CMDR/MAJ Krax Tarnisar reporting in for Spear Squadron on August 24, 2001

I know this report's a bit early, but I have to go play in the woods this weekend. As some of you may know, the forest fires in the Western US are coming fast and thick now, and my Guard unit has been tabbed to help. As a result, I'll be out of contact until Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Our upcoming competition will begin after I get back. Fleet News
Let's see. The Internet Officer resigned, which was a great loss, and so did the Logistics Officer, our old friend Ramos. I'll let you fill in the blank as to whether that was a great loss or not. The latter announcement did trigger a big party on the TC Message Board, though. The Dark Brotherhood is continuing to recruit for their new Battlegroup, and postings about command changes there are becoming common. LATE BREAKING NEWS: Ramos has, in keeping with tradition, decided to un-retire himself.

Wing News
Lots of Wing news to report this time. Shield's CO has gone missing. In RL he's active duty U.S. military (Navy, I believe), so it's possible that he was deployed. Or he might have just been kidnapped by a bunch of hormonally challenged Ewoks on some sort of crazed spree induced by sniffing too much shoe polish or COL Ted's drawers (or was that Dan's? So many smelly sets of drawers and so little time…;-)). Report any sightings of MAJ D'Narshay to our exalted Wing Commander.

Our Commode, I mean Commodore has resigned and requested a positing to Sword Squadron. Whoever takes over the Relentless will have some big shoes to fill, not to mention a big butt-cheek imprint in the commander's chair. Ric, you'll be missed. You gave me a shot at squadron command (which I've so far managed to avoid bunging up), and I'm thankful. Spear Squadron would also like to file an official request to become the…uh…guardians of General Steve the Cricket Bat. I think we've got enough alcohol to keep him happy.

Squadron News
Warning Order: Sometime in mid-September we will be going head to head with Typhoon Squadron of Wing X. The details are being worked out, but it's going to be a TIE Free Mission.

Priority Charlie-One: The first Spear Squadron Top Gun competition will officially begin next week, so get your joysticks ready. The mission to be used will be announced in the Competition Operation Order, along with the start and end dates. The Iron Star (Bronze Wings) will be awarded to the highest-scoring pilot from Spear at the end of it all. Let's make it a good one!

Priority Charlie-Two: Not much time left on the fight banner competition. So far we still only have Owen's entry for this, and I know there are others of you who are good at graphics (or just enjoy doing them). Let's see some more submissions! As our Intelligence Officer, CM Ironfist is the contact point for this competition. All submissions are due by September 1.

We also have a new member! (heh..heh..I said 'member'..heh…heh) LT K'itth'raw'namec joined us from the Reserves. Let's all say hi and wave to the fresh meat…I mean the new lieutenant! Welcome aboard!

It has recently come to my attention that Spear Squadron has been spending far too much time in the cantina. Other squadrons are beginning to complain that we're beating up their Ewoks, leaving a big mess when we finally pass out…I mean leave the StarDrifter, and consume way too much alcohol. Even though we supply most of our own (through Viking Flight's excellent 'support facilities'), they still complain. To you, my fellow pilots, I say this: Good work! Now, let's go play some Dead Bug and stomp some Ewoks!
