Spear Report # 16 (2001-05-31)

This report was submitted by CPT Krax Tarnisar

CMDR/CM Krax Tarnisar reporting in for Spear Squadron on May 31, 2001

Due to my hard drive suffering a cataclysmic failure over the weekend, this is a combined WSR for May 31 and May 26. I’m in the process of restoring data to my new drive and getting things sorted out.

Fleet News
The fleet’s been busy, but in an administrative sense. Lots of command reports and stuff to browse through. As always, check the TC News page (http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp) for the latest.

Wing News
The Wing continues on, with Colonel Steve the Cricket Bat making his return to the weekly Wing report. The other squadrons are active, and the Wing Commander’s Own contest is over. See the latest Wing IX report for details.

Squadron News
I must admit that I’m very disappointed in the lack of activity in Spear of late. I know it’s been a busy time, what with trips, tests, and the like, but we need to turn this around. I’m counting on my Flight Leader to help out in this effort. We need to do better, people! In a few short weeks we have gone from being one of Wing IX’s top squadrons to perhaps its weakest performer. I’m counting on all of you to help turn this around.

“What can I do?” you may ask. “My joystick’s down.” Fine. Try your hand at writing something. Take something from your INPR and flesh it out into a little story. If your joystick works, fly a mission or a battle. Send the .tfr to me and I’ll do the rest. I’d like to see each of you do at least one of the things listed in Spear’s Standing Orders in the coming week. I know I will be.

We lost a pilot and gained a pilot over the past two weeks. Jessie transferred to Nu Squadron, and we gained SL Weasel from the Daedalus. Welcome aboard, Weasel!

This week marks Spear’s first Top Gun contest. This is a three-part contest, with each part consisting of a single free mission (designed by your humble commander). The first mission (reconnaissance) is attached to this report. I ask that you fly this mission ONCE and then send the .tfr to me. The next mission is determined by how well you do on the first one. The winner (the pilot with the best overall score – NOT the highest point total) wins a nice, shiny ISM. A hint: pay close attention to the mission briefings. They spell out your goals for the mission.

If, for any reason, you are unable to fly, report to me and let me know what’s going on.
