Trivia Competition in effect. Everyone in the Squadron is invited to participate, and we would appreciate it if everyone at least gives it a try...the questions are posted new each week on Monday @ the Message Board...the prizes for the First Place winner are: (1) IS: BR, and a $10 gift certificate for Amazon.com (supplied by me hehe).
2) Every Wednesday night there is an ASF MP Competition, held in IRC channel #EHCOC. So far, the only Mantis guys who have been showing up are myself, Lt. Remlinger, and our ace Lt. Broskopf...it's a good night to play guys...alot of newer people playing...This counts toward the ASF Comp the BGCOM is holding, so tally up your scores and send them to me.
3) We have a NEW Mantis Run-On now on the Messageboard. Stop by and check it out! When we finish it, we'll post it to the EH Newsletter as a squadron project!
4) We are down to 10 Unit Citations. While this may seem bad, it's actually a result of good recruiting. So, keep pumping out those battles!
5) Mantis Message Board. It's getting used ALOT now, and I"m proud of all of you! Let's keep that thing active. Remember: 250 posts gets you a Medal.
6) The FCHG #1 Competition is OVER! Our top winner was Lt. Serge Broskopf with over 37,000pts. For this, he received an Iron Star w/ Bronze Wings! Way to go Brosky!
7) NEW MANTIS IRC CHANNEL. We now have our very own mIRC Channel on the Undernet system. The channel is: #Mantis_ReadyRoom. From now on, we will be conducting all meetings, training, and gatherings in there. I am working on getting WillyBot to come in there so we can hold Training Matches against one another, and I can come in at the end of every day and get a schedule of all matches that took place/that were won. That way, you an all get credit for training, we can see who is improving or needs help, etc. This is a great way to improve our flying!
8) Meeting Night. Please contact the XO, LCM Goad, and let him what nights would be best for you for a Squadron Meeting. THIS MEETING NEEDS TO HAVE AT LEAST 75% ATTENDANCE....this meeting needs to be held by the end of the month.
9) MiB. The Mantis Interactive Battle is back on schedule. I have begun work on Mission #1. Storyline is finished. If anyone would like to see it, please contact me.
10) ACES HIGH Competition. THIS SATURDAY , from 10 am EST to MIDNIGHT EST, in #Mantis_ReadyRoom, we will be holding the Mantis Squadron 'Aces High' Competition for the month of December. The winner of this day-long multiplayer competition will receive the title of 'Mantis Ace', an IS: BW, and permission to place the Mantis Ace graphic on his Flight's Website. 11) IMPORTANT! Good Week guys! We still, however, need to push harder...we have some guys that are on leave until Monday (Lt. Astartes), some guys caught up in some RL work (Lt. Broskopf and Lt. Vaygen), and some people who just plain out have not provided me with a decent excuse as to why they are not helping the 4 or 5 of us in the Squadron who are doing all of the work for this Top Dog competition ( YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE). So, here it is...if you want to be a part of Mantis, my rule is this: (1) Participate, or (2) let me know that you are busy...I have a life also, and I know when things get tough...it's no big deal, but INFORM ME, or (3) transfer to the Reserves NOW before I have you booted. I have been very tolerant up until now of people blowing off the Squadron without giving me an excuse. Due to the recent stress of trying to help win this competition for YOU, I'm low on tolerance...so, put up, or get out. It's that simple. I'd rather have an understaffed squadron of active pilots who want to be apart of something than a squadron full of deadbeats.
12) PILOT OF THE WEEK. This week's P.O.W. is LCM Daniel Goad. He has done a STELLAR job with Mantis, and has definitely earned this more times than he's been given it. Way to go XO!
FINAL NOTES: Next month, we will not be taking as active a roll in the Top Dog competition. I have talked with Captain Yellek, and we have decided that this competition has done nothing but create bad blood between our two squadrons. So, in an effort to be the 'better man' I have decided to not push Mantis as hard for next month. From the conversation I came to understand that Scorpion will not agree to such a 'truce', so let them do what they want...if greed is their motivation, that's fine...I think Mantis should devote December to aiding our brother squadrons in the wing in their attempt for WC Own...we are getting our shot, now they deserve theirs. Mantis needs to set an example to the rest of the fleet...one that is quickly being forgotten by alot of the pilots on the Tiger...we need to all be helping one another and making the ship better as a whole. One great squadron in a wing that will not help others is a terrible thing...so let's be the ones to do the good deeds, let's be the LEADERS. (I'll step down off of my soapbox now)
