Scorpion Report # 18 (2001-12-03)

This report was submitted by CPT Ekim Yellek

Dedicated to the Vanguard, the ASF, to Ender mBind, and the glory we shall Reap. Long Live the ISD Vanguard.

Half a wing, half a wing,
Half a system onward,
All in the Sector of Death
Flew the six Squadrons.
'Forward, the Vanguard!
Charge for the Rebels!' he said:
Into the Sector of Death
Flew the six Squadrons.

'Forward, the Vangaurd!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
Not tho' the TIE Pilot knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the Sector of Death
Flew the six squadrons.

Turbolasers to right of them,
Turbolasers to left of them,
Turbolasers in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with energy and heat,
Boldly they flew and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Flew the six squadrons.

Flash'd all their silver TIEs,
Flash'd as they turn'd in space
Destroying the gunners there,
Charging a fleet, while
All the galaxy wonder'd:
Plunged in the dark-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Rebel and Pirate
Reel'd from the Torpedo-strike
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they flew back, but not
Not the six squadrons.

Turbolasers to right of them,
Turbolasers to left of them,
Turbolasers behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with energy and heat,
While Pilot and hero fell,
They that had flown so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six squadrons.

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the galaxy wonder'd.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Vanguard,
Noble six Squadrons!
