Aleth Report # 11 (2001-06-12)

This report was submitted by MAJ Jahan Kalar

Greetings and welcome to another edition of the Aleth squadron report. This past week has been a big one for me personally and yesterday I had my official high school graduation ceremony, followed by a lock-in party at my high school all night. The ceremony was long and boring, and the party was a lot of fun, although I'm tired as heck right now. The theme of the party was "Survivor" (motto: "Outsmart, Outplay, Outta Here!") and the entryway to the school was built to be a volcane complete with smoke and lights and real waterfalls. The entry hallway was a cave with tourches (fake) and a cool walkway. It was really neat and the parents spent a lot of time putting it together. There were tons of games and prizes, I spent a lot of the night playing blackjack, which I got to be pretty good at. Mitch from Survivor II was also there (don't know how they pulled that one off), as well as a hypnotist and lots of other entertainment. It was really sweet.

I know that there's some stuff I need to do soon, and I promise you guys that it will get done, I just haven't had the time lately. But now that all this graduation stuff is over, I can get back to work in the TC and make Aleth Squadron even more fun!

Aleth Squadron Role-Playing Story Update
As I said in a previous e-mail, I'm rewriting the first chapter of the Aleth Squadron role-playing story because I thought of a new plot idea I think you'll all really like. I should be done in a couple of days and I'll send it out as soon as I'm finished. I promise that this isn't going to be one of those plans that just disappears without a trace.
Aleth Squadron Competition Round #4 Update
Due to the lower than usual number of participants in this round of the Aleth Squadron comp, and due to the various e-mails I've gotten about it, I've determined that this time of year it is difficult for people to fly missions so I've decided to extend this round until next Sunday (June 17th) to make sure everyone who wants to fly has time to do so. But I expect to see more submissions because of this time extension, and there won't be any future extensions if I don't get more pilot files.
Orders
Fly AC #4. Battle is TC-XWA #3 due June 17th. I expect to see a lot more submission because of this extension.
Aleth Squadron Role Playing Story is starting soon.
Attend Wing III meetings if you can on Sundays at 1pm EST, 6pm GMT and 12pm CST.
Fly battles to improve our citations.
Recruit! Although Aleth is still the most populated squadron in the Wing, the other squadrons are catching up. Even if you can't get pilots to join Aleth Squadron, even joining Wing III would help.
Squadron News
LT Mynock flew AC #4
LT Dufar Jabar flew AC #4
CM Wolverine went on a trip until the beginning of July
LT Sunrider is having a few computer problems
MAJ Kalar had a few of his own, brought on, no doubt, by his experiments with "water cooled computers". If God had wanted you to cool your computer with water, he wouldn't have made it conduct electricity.

Movie Quote Trivia

Last week's quote was: "If you're trying to sound like it just comes off like a swindle. I mean, it's not your fault. They say talent skips a generation, so I'm sure your kids will be sharp as tacks." This is a quote from Jurassic Park, The Lost World by Ian Malcoln. No one answered this correctly, maybe it was a little too hard.
This weeks quote is: "Why don't you just go down to the police station in a clown suit and let them know what we're doing here?" See if you can figure it out.
Words of Wisdom
"Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try"
That's all for now...until next time, shoot straight and faster than they do!
