CMDR/CM Dae Cam reporting for Talon Squadron on 7.10.01:

… Exhausted and confused, you hit the hatch release on the combat simulator that just suddenly and inexplicably quit. As you emerge, you are surrounded by the blaring sound of alert klaxons. Attempting to gather your wits about you, you rush after the other members of your squadron who are already headed for the Star Destroyer’s Flight Deck.

When you reach the flight deck, you are met by an anxiously awaiting pair of technicians and hurriedly lead to a small ready room. There, your Wing and Squadron Commanders, COL Smitrock and CM Dae Cam, stand together in front of a large display screen. The pair look up briefly as your group enters the room, and simultaneously gesture for you to take seats.

“We’ve just received news from the Intelligence Division that a high ranking officer has recently been abducted”, Colonel Smit begins. “Their analysts inform us that, based on the captor’s calculated hyperdrive trajectories, they have most likely made for an area in our vicinity. Because of this, it has fallen upon us to stage a resuce. The officer in question is Vice Admiral Cyric, and as such, your squadron is being assigned to handle this special operation.”

After a quick briefing, you hurriedly jump into your flight suit and stride out onto the Hangar Bay floor. There, you see a swarm of technicians surrounding a set of 7 sleep fighters. Somewhat awed by the spectacle, you approach the fighter emblazoned with your name. Surveying the ship at close quarters for the first time, you pay careful notice to the faintly gleaming hull coating which is yet unmarred by the rigors and rewards of combat. Grinning fiercely in anticipation of painting your first kill on the ship’s wing, you mount up into the cockpit and begin the preflight warm-up…

- LCM Dakar Romson was awarded the Iron Star – Bronze Wings (x2) for second place in Wing V’s last competition and for being the highest scorer in Sadhe squadron (his previous squad) during their most recent competition.

- Motto’s and Nicks: We’ve had several suggestions for mottos and nicks. I’d like to submit them all at once, so for now, I’ll outline those that I’ve got slated in (of course, feel free to make more suggestions if you feel you’ve got something more appropriate):

Competitions:
- Talon Weekly Kill Competition begins today!
- Each week, I assign a battle to be flown. Because Talon is a multi-platform squadron, the battle selection will alternate between TIE, XvT, and XWA.
- Pilot files for the assigned battle are to be submitted to the me before the next Wednesday evening (MTS - Canada) when the weekly report is sent out. The top three scorers from each week will be awarded 3,2, and 1 kill(s) for 1st, 2nd, 3rd respectively. Additionally, to encourage MP activity and interaction among pilots, 1 kill will be awarded to anyone who flies an XvT battle on a team with at least one other pilot. These winners will be announced in the report. Further, on the Talon Squadron homepage each pilot will have his kills painted onto his fighter as a means of keeping track of them. For each 20 kills that a pilot has, he will be awarded an IS-BW. This will be an ongoing competition through the year.
- This week’s Battle will be TC-XvT 10 (see attachment, or DL from Mission compendium on TC site)
- Important Note:

- Wing Banner: COL Smitrock requires a banner for Wing XX to be made. Send any submissions to him. The creator of the banner that he likes best will be awarded an Iron Star – Bronze Ribbon.

- Commodore’s Escort:
- As was outlined in the COM’s last report, every two weeks, a mission will be selected. The highest score on said mission will be awarded the title of Commodore’s Escort for the next two weeks, as well as a small competition medal. This period’s assigned mission is: FREE-TIE #1 (see attachment, or DL from Mission compendium, on TC site)

- Fiction Creation:
- if you are the type of person who enjoys writing fiction, the COM, RA Jeff 'Tiger' Loruss, will accept two submissions of fiction from each pilot per month. The fiction that he likes best will be included with his bi-weekly report, and the writter will recieve a small medal as reward.


- IMPERIAL STORM

- The second battle of Imperial Storm II has finished! This is a massive wargame, piting the ASF alongside the Avenger and Subjugator vs. the Sovereign vs. the Battlegroups. See http://www.btinternet.com/~spellfire/impstorm.html for more details.
- In this battle, our task force (Flamming Arrow) squared off against what appears to be the entire Silver Saber task force.. After two waves of battle, the involved ships, the small portion of our task force that had struck the earlier Silver Saber forces was destroyed, though not without a reasonable amount of damage to the opposing fighters. - I hope to see everyone who is able involved in this wargame, and plan on offering training and practice in the piloting tactics and skills necessary. Please contact me and arrange a time to meet if you are interested. One very interesting thing that came out of the last game, was that the organizers have agreed to allow more than 2v2 combat… 8 people flew in the first wave.
