CMDR/CM Dae Cam reporting for Talon Squadron on 7.3.01:

…Staring out the view port of your transport shuttle, your pace quickens as the tunnel of hyperspace fades into long starlines, which in turn quickly become a vast starfield. As the shuttle begins to turn, your view shifts to encompass the powerful image of the newly commissioned Imperial II Class Star Destroyer Subjugator. From great ship’s hangar bay, a flight of TIE Phantoms from Nemesis squadron streak out to meet your shuttle, their slender hulls rolling back and forth in salute…

While you stare at the breath-taking scene, time passes quickly, and before you know it, you find yourself decending into the Subjugator’s massive hangar bay. Quickly gathering your belongings, you tear yourself away from the window, and make your way towards the shuttle’s landing ramp. After a few minutes of anxious waiting, you hear a blaring klaxon sound a single, drawn out note. The shuttle ramp begins to lower. When the ramp firmly sets down, one of the other passengers, your new Squadron Commander, you realize, steps into the entryway and offers a sharp salute to the personnel assembled on the flight deck.

“Commander Dae Cam and Talon Squadron requesting permission to come aboard, sir!”, he states. The traditional reply comes quickly from the ship’s Commodore, Rear Admiral Jeff ‘Tiger’ Loruss, “Permission granted. Welcome aboard the Subjugator!”

The Commander begins to march forwards, and you join the other pilots of your squadron in quickly following him. As your group emerges, the assembled personnel of the Subjugator offer a simultaneous salute, welcoming you to your new ship and wing. Grinning proudly, you march past the assembled host. At the edge of the flight deck, your squadron approaches the Commodore’s entourage. There, a series of quick introductions are made. While you attempt to memorize all of the new features, you notice the man identified as Wing Commander Smitrock throw you a quick wink when he sees your overwhelmed expression. Turning quickly, he beckons your squadron to follow, and proceeds to lead you to your new quarters…

SQUADRON STATUS: OPERATIONAL TRAINING

Structural Issues:
- Motto’s and Nicks: As a newly opened squadron, we need to come up with mottos and nicknames for the squadron as a whole, as well as each flight individually. Please mail any suggestions to me, and CC your FL.
- Roster: Being a new squadron, our roster has several open positions. As a result, I would encourage all of you to talk to help bring in new pilots (please observe the FO’s rules concerning recruiting should you do so)

Competitions:
- The first battle of Imperial Storm II has finished! This is a massive wargame, piting the ASF alongside the Avenger and Subjugator vs. the Sovereign vs. the Battlegroups. See http://www.btinternet.com/~spellfire/impstorm.html for more details.
- In this battle, our task force (Flamming Arrow) squared off against greater numbers from task force Silver Saber. After two waves of battle, the involved Silver Saber forces were annihilated, losing an ISD-II, an Interdictor Cruiser, an Escort Cruiser, and 11 squadrons of fighters.
- I hope to see everyone who is able involved in this wargame, and plan on offering training and practice in the piloting tactics and skills necessary. Please contact me and arrange a time to meet if you are interested.

- XWA June WoW (Week Of War) recently ended. Congradulations go out to Kenshin, who held the highest score for the EH with 9 wins, 4 losses.
- EH Ladder: The most recently ladder season has just ended, with the results beign posted on the TIE Corps news page. A new season will be starting, so I’d like to encourage everyone to go out and sign up. The ladder page is @: http://www.imperialacademy.org/ladder/news.asp
- Look out for the announcement of a graphic creation competition in COL Smitrock’s Wing report tomorrow.
- Once our wing has another squadron open, expect some much more involved and interesting flying and tactics competitions to begin.

In order for me to properly credit you I would ask that all Flight Members make report their week’s activities to their Flight Leader by Monday night, and that the Flight Leaders submit their flight’s compiled activity report by Tuesday night. (NOTE - What to include in your report: Try to make your report similar to the activity listing shown below, and include anything other activity which is EH related – eg: graphics work, presence on IRC, fiction, etc… )

- mIRC: This is a vital program for any pilot who intends to be active in themulti-player arena. You will need this if you wish to attend most online competitions, and is a great asset for anyone who wishes to get to know their fellow pilots. If you are unfamiliar with its use, it can be downloaded at http://www.mirc.com I would suggest that you download it and take the IWATS mIRC courses, which provide a good and very quick introduction.
