Odin Weekly Squadron Report #4
Release Date: 08/03/01

Gonna be two pieces of fiction this week guys, enjoy it! :-)

First, Chapter 3 to Reckoning Force, by LT Brian...

Reckoning Force
Chapter 3

While the three ominous ships traveled through hyper-space, the
pilots of wing thirteen met in the pilots lounge. Some were drinking, most
weren’t because the ship was on full alert, and drinking required breaking
the rules. Others were talking of past battles they had flown, gesturing
with their hands as if they were fighters. No matter what they were doing,
all of them did snap to attention and salute the Wing Commander as he entered
the room.
“Good Morning, men.” Major Azazel continued, “ as most of you know
by now, we are going up against a force to be reckoned with, and we don’t
really know what we’re up against until we face it. The problem with that…”

He never got to finish his sentence. Alarms started sounding all
over the ship. The Grey Wolf and the other two Imperator Class Star
Destroyers were suddenly pulled out of hyper-space three hours from there
scheduled time. Rear Admiral Khadgar rushed from his quarters where he had
been taking his nap and shouted as he entered the bridge,“ Someone tell me
what the hell is going on!”
“Sir, we have been pulled out of hyper-space…” a junior officer
said from the crew pit.
“I know that you mongrel idiot! Tell me why we were pulled out of
hyper-space!” Khadgar said in a still tired voice.
Khadgar looked out the viewport and saw a huge fleet of Rakasha ships
destroying the Calamari Cruiser Sanctuary. Beyond that were the New
Republic Interdictor Cruiser Trinity and several other support craft.
“Aw crap, that INT has trapped us and the Rakasha here!” Khadgar
said to himself.

“Sir, an incoming message from a New Republic fighter. Shall I play
it on the comm.?” Said the comm officer.
“Very well, let’s hear it.” Said Khadgar.

The message pleaded for asylum from the Rakasha forces. It briefly
explained how the fleet had been ambushed by the Rakasha and what they were
doing here. Rear Admiral Khadgar thought for a minute and said to Vice
Admiral Cyric, “I think we should give it a shot, what do we have to lose?”
“Very well,” Cyric said after a moments thought. The comm
officer said to the New Republic fighter, “Acknowledged, temporary truce,
only engage Rakasha fighters, we are launching assistance for you now.”

Odin squadron left the hangar of the ISD Grey Wolf and zoomed
towards the battle that was raging between one immense fleet of unknown ships
and a smaller, half destroyed New Republic fleet. With every minute that
went by, another fighter, or a capital ship would be destroyed. If the ASF
wouldn’t of been caught in the INT’s gravity-well projectors, the Rebel fleet
would be doomed for sure.
“Ok pilots, only engage the Rakasha craft, we don’t want to
provoke the New Republic fighters. Still, keep your guard up. I don’t know
what they might try to pull on us.” Raxis said Odin squadron reached the
outer-most action in the battle.
“Roger that, lead.” LT Brian said as he blew away a Rakasha bomber
as it was attacking anX-Wing.
“Confirmed” LT Andrew said as he vectored in on a Rakasha fighter
attacking a Rebel A-Wing. The brawl continued. In the end the New Republic
forces were decimated. Only nine fighters and one corellian corvette survived
the battle. Damage to the Vanguard was very extensive. Odin lost one pilot,
but he was recovered because he ejected and was E-V for a little while.

Now the question came up as to what to do with the New Republic
ships that survived the battle.
“ I think we should let them go.” Said Khadgar as they Commodores
gathered for an emergency meeting aboard the Grey Wolf.
“Well, the protocols call for us to capture, interrogate, and
execute them. But I don’t think that that is the best action to take right
now. I suggest that we have a meeting where we discuss the Rakasha and
mutually hand over any information that we both may have about them.” Cyric
said. After a brief moment of silence where no one objected to the plan,
Cyric replied, “Ok then, I’ll arrange this meeting as soon as possible. As
for current orders, we will remain here until we have exchanged the necessary
information, then we will proceed towards the Rakasha hyper-coordinates. In
the mean time, let's repair the damage that we sustained during todays
activities.

And now, Odins Uprising, by LT Andrew...

Odin’s Uprising
by Lieutenant Andrew

“Lets go, guys!” Captain RaxisKrieger said as he came in to wake the tired
pilots for the third time in 15minutes. “We gotta get going…”
“Five more minutes, eh?” pipesLieutenant Andrew. Soon after that comment, a
pillow makes its way toward himfrom Lieutenant Brian’s bunk.
“Lets go, Peters. Hop in theshowers. We gotta go,” Brian says annoyed.
“Okay, okay…” responds Andrew.
As soon as everyone took a showerand ate some breakfast, they all gathered in
the hanger for briefing from theship commodore, Khadgar.
“There is going to be a lot ofaction going on today. Since the recent pirate
uprising, we have to stay alert. So far, intelligence reports a possible
pirate attack on the Grey Wolf, andOdin must defend. At the moment, we do not
know the motive for these attacks, but that doesn’t matter right now. Okay,
everyone, you know what needs to bedone. Make your routine patrol, and report
in if anything out of the ordinary.Raxis, you lead them. Lieutenant Brian?”
Khadgar asks.
“Yes?” replies Brian.
“Cover Andrew’s back, he is theleast experienced here, and we don’t want to
lose anybody, okay?”
Sure. We are all making it throughthis together.” says Brian in a sentimental
tone.
“Okay,” says Khadgar. “Everyone hopinto their fighters and lets get rolling!”

Once everyone of Odin Squadron madeit safely out of the hanger, they moved
into their tight formation. Theyfollowed their scheduled flight plan, until
Lieutenant Andrew spotted somethingout of the corner of his eye.
“2 o’clock everyone. Possible bogeysighting…” says Andrew in an excited
tone.
“Yes, I can make out a lot offighters, at least 20. They appear to be
correlian transports and A-Wings.Also, I think I can see at least 2 modified
corvettes and a few frigates,” saysBrian.
“Brian, Saar, have your flightstake out the A-Wings. Flight I will take out
the transports. Steer clear of thecap ships, save those for later,” orders
Raxis.
“Roger.”
“Copy.”
“Roger that.”
As Raxis reports back to Khadgarabout the sighting, Brian takes out 2
A-Wings, Andrew takes 1, and Saar takescare of 2.
“Alright, Raxis, calm down, wegotta take care of these guys…” he says to
himself. Once he calms himself downand controls the flight stick, he targets
a transport. Once the lock isconfirmed, he fires two advanced concussion
missiles at him. That hit took outall of his shields and a small portion of
his hull. Raxis finished him off withcannons.
By the end of the battle, Raxistook out all but 2 transports. All of the
A-Wings were taken out by Flights Iand II. The remaining to transports and
the corvettes and frigates bugged out.

* **
At the after-battle briefing, Khadgar congratulatedOdin Squadron for their
bravery. They were all rewarded for their exceptionalservice to the ISD Grey
Wolf. Khadgar and Azazel were pleased with theirperformance. Although none of
the craft were undamaged, no one was injured.
“I hope this skirmish isn’t prophesizing the future of this uprising…”
Khadgar whispered to himself as hewalked to his cabin.

Imperial Storm II battles can occur at any time. Keep an eye out in your email bins and on tc.org's news page. Battle times and dates will be listed there.

Regular Weekly Competition for XvT and XWA (even TIE) are held. Check the combat calendar for more information on these competitions. Flying in these competitions can bring in the medals. LoCs and DFCs are plentiful!

Still many many spots to fill in the squadron, if you know some people on Daedalus who will be an asset the squadron, don't hesitate to reccomend odin squadron to them.

Make sure you fly as many XvT battles as you can. It's good to get these out of the way so we can nab the citations for them as soon as we get a 6th pilot.

Final Thought this week...

July was a fabulous month pilots. Between 4 pilots, we managed 56 battles, 5 multiplayer competitions, and 13 IWATS courses. I am very happy for our squadron. We're progressing very nicely. Let's see if we can't beat what we did last month. I know that we can do at least what we did, let's see if we can do even more. Also, keep up with recruiting, still 7 spots to fill in the squadron!
