In command or not in command? That's the question. Although Roasty
said in a mail that he was back, communications were apparently
interrupted again shortly after, for we didn't hear anything from him
since then. I hope that you are allright, Roasty! Due to this
confusion plus the fact that I was ill for the last few days (and
still am a little, but much better), one weekly report (the one for
last week) has suffered the fate of non-existence.
I apologize for that, but it could be worse. As Kappa, and apparently
also the rest of the wing (concluded from the amount of mails) was
still recovering from all the new year parties, there wasn't much
overall activity.
Btw, of course I wish you all a happy new year! :)

Squadron News
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Sov Mascot Power Battles phase 5 (fiction writing) is over, with
Inky winning first place with her interactive
stop-the-MiniFords'-insurrection-scenario. :P
Congratulations!

Squadron Orders
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

- Sov Mascot Power Battles round 6 is on. The task is flying TC 125,
so we can all prove here that we aren't completely asleep! Heat your
engines and get to it! You have time until January 17th to submit
your TFR to COL Reaper at paul@reeves110.freeserve.co.uk
The battle is attached.

- A Sovereign banner design contest is running! As mailed by COL Ford:

"Two categories:
Splash banner: 640x480 maximum size, gif or jpg format.
Link banner: 475x75 maximum size, gif or jpg format.
Awards: IS-GR, SR, BR in each category.

These banners are to be used on the Sovereign Web site and other
sites as graphic representations of the SSSD Sovereign. All
suitable entries will be posted in the Sovereign Art Gallery."

The competition ends on January 31st, entries go to VA Proton at
hullbreach@aol.com.

- Fortunately some Kappans answered to my last report by sending me
their time zones and their favorite online times. Here's the
actualized table:

Officer time zone suggested time for meeting
---------------------------------------------------------
Astarosta GMT - 3 -?-
Zyrax GMT + 1 anytime
Tim GMT + 10 anytime
Algaron GMT -?-
Todbringer GMT + 1 Sunday evening
Hawkins -?- -?-
Tempest GMT + 1 Saturday evening
Ninja GMT - 8 Friday or Saturday evening
Hermann GMT - 3 Saturday evening

If nobody objects, the first meeting will be held on a saturday, as
it seems to suit most people best. I won't announce it until our
master Roasty is back, though, for what would a Kappa meeting be
without him? :P

Miscellaneous
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

- Reminder about mission skipping
FA Striker [striker@tiecorps.org]
Skipping a mission is only tolerated in case of a fatal bug, which
is extremely rare these days. If the procedure stated in the
cheating policy is not followed, the BSF is simply cancelled without
any notification (because the database doesn't support it yet).
Actually, skipping a mission for any reason may be forbidden in a
near future, if people keep ignoring the procedures.

- Unknown Commands on IRC
FA Stalker5 [Stalker5@rothwell-clieves.freeserve.co.uk]
We have been seeing a lot of people using unknown commands and
scripts on IRC channels recently, some of which can be malicious to
your IRC Client. These scripts work primarily on human operators
running the scripts out of curiosity and infect the victims IRC
Client. I would like to advise all members of the Emperor's Hammer
that it is usually a very bad idea to run any script you do not know
exactly what it does from the code as it can do damage to your
client and also if malicious may well earn you a ban and HCI trial.

- Security Officer Settling In
FA Stalker5 [Stalker5@rothwell-clieves.freeserve.co.uk]
Greetings all... I have recently been getting to grips with the
Office of Security. Any questions currently should be sent to me at
stalker5@rothwell-clieves.freeserve.co.uk regarding anything related
to the Security of the Club. The Imperial Security Bureau will be
sorted out shortly.

- EH Anniversary Awards
FA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
That's right folks, the time is upon us once more! The EH
Anniversary is around the corner, and as usual, it will be marked
with Commendations of Loyalty being awarded to the...uh, most loyal
people in the EH. All the details on how the recommendations will be
handled are in the latest OPS report. Or, if you're too lazy to move
your pointer across the screen, click here. Remember, the CoL can be
awarded more than once to the same person.

- Goodbye
FA Slade Holm [slade@tiecorps.org]
I quit, joy to the world.
In march it'd be 5 years. Goodbye EH and more importantly goodbye
TC, and good luck.
Quo Fas Et Gloria Ducunt

- Merry Xmas!
FA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Wow...no news for the past week. Anyway, a quick message to everyone
in the TIE Corps: Have a very merry Christmas and a great New Year.
Have a fun time and stay safe!
