Demon Report # 64 (2002-04-29)

This report was submitted by CPT Roth Jalis

CMDR Roth Jalis reporting in with the 64th Weekly Demon Report on 29-04-2002

Prepare yourself cause this report is going to be looong and fun! Oh yeah! And I added 2 new sections to it.
-The first one will be at the top of every report. Every week I will make a selection of news being sent over the E-groups and which I think is important for you to know and put it in "last week news section" in case you forgot it or missed it.
-The second item will be "Episode II info section". The releasedate is coming close now very quickly and interest are definately increasing. Should anyone know of a nice site with pictures, background info, storielines, ...etc Mail the URL to me and I put it in the next report.
Other Star Wars related sites are also welcome of course.
Thanks to Bobxavi for giving me (unknowingly) the idea ;)

Let's begin with the report!!

==============================================
LAST WEEK NEWS SELECTION

-Pilots, as you all know we have started a new Wingwide Competition.
"WC's Own Competition"
The mission is Free-XWA 63. The highest overall average of the squadron will
be the deciding factor. But there is one catch to this competition. In this
competition each squadron will submit a WC's own banner along with their
average scores. The winning banner will get the squadron an additional 1000
points added to their average score. All submissions are due in Arso's inbox by
May 4th. The graphic file should be .JPG or .GIF
Send the files also to me, preferably a bit sooner so I can harass you if you haven't submitted anything yet >=)

As always sent out tips through the Demon E-group to help each other.
If you can't fly let me know as soon as possible with the reason.

-TTT Ver. 0.8
The new version of Tempest's Tailoring Tool, 0.8, with lightsaber support
(for Dark Jedi Knights) is out. Some minor bugs were also fixed. Thanks to
VA Khaine for mailing the templates!

The new TTT is available for download, as always, at
http://www.ehnet.org/~ttt/

-Project Segway launched
Under the direction of Major RogueWing, Project Segway has begun... this is
basically an Imperial conversion of XWA project, more details at
http://www30.brinkster.com/roguewing/. Any help is needed!

-New Ghost Website
COL Badlands made an impressive Ghost site with many flash features. I
encourage everyone inside and outside of Ghost to go visit it. It is located
at http://members.lycos.co.uk/acbadlands/Ghost/

-New WC Challenge
This week LT Nicolaas Vlieghe completed the WC challenge and flew all the 61
free missions and a couple battles. I have a new challenge for you all.
Whoever breaks 5 high scores in one week will recieve an ISM, and whoever
breaks 15 will recieve a PC. With this we can prove that the Immortal is
the most talented flying ship in the fleet. And just as a little incentive
CPT Banger said on IRC that no one could break his high scores so I
encourage you all to attempt at these:

XWA-TC 4 - Privateer - Mission #1 (4,162)
XWA-FREE 4 - Defend the ISD Colossus - Mission #1 (20,907)
XWA-FREE 6 - Rage Assaults Platform FK-438 - Mission #1 (5,145)
XWA-FREE 9 - Supply Transfer - Mission #1 (19,358)
XWA-FREE 24 - Operation Moonbaker - Mission #1 (27,009)

-Immortal Banner Competition
The current ship's banner is out of date and can no longer be used for formal ceremonies.
Therefore it's up to us to design a new one.
Starting Date 22/04/2002
Ending Date 7/05/2002

You have till next weekend to submit a graphic for this comp. Try to make something cool!
It's the ship's banner we're talkin about here ;)
Send your submissions directly to Darksaber and CC me.

DEMON NEWS

-CPT Soontir sent out a movie of his battle in XWA FREE 63.
While we talked about it in IRC we came to the idea that it might be a nice idea for a new competition.
Therefore after we have concluded our current competitions we will start a new competittion.
"Create the Coolest Movie!!"
It's easy, it's fun, it's gonna be one big cinema.
More details will follow later but get ready for a movie that will be better then EPI !! :)

-New email adress.
Bobxavi has a new email adress. please update your adressbooks accordingly.

-MB Graphics Competition.
It's known to all by now that our illustrous WC Arso won this little comp and therefore snatched away the IC-BR that could have been ours.
Cat Carlo made a good effort leaving my submission far behind but only missing out on Arso's by inches. ;)
Congrats Arso.

-Special note to the Flightleaders!
As Bobxavi is doing out of his one for a while already I would like from now on every week a report from the Flightleaders.
This report reflects in short the acivty of the Flightgroup. This ensures me to take note of pilot activity I otherwise might have missed.
In the end this will benefit not only my role as CMDR through the extra information but also the Pilot's benefits as I will use those reports im my MSE!
From next week I expext a short report from you guys send to me. (preferably on Sunday but otherwise early Monday.)
For questions please mail me.

-Competition with Flayer Squadron and Delta Squadron (yeah, we're gonna hit them both at the same time)

-Citations
Yeah, we wnt from 22 to 23 !!
Why I am so happy? It's an increase isn't it! ;P

CMDR's COMMENTS;
Activity is better than last week, especially Soontir who recovered as fast only a Jedi could from his lack of time due to exams.
As CMDR I'm supposed to be active ...so I was!
I'm seeing Bobxavi a lot on IRC and as always shows tremendous activty s=though it ain't always recordable.
I sure more activity is going on than I can see so I hope to solve that with the FL reports.
More activity on flying missions and battles is still preferable though.

Good news! After much demand, MySQL database support has been implemented on the MinosNIC hosting service. The system has been set up to allow for instant database creation and management over the web.

The domains tiecorps.net and squadron.org have also recently been added to the MinosNIC service.

XvT Week of War XLVI Results
11:47 - COL Brucmack [bjmacken@engmail.uwaterloo.ca]
XvT Week of War ended Friday, and we had great turnout!

The top three EH pilots were:
1. COL Tarkin
2. LT Heinrich Margul
3. GN Kaerner

As a club, it was our biggest war yet in terms of games and players. Good job everyone!

Cheating policy update
06:37 - FA Striker [striker@tiecorps.org]
Some changes about mission skipping. From now, skipping missions is strictly forbidden, various abuses led me to this decision.

Skipping Missions

You are not allowed to skip a mission in a battle whatever the reason is. All missions of a battle must be completed. You are not to use the ingame 'skipping mission' option of X-Wing Alliance. If you encounter a battle that has a fatal bug in it that prevents you from playing the rest of the battle, you cannot edit your pilot file to skip the mission. If you encounter a fatal bug, fill out a Bug Report on the Battle Center to explain why you could not finish a mission, and save a backup of your pilot file so you can finish the battle after it has been repaired. Skipping missions may lead to have the batle removed from your combat profile.

ISB's Future & CA:SO
08:35 - FA Stalker5 [Stalker5@rothwell-clieves.freeserve.co.uk]
After the recent departure of my CA, now GMF Keldorn... I have taken the step of looking actively for a new one. ISB have been notified already and been asked to submit any plans they want... The job description will be to run ISB smoothly and effectively, whilst contributing to general juditial findings. The position shall be similar in power to the former SEC. Here's a quick run-down of what I'll expect from my new Director of Imperial Security (DIS).

- Clean Disiplinary Record
- Mature attitude
- Good Knowledge of the majority of the EH subgroups
- Minimum of 1 years membership in the EH
- Minimum rank of CM (MAJ for current non-ISB members)
- Minimum of an hours online time every day, more at weekends
- Ability to be flexible
- Proven record of management and activity
- Plan for the development of ISB
- Experience in Intelligence/Security (such as INTEL would be advantageous but not required)

Deadline for applications is 6th May 2002, EST 00:00

Changing Times
00:57 - VA Pel [Palinathas@aol.com]
Slight change in plans for the upcoming Imperial Storm Battles. The big contest between the Sovereign and the Battle Groups has been postponed until Wednesday, at 1800 Eastern time, as the Battle Groups have decided to take a gamble, and perform a Hit-and-Fade attack on the Sovereign itself. The Battle Groups vs. ATF contest has now ben resolved diplomatically. If you are unsure what to do, ask your Commanding Officer.

Imperial Storm Battles
03:17 - VA Pel [Palinathas@aol.com]
Turn 3 of Imperial Storm. The BGCOMs continue their "turf war" while the Command Staff is away. Forces from the Battlegroups have conquered a new Planet, giving them an edge on production. Elsewhere Battlegroup vessels have encountered Ships from the Sovereign Group, and seperately, the ATF. Can the Battlegroups knock the Sov out of First place? Will the ATF survive until next week? Find out on Monday April 29th. As always details are at the Official IS3 Site. If you are a stationed on the Sov, in the Battlegroups, or in the ATF, and do not know what to do, ask your Commanding Officer.

Promotions
08:59 - FA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Some promotions I...uh, forgot to mention :P

Many congratulations go out to the Wing Commander of Wing X, Colonel Mairin. who has been promoted to the coveted rank of General. Since her appointment to WC, Mairin's work has been tireless in supporting and building her Wing. Congrats Mai!

Also congrats go out to the new Wing VIII WC, Colonel Indaro Gallia. A long standing member of the Wing, I'm sure the Colonel will prove to be a fine choice for Wing Commander.

Executive Orders
05:49 - SA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
Executive Orders are orders created by XOs for wide-scale enforcement of policy. They can be considered as good as any rule in the EH. I've done up a page listing all these and they're available at http://www.emperorshammer.net/orders.asp. A link is also available under the "Rules and Regulations" part of the menu.

New Battles Mirror
00:39 - SA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
Thanks to the efforts of Primarch Koral of the BHG, the TIE Corps now has a new battles mirror. It's available as the first link when you view a battle. Also, in order to even out the downloads for all the mirrors, I'd ask that if you link to a battle for a competition, please link to the battle's page (with the download link) rather than directly to the battle's zip file itself. Thanks.

New Training Manual URL
00:20 - SA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
The Training Manual has moved location. You can now access it at http://www.emperorshammer.net/to/manual/. It has been updated with the latest medal and rank images too.

Yahoo POP Mail Access
08:50 - RA Aylius Khan [lordjeffrey_99@yahoo.com]
As of April 24, 2002, members will lose the ability to use a POP Mail Client (Outlook, Outlook Express) to access mail through your Yahoo email account. I guess that those at Yahoo finally realized that they were missing out on making the all powerful dollar and have now decided to charge a fee for anything and everything.

So if you rely on an email client, as many of us do, please make the necessary changes before the 24th.
