Vav Report # 3 (2002-05-05)

This report was submitted by LC Sequoh Marden

Welcome to Vav Squadron report #3, take a seat and fetch yourself
something to eat *points to an extra table in the middle of the briefing
room where different variations of tomato soup have been positioned*, to
make sure you don't fall asleep while I'm repeating the news of the week
for you again.... here we go.

Intro, small battle report, missions & semi-rant
-----------------------------------------------------
The Sovereign Task Force has won its first battle! After a long and
raging battle the Sov team has achieved its first victory! In the recent
fight against the Team Force of the Battlegroups our forces have managed
to not only defend against their hit & fade attack but also destroyed
one complete star destroyer, the ISD Immortal! I'm sure this will only
be the first of a row of successes for the flagship!

Missions & Flying: When signing up for Vav you all knew there'd be some
flying involved... therefore I'm a little disappointed that Mayk and me
seem to be the only ones who've actually flown for the competition with
Wing IV so far... they almost got us and any help would be appreciated
at the moment. Besides, the mission is really simple and you should be
able to score over 7000 points without any problems on hard. Just switch
to your T/A from the start, gun down the X-Ws (no problem if you
remember to regenerate before you kill the last one of a wave) and then
slowly 'remove' the Golan station (find a blind spot, sit there and shot
straight ahead until it's dead) and all the other capital ships. Then
you're already done. Nothing difficult, probably not even half an hour
of your time.

Well, you still have a day to fly and it'd be great if Jahan and Proton
(*hint* they have to recieve your plt, not only me!) could see some more
good scores (remember it's average scoring).

News
-------
- Mayk joined Vav Squadron! Welcome to the vets! He also requested a
motto change for his flight, flew for the competition, kept in contact
with me and flew for our team during the Imperial Storm battle! Good job
for such a short time!
- Var's wheelchair has broken. He's now switching to one of the
experimental repulsorchairs. Sometimes they happen to malfunction, but
usually they work alright.
- I heard from Seth! It's great to hear you're still with us!
- As announced during last week's IRC meeting, Werdna had to leave us
already :((
- Yours truly flew for the W3 vs. W4 competition and read the EP2 novel.
It's definitely an improvement over EP1 (at least if they manage to get
certain scenes right)!

Things that need to be done
----------------------------
- Fly for the Wing competition! See above for details.
- I'm bored, contact me! ;)
- Have fun, don't get lost!

Misc
-------
Ever had a CD-ROM exploding within your CD drive? Sure, it sounds
unbelievable, but it really happened to a friend of mine today... the CD
just scattered to an enormous amount of very small pieces - nothing I'd
want to happen to any of my CDs! To make sure the device doesn't eat
another disk, its power supply has been cut off. That does also make
sure it can't communicate the idea of disobeying to its owner to other
drives it may talk to....

Have fun,
LC Sequoh "V-1" Marden, Vav Squadron Commander
