Tempest Squadron Weekly Report

(04.07.2002)
Whoops, I did it again... Another on-time report.

 Tempest Squadron Orders
Even though there aren't any comps this week, there's still stuff to do...
  • Check outthe new Imperial Storm III website (click here) for information on how to participate in Imperial Storm III. More on that later.
  • Fly a TC battle for a citation, cash and fabulous prizes... ok, so I probably won't be able to deliver on the cash, but fabulous prizes I may be able to swing. ;-D
  • Complete an IWATS course (or two, or three). Even I have a few to do now!
  • Recruit pilots into Tempest Squadron. The more the merrier!

 News

Fleet News

  • Imperial Storm is back for a third installment. It would take far too long for me to describe it any better than they do on the IS3 site so just check it out at http://www.emperorshammer.net/wo/is3/.
  • There's a new Flash IWATS course (that's 3 new courses in the last month for you IWATS fans out there). Check it out at http://iwats.stardestroyer.org/. All IWATS courses, of course, can be found on the Imperial Academy course listing page (http://www.imperialacademy.org/courses.asp).
  • Wing VI is shut down and it's members are sprinkled into approximately equal positions aboard the Sov. I guess I can stop waiting for a response from Tav with respect my competition challenge. Hopefully, this will increase overall activity aboard the Sov.
  • As always, you should check out the fleet news to catch all the stuff that doesn't make it into this report.
  • Wing News

  • Top billing this week goes to *drum roll* US! Congrats on helping make Tempest Squadron the Wing X Squadron of the Month! W00t!
  • Congrats also goes to Boliv for Wing X CMDR of the month and to LT Karce for pilot of the month! Well deserved acolades to both of them.
  • Locke is currently having internet problems, so Mai takes over as A-COM. Of course, the best thing to do would be to flood Locke's e-mail server with thousands of "get well soon" cards from the EH Greeting Card Center.
  • Mai hurt her foot earlier today when she applied a swift kick to her Spectre Advanced Missile Boat, "Rivendell", upon returning from a particularly grueling XvT mission. The veritable river of explitives that followed lent new meaning to "swearing like a sailor."
  • Squadron News

  • A quiet week activity-wise as we recover from the first round of competitions in our little Superiority campaign. The score, thus far, is 5 Wins, 0 Losses, and 1 Draw. Great job, but we have not yet begun to fight! Keep your sticks warm for the next round of competitions comming up soon.
  • A few medals went out this week... Mike, Rover, and Kane get ISMs and Dirk gets a PC for activity this past month. Great job guys! :-D
  • Dirk has made up an FCHG spreadsheet and I intend on using it. Starting this next week, I'm going to send out battles to specific people to try to maximize our citations. Expect that tomorrow-ish.
  • Rumor has it that Chris will be getting a new joystick Tuesday-ish compliments of Dirk. w00t!

And now, your moment of Zen...

This past week, a guy at work quit smoking. In honor of that, I've compiled a top ten list of things to help him stay off cigarettes...

#10 - Bandaid brand nicotine patches... just remember that you'll have to take it off at some point.
#9 - Candy cigs. They still give you a buzz, but sugar tends to be easier on the lungs.
#8 - A Toblerone. Hey, if you're going to make Morris rich, you might as well just buy his chocolate.
#7 - A bigger Toblerone... I've seen 'em up to 50 kg. That should take care of the munchies
#6 - A TIE Fighter. With it's lack of an ash tray, it's the perfect place to stop smoking.
#5 - A sprinkler system connected to the smoke detectors at home... don't even think of lighting up. :-P
#4 - Girls (or boys as the case may be)... unless they smoke too.... then it gets harder to quit smoking.
#3 - Open bar night in the cantina... who has time for smoking when you have Chalquila? :-D
#2 - Stormtrooper helmet. Wear that into the bar and the temptation of second hand smoke will be a thing of the past (unfortunately, so will dating).

    and finally...
#1 - GladeTM Nicotine plug-in... "Plug it in, plug it in!"

Well, that's all the news that's fit to print and most of the news that isn't.
