SQUADRON NEWS:

- Talon Squadron is Victorious! On Saturday, August 11th, Talon met the Elite Avenger Squadron’s challenge to an MP Duel. For Avenger, LC Tarkin, CM Azrael, and CPT Dax Corrin participated. Flying for Talon were myself, CPT Demos, and LT Kenshin. The events included 2v2s, Combat engagements, and Free For Alls. In the end, Talon emerged with a 3-1 victory! Good job. All participants will be awarded 3 kill points, and we’ll look into post-approving this comp with the TO to allow for a medal :P

- Talon fully operational: Talon Squadron is now at a full complement of 12 members! A warm welcome is extended to all the new members. As we are now fully operational, I am ready to begin work on our first “interactive battle”. The battle will consist of one custom made mission every few week, and will be 4 missions long. This will basically serve as a test for the concept, which, if successful can be used on a larger wing, or battlegroup scale. Depending on the performances on the previous mission, the next will evolve to reflect that. I won’t be ready for this for a while, but I am beginning work on it.

- Avenger Task Force Academy to be the Imperial Flight School. The academy is shortly going to be open to the entire fleet. For now, I’m going to begin the XWA training (really, I swear it this time, I’ll actually start the physical training) this weekend. Sign up if you are interested (and haven’t done so already of course)

- Weekly Kill Competiton: -- No entries this week – Step to it, we’ve only got a few more days to finish the battles for the wing competition.
- For shear attrition caused to the enemy as a result of his efforts, LT Jerod Ashrand is once again awarded an extra kill.
- This week’s battle will be TC-TIE 26. NOTE: This is the same battle as that for the Wing Competition. Fly it, and you will get double credit!

- In other news, good work on the part of LT Jerod Ashrand and LCM Dakar Romson who have managed to stick 6 Battles in the queue for possible high score reviews.

Competitions:
- There will be a fleetwide flying competition beginning shortly to select the top TIE squadron, as well as the top XvT/XWA Squadron in the fleet. As a multi-platform, special operations squadron, Talon will be participating in both the TIE and the XWA/XvT events. More details will be announced as the planning unfolds

- Additionally, as seen in the Training Office Communique that you should have received recently (mail me if you didn’t get a copy), there are two non-flying competitions running until the 27th. See their respective sites for information.

- Talon Weekly Kill Competition:
- Each week, I assign a battle to be flown. Because Talon is a multi-platform squadron, the battle selection will alternate between TIE, XvT, and XWA.
- Pilot files for the assigned battle are to be submitted to the me before the next Wednesday evening (as measured in GMT -7:00) when the weekly report is sent out. The top three scorers from each week will be awarded 3,2, and 1 kill(s) for 1st, 2nd, 3rd respectively. Additionally, to encourage MP activity and interaction among pilots, 1 kill will be awarded to anyone who flies an XvT battle on a team with at least one other pilot. Finally, credit for one kill due to attrition may be awarded for exceptional flying activity. These winners will be announced in the report. Further, on the Talon Squadron homepage each pilot will have his kills painted onto his fighter as a means of keeping track of them. For each 15 kills that a pilot has, he will be awarded an IS-BW. This will be an ongoing competition through the year.
- This week’s battle will be TC-TIE 26. NOTE: This is the same battle as that for the Wing Competition. Fly it, and you will get double credit!

- Wing Competitions: -- Competition ends August 23rd. If you haven’t already, fly one or all of these!
-Fly one of the 3 battles according to your desired platform; TC-TIE #26 "The Dark troopers", TC-XvT #5 "Phoenix Saga", TC-XWA #13"Hammer to Anvil Part II" The pilot with the highest score from their platform category wins an IS-BW. Now if a pilot so happens to win all 3 platforms then they get an additional medal (ISM).
