PHANTOM SQUADRON #44 15/12/01

FICTION CORNER:

I nervously walked around the Immortal hangar, where all kinds of starfighters, from Preybird fighters to Gunboats, constantly entered in random intervals. I was loosing my patience, until Mark's Tie Phantom arrived, which I easily distinguished by the "Ace" written in the lower solar panels. He came out of the cockpit, took out his helmet, and saluted me.
- At ease, Mark. - I replied - How's the battle going?
- Not easy, sir. The Colossus is putting up some heavy resistance, and the Challenge is deploying its veteran units. I'm not sure what will come out of this.
- Well, at least you did your job. Give me your craft's flight data.
Mark was going to give me his spacecraft disk, when we heard someone shouting near one of the Tie Phantom. I easily noticed it was Deimos Tie Phantom, since it had small X-Wing symbols all over the hull, enumerating his high number of kills.
- I said I want to get back in there, and I mean it! - shouted Deimos
- What seems to be the problem? - I asked. The answer came from one of the mechanics:
- Sir, LCM Deimos wants to get back into the battle, but his Tie Phantom flew already too much, and we must do some maintenance work on the engine. If we don't, then I'm not responsible for whatever might happen to LCM Deimos.
- I don't care! This baby was good last time I used it, and I'm going back there.
- Sir, your fighter might blow up or just stop in space!
- Deimos, calm down. - I started - You already went out there 3 times, you did your duty. But you can't win this on your own, so you better stay here and hope for the best.
- All right, but want this noted in case we lose. - Deimos reluctantly replied.
I was interrupted by a message on the holo-com next to me. It was message from Darksaber.
- This is the wing commander speaking. The battle ends within a few minutes. All CMDRs are ordered to bring me their pilots flight data disks as soon as possible.
Damn! "Urza" 's disk was missing. I was thinking of a proper punishment to give him once this was all over, but suddenly someone shouted "Look out!" and then saw a Tie Phantom entering the hangar too fast, and slide through the floor until it came to a stop when it hit the wall. The mechanics gazed at the wrecked craft.
- Don't just stand there, go help! - I shouted to the mechanics. The mechanics, Mark, Deimos, and I ran to the fighter, and saw that the cockpit was too damaged and could not open on its own. One of the mechanics took out a welding torch, and made a hole on the transparent hull. A pilot started slowly coming out, and Deimos and Mark helped him getting out and laying him on the floor.
- Easy, easy... OK. He doesn't seem to be bleeding. - said Mark
- Let me just take out this helmet. - said Deimos. He took out the helmet to reveal Urza's face. He slowly opened his eyes.
- Gunman? - Urza called.
- What? - I answered. Urza slowly opened one of his hands to reveal his flight data disk.
- Sir, mission completed! - he gave me the disk.
- Well done, pilot. Gentlemen, Phantom squadron has 100% activity, and so has the rest of ship!
Everyone shouted "Hurray!" and Jari showed up with a big bottle of Corellian champaigne, and opened it for the joy of everyone in the hangar. I left them party, as I walked to the bridge with a smile.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK:

Coblentz - Your a good man darksaber!

You are not in my class? Oh dear!
-Professor Richard, after I asked if I should deliver my test to him or my teacher, since I wasn't of his class but he was closer to me

BG FLAGSHIP: THE ISD IMMORTAL!!!!!

- Immortal got 100% activity: No one will forget this for a long time. Every single pilot of the Immortal stepped forward to win the ECR and bring victory and greater glory to his ship.
- Phantom squadron in its best: our squadron also played a pivotal role in this campaign. LCM Deimos managed to be 3rd Top-Gun on the final round, putting himself and his squadron among the best flying units of the Battlegroups. Fine work!
- Aftermath objective completed: well, with the left of LCM Marek, the XWA-FCHG #1 citation showed up. It would be wise for those of you who didn't flew it, to fly it now so we can hold up that citation. As always, fly those battles who are not in the citations list to enrich our glorious squadron.
