Scorpion Report # 21 (2002-02-05)

This report was submitted by MAJ Ekim Yellek

Scorpion Squadron Report for week ending February 4, 2002

Dedicated to the Vanguard, the ASF, to Ender mBind, and the glory we shall Reap. Long Live the ISD Vanguard.

Half a wing, half a wing,
Half a system onward,
All in the Sector of Death
Flew the six Squadrons.
'Forward, the Vanguard!
Charge for the Rebels!' he said:
Into the Sector of Death
Flew the six Squadrons.

'Forward, the Vangaurd!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
Not tho' the TIE Pilot knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the Sector of Death
Flew the six squadrons.

Turbolasers to right of them,
Turbolasers to left of them,
Turbolasers in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with energy and heat,
Boldly they flew and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Flew the six squadrons.

Flash'd all their silver TIEs,
Flash'd as they turn'd in space
Destroying the gunners there,
Charging a fleet, while
All the galaxy wonder'd:
Plunged in the dark-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Rebel and Pirate
Reel'd from the Torpedo-strike
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they flew back, but not
Not the six squadrons.

Turbolasers to right of them,
Turbolasers to left of them,
Turbolasers behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with energy and heat,
While Pilot and hero fell,
They that had flown so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six squadrons.

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the galaxy wonder'd.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Vanguard,
Noble six Squadrons!

based on the poem by Lord Alfred Tennyson

The hangar opened to a brilliant star the ISD Vanguard was orbiting. Rear-Admiral Bevel Leeson stood waiting in full dress as did Colonel Garik Hizad and the rest of the pilots in Wing XV. The shuttle was landing, it's name emblazened in gold on the side. The shuttle touched down in the square landing area. It's vents pushing out warm air... thrusters touching it softly to the deck.

"Formation, Atten-tion!" Snapped Leeson. The personnel all came to attention, the shuttle's ramp dropped to reveal Admiral Cyric, the Battlegroup Commander. The formation saluted the admiral and came to the position of attention.

"As you were" The Admiral said. The group all came to an at-ease. "Rear Admiral Leeson thankyou for welcoming me aboard. We have important business to discuss later, but first." Cyric moved towards the ranks of men. "Major Yellek, front and center." Ekim left the formation shocked and reported to Admiral Cyric saluting, the admiral returned the salute. "Major Ekim Yellek, on reccomendation for Rear Admiral lesson, for your outstanding work in assembling Scorpion Squadron and for serving as that squadron's CMDR for over 6 months, I hereby award you the Silver Star for excellent service and gallantry. Congradulations."

"Thanks Admiral." Ekim saluted again and returned to his spot in the formation.

In the pilot's lounge, the drinks were on Ekim. A banner had been hung by LCM Alec Qarni who had just finished his first three month tour as Flight Leader in Scorpion. It read, "Scorpion Defeats Nemisis." They had too. The winning squadron skirmish had been flown by LC Tarkin. Ekim had been very dissapointed not many people participated. Boo on those who did not.

Well there isn't to much going on right now... only the LADDER so get out and fly you Lazy Bums!!! Also there's some new policies for the Squadron which i will address later in the report... but that's all the news for now, go me and my Silver Star.

January Week of War Results
23:59 - RA Brucmack [bjmacken@engmail.uwaterloo.ca ]
Week of War results for January have been processed. If you don't get LoCs that you deserve, it probably means that I couldn't find a TC pin for you... meaning that neither your name nor email address turned up results in the profile search utility. If so, mail me your pin :)

In any case, we showed strongly in the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter competition, and not-so-strongly in the X-Wing Alliace one. In XvT we placed fifth as a club, and in XWA we placed seventeenth.

As per the new COO WoW award competition, the following people will be awarded Iron Stars:

For XvT:
IS-GW: Verr
IS-SW: Blackhero
IS-BW: Kaerner

For XWA:
IS-BW: Zoron

Congratulations to all winners, your awards are in the mail! For details on how these medals are awarded, click here for its ImperialAcademy.org competition profile.

Wing XV News
CM Erryc has gone reserves. So CM Zoron is now in charge of Mantis. Other then that we really need to recruit for the wing and the ASF so get recruiting guys really come on. We're smaller then the Mutt and we're under 50. :( so go recruit,

Transfers:
NONE. Still looking for a 12th scorpion, suggestions I know Tarkin and Hawkie were looking into a good friend of there's so I hope you guys talked to him. Though Ultima and Victor have expressed an interest to become CMDR's. Good luck to you both on finding the squadron you want. :D

Promotions:
none

Activity Reports:
Okay this is where the new policies come in. Following an example from LC Tarkin and the former Avenger squadron, you must all write me once a week with your own report of activities for what you did that week. So I have one from Tarkin... but I think i deleted it... I do know that it said he flew 9 ladder matches and has won 7 LoCs this last week... way to go Tarkin. The pilot of the week is Tarkin and last week was Hawk. Congrats you two. So new policy is once a week you must write me with what you did... i'd like to know if you flew any MP/ladder matches as those aren't reported to me. My only news is my Silver Star, thanks again.
