Vav Report # 1 (2002-04-21)

This report was submitted by LC Sequoh Marden

Welcome everyone to Vav's first squadron report!

Intro, from: Navy News, Issue #3844
--------------------------------------
Major news this week in Wing III was the opening of the last inactive
squadron, Vav Squadron. The squadron's activation was not only of
special interest because Vav had been closed for at least the last 32
months, but also because all of its starting members were former Wing
III pilots and officers, mostly returning from their well-earned
retirements to be on active duty again. This "invasion of oldtimers", as
some of the younger pilots in the wing called the return of the
veterans, has several effects on the shape of reopened squadron.
Very noticeable is the high average age of the squadron's pilots. While
still being able to - technically - pilot one of the Empire's advanced
starfighters, they have in unison given up on walking altogether, have
apparently broken into the MedCorp's supply rooms and are rolling
through the Sovereign's corridors in wheelchairs.
This fact, together with their general affection for spoons in all
variations, has already earned them a mixed reputation among the other
members of Wing III. While some have appreciated their return and
honored the loyality shown by this decision, others have openly
criticised it, questioning their reaction and flying skills in general,
even going as far as wondering how they're getting into their fighters
with the obvious lack of motivation to leave their wheelchairs that's
been developed.
There have been rumors these accusations have led to the friendly
competition that recently started between Daleth and Vav Squadrons using
Sienar's recently released training package #44 in the simulators, but
those are probably just myths.
The Wing's Commander, Colonel Jahan Kalar, has welcomed the arrival of
five new pilots to his wing and is in no doubt they will integrate into
the wing's structure and activities in no time.
