A lot of changes this past week. Most importantly, Commander Exar Khaland stepped down as CMDR and assumed a FM position in Praetorian. I've already spoken to the squad introducing myself and the my expectations, so we'll just say congratulations and best of luck to Commander Khaland, then move on to more useful business.

Okay, I'm the new Sheriff in town. There should be a new squadron webpage up soon; if not now, in the near future.  I've contacted the squadron about what I expect out of them in activity, and Lieutenant Jaccr has decided he can't meet the standards expected of a member of Tav Squadron (as well as he didn't really like being here without Khaland) and I applied for his transfer to the reserves.  To be fair on him, he wants to concentrate on his DB duties and doesn't want to continue his TC career at the moment.

So where do we go from here? Tav's now down to five members. That's the bad news. The good news is that the officers we have left are keen, mean and eager to prove that Tav Squadron takes second place to nobody - watch out Koph and Zeta.  Also, we have the prospect of a new cadet joining us in the very near future, as well as two other officers transferring in from the reserves.  I hope the rest of the squadron will help continue my recruiting efforts.

I've already laid down my priorities to the Squad in a private email, but I'll repeat them here for the benefit of the rest of the Wing.

We are going to win the FCHG race.

That's it. Everything else can go take a long jump off a short pier for all I care. Any member of Tav who fails to submit a TC battle a week had better have a damn good reason why not or be prepared to take a walk to the Flight Office with a transfer request in hand. Now I don't think that's too much to ask, and by the responses I've received from my Squad, they all seem to be in
agreement with me. Winning the FCHG race is our long-term objective, I may set additional short-term objectives from time to time, but everything takes second place to winning the FCHG race.

Speaking of short-term objectives, Tav squadron is now looking for a new motto and nickname.  These are for the whole squadron only, as I think individual flight mottos and nicknames take away from a squadron's identity.  I'm accepting these from anyone in the wing at the moment.  Perhaps I will think about creating a new squadron banner soon, as well.
