As Roasty has some troubles with his ISP, he is on a forced leave atm
and gave me his chair for this week. Although I don't know if that
includes writing a squadron report for last week, I'm doing so because
otherwise we would have no report at all, so I think an "improvised"
report like this is still better than nothing. :P
It is clear that I can't know all your activities of last week, as I
took over the squad today, so I'll give only a very short squadron
activity section in order not to miss most of your activity.
And now, let's go for it.


Squadron News
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- This week saw the departure of another fellow Kappan who served
alongside with us as long as I can remember. Razor, we will miss
you. Fly high, get drunk and best of luck for your future life!

- "As long as I can remember..."
That means a whole year now in the TC and Kappa. Yes, I survived a
whole year with you weirdos! That achievement is however topped by
LCM Tim, who just got his second echelon to the Order of the
Vanguard. Congrats Tim!
Beer is on us two! :P

- Our competition Kappa vs. Stalker is officially over. But as Roasty
is on leave and Stalker CMDR didn't answer to his mails yet, the
real status of that comp is kinda open. If you didn't fly TC 34 yet,
you may still do so and send the file to Roasty and me, he said it
might be that they still are accepted until his return. The battle
is once more attached. All of us who can't wait until the results
are out must be patient, as you won't see them before the return of
our Roastaman. :P

- The Oktoberfest deadline has been extended due to Roasty's forced
leave, so we have all still some time to get some submissions in.

- W2PL week five is over, with seeing Roasty as the top scorer AGAIN!
Yay for the Roastydude! Let's hope, however, that Algy will grant
him an extension until next week, so he doesn't fall back due to
technical problems as it already happened last season!

- Still no end of the comp frenzy in sight :P Jack's Ultimate
Scramble, a Sov-wide comp from the hands of LCM Jack Stone, has
started! See orders section!

- And another comp! Our Wing's activity obviously knows no limits :P

- Tim's name change to Timmay is obviously STILL not approved, at
least the TC database still says Tim. So some more time for you to
say goodbye to your old name :P

- Our former WC Colonel Inkwolf requests your help! As sent by Inky:
"Ol' Inky is going to try to do some portrait
caricaturing in the noble quest for a few bucks
and spare change.

But before I do it for money, I need LOTS more
practice...especially from the kind of people who
can say "That looks nothing like me, ya fragging
moron!" In other words, you guys. :P

Yep, for a limited time only, if you'll send me a
good photo of your face, I will do my best to draw
your FREE cartoon portrait...in Imperial Uniform,
if you like. I promise, photos will be used for
artistic purposes only, not for drooling over on
long, cold, lonely nights. :P"

Squadron Orders

- The Wing II Pilot League season 2 continues! The assignment for Week
6 is TIE-FREE 157 "Crammed with Walnuts" (attached). Deadline is
tomorrow, Sunday 4th November. Good luck everyone - and remember
Algy's warning not to shoot any of the "Walnuts". As always, send
your TFRs to Algy and CC Astarosta for the BSF. Not as always,
please CC me, too, so I can spot your activity :P

- The Oktoberfest is still on! Word from Roasty: "For the Oktoberfest
I'm giving a week of extension, so keep sending the submissions for
the A-CMDR and CCing me just in case they make it. I want fiction
and graphics!!"

Here are the details again.

Divisions and awards:

Flying division - standard flying comp, top laserless scorer on
TIE-TC #182 (attached) earns an IS-BW

FCHG race division - top FCHG earner of the period earns an IS-BW.
MUST submit at least a battle a week to participate.

Fiction division - short story about Kappa's wild Oktoberfest party.
Best submission judged by me earns an IS-BR

Mission creation division - best free mission with a plotline
involving Kappa and Oktoberfest earns an IS-BR.

Graphics division - Best submission of a graphic in any medium (from
Paint to 3D renders to pencil scans to photo compositions) relating
Kappa and Oktoberfest (beer :p) earns an IS-BR

For the fiction and graphics division, I'm not looking at high
standards of quality, more to the side of originality and fun.
Anything you can come up with and amuses me will do. For the fiction
division I will demand at least 3 paragraphs.
For the FCHG race remember that you MUST submit a FREE MISSION a
week MINIMUM to participate. Also, the battles MUST be never flown
before, so it really adds to your FCHG ranking. I'll check your
profiles before submitting. High scores and MP victories will also
be counted on the total.

- Jack's Ultimate Scramble has begun!
Key Dates:
* Nov. 1st: Competition begins at midnight no matter your time zone.
* Every Wednesday after: Progress reports to be handed out
* 11:59:59 December 31st: Final battles to be received
* January 1-4: final scores posted, Wing Champions determined
* January 5th, The Final Showdown: The six Wing Champions compete in
the ultimate test, it has been decided that if all pilots have XWA,
the Showdown will be held in #Airlock54 at 17:00 EST (5:00 PM)

Now the Rules:
1. All battles must be received between the exact times of 00:00:00
November 1st and 23:59:59 December 31st
2. Wing Champions must respond to the Showdown invitation on January
4th (seperate from the final scores) or else Wing Runner-Ups will
be declared Wing Champions
3. All pilots should submit at least 4 battles and/or free missions
each week
4. Battles previously flown for database may be reflown for the
competition.

Regulations:
1. Absolutely no person may use invulnerability or unlimited weapons
unless I rule it nessacery to use them
2. Any battle found using the above violation will not be counted
for anything and will be stricken from the record
3. Wing Champions must participate in the Final Showdown.

- Sov Mascot Power Battles have begun!

"The Mascot Power Battles is the first Sovereign-wide competition in
a very long while, and the first competition of it's magnitude in
ages. This is the comp that will decide for sure who the bad boys
in the Sov are, and, considering Ford came up with the concept, he's
expecting Wing II to completely own everyone else here :P This
competition takes priority over every other comp currently running

Squadron Activity

I will not do a standard activity report for every single pilot, as
that would be unfair. I don't know all your activities, do i? :P
Next report will be the "standard" way again, though, so keep me
informed :P

What I know is that Algy updated the Kappa HP. You find it as always

He also offered to put TTT on there as soon as it is ready, so keep
dropping by there :P
Thanks go to Tim who offered to do a website for TTT, which is however
no longer necessary.
As I just talk about it, the new version is ready. Only the lightsaber
is still missing, as it hasn't been released by OPS yet. However, all
who don't need one, don't hesitate to ask me if you want a new
uniform, and I will send it to you.

Miscellaneous

- Tactical Manual updated
Version 1.6 of the Tactical Manual has been uploaded. Updates are
about Combined Arms Battles, Medals of Tactics, length of TIE
Battles, and the Cheating Policy concerning unlimited weapons in XWA
and reflying XvT missions.

- EH vs UPA!
The second round of EH vs. UPA competition starts tomorrow! Some of
you might remember the first one that took place a bit less than a
year and a half ago.
Like any challenge competition, it will be hosted by Battlestats.
Links to the war sites are available in the entries in the combat
calendar, which should be visible on the right side of this page as
well. For tips on getting signed up, see my first COO report.

- Emergence of the Sith
Emergence of the Sith - Yet another fun fan film hosted by the
people at Force.Net! This movie doesn't really have a plot, but
that's not important! This is pure Star Wars eyecandy, so watch it
for the graphics, scenary, and special effects! The large version is
about 78 mb big.

- Episode II trailer this week!
Taking from the starwars.com Homing Beacon:
Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios today announced that
Lucasfilm Ltd. has created an exclusive teaser trailer for Star
Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones that will only appear at the
head of the new animated Disney / Pixar film Monsters, Inc. The film
premieres on November 2nd in theaters across the United States and
Canada.
George Lucas commented, "I have great respect for Pixar and deep
admiration for John Lasseter and his team. I'm thrilled to be able
to show audiences their first glimpse of Episode II with Monsters,
Inc. It gives me an immense sense of pride to see our companies

***RO Comp***
Another graphics comp from the RECON Office. I know...graphics, some
people can't make them, but don't worry next month there will be one
for everyone, not just graphics people. :)
In this comp, you'll need to design either a banner or graphic for
the Imperial Survey Corps (ISC). The banner should be the size of
every other banner, about 400 x 40 pixels. The graphic should be
about the size of a splash banner, about 800 x 500 - max. The
Imperial Survey Corps searches the Internet and RL for ways to help
the EH out by letting people know about this. So, something like
Corevettes or scout ships for graphics - just a suggestion. There
will be two awards. One for the banner and the other for the
graphic. You may do either one or both! :)
