Well, the competition is still open as suddenly Colonel Master decided to wake up and score first place on Avril Lavigne. So, as we only have three more, things still have not yet been decided. So without much talking from my side, here\'s #12:

Well, last week was the hardest. Or so I thought. I got 3 correct answers, which honestly was 3 more than I expected :) The answer was Liv Boeree, English model and professional poker player. On a side note, things at the front end of the line are heating up as Mickk Emrys solidifies his lead over the rest of the field. But with 4 mugshots left, there\'s still opportunities to catch up to him. The race isn\'t over yet :)

Well, things are getting interesting, with three people scoring 12,13 and 14 points. They\'re pretty much in the running for the top 3 spots I think, but 5 others can still meet the target for the participation medal you get for more than 10 correct answers. So keep trying! At the moment, everyone\'s trailing Mickk Emrys at 14 points. Last shot was an easy one again, everyone recognized Lady Gaga. That was to offset this one, which I think is going to be the hardest of them all. If you look well there\'s a few hints in the picture, but you might have to put some effort into this one. I\'ll give you a hint: she\'s English.

On to number 9. The last one was a bit easier, I got a few correct answers, but also some incorrect ones. I guess people here aren\'t fans of stuff like Serenity, Terminator or The Cape. Yes, indeed, this was Summer Glau. We have a close rase for 1st and 2nd, and while true that some people can\'t take first place anymore, there\'s always the individual participation medals for getting enough answers correct. So there\'s still shinies left to work for! For the moment, Mickk Emrys has taken the lead with Zeth missing the last 2 answers. let\'s see who wins this time!

Well, we\'re past the halfway point, and man that last one was hard. Only TWO people made an attempt, and one got it right. Mickk Emrys took a nice leap into second place, trailing Zeth Durron by only 1 point now. Yes, it was indeed Kim Wilde. And I thought I had another one tagged as the hard one, be interesting to see if anyone can catch that one. But first, here\'s #8.
As from now on, I\'ll just post the link to the image here. So click and be merry :)

Well, after this week we finally see someone taking a lead. And it\'s not even that big. Zeth Durron is first with 12 points so far, but there\'s 3 ppl close by with less than 5 points behind. So the race isn\'t over yet. And even if it already is for you because you can\'t catch up anymore, there\'s still the individual participation medals you can strive for, so keep those answers incoming!
Last time, the answer was Nicole Kidman. A bit harder than before, but hey - you all said it was too easy!

TOR Update: New Republic Planet, Quesh...

GA Ronin

20 March, 2011 19:26
19 ABY

From:  http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/planets/quesh

\"Toxic TreasureEnvironmental poisons have made Quesh one of the most dangerous and valuable planets in the galaxy, and the grounds for a savage battle between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Though the chemicals on Quesh are lethal to most life forms, they can also be used to create some of the most potent adrenals in the galaxy… and untold wealth for whoever controls the ingredients.

Initially discovered by the Republic during the Great War, Quesh was abandoned after scientists detected the poisonous content of its atmosphere. It wasn’t until years later that a young chemist rummaging through old data recognized the potential for the chemical compounds on Quesh—they are incredibly close to venenit shadaaga (Hutt Venom), a primary ingredient in high-grade adrenals for healing, reflexes, and concentration.

If the Republic could find a way to process the delicate chemicals, it would provide a major source of new income at a critical time in the war effort. Ultimately though, Republic engineers were unable to master the techniques to synthesize the adrenals. They were forced to seek help from some unlikely allies– the Hutts. Three families from the Hutt Cartel were quietly convinced to step around their neutrality treaty with the Empire in return for a cut of adrenal profits that not even a Hutt could refuse. The Cartel, so long as they received their share, looked the other way.

Within a decade, the Republic was fully invested in Quesh. Despite efforts to keep Quesh a guarded secret, miner and worker gossip slowly crept out. It wasn’t long before the Empire heard about this vast source of chemical wealth - and the treaty-breaking Hutts. The Cartel was forced to declare the Republic-aligned Hutts traitors, and assist the Empire as it launched a full-scale attack on Quesh, seeking to destroy Republic efforts and claim the resource for its own.

Now, the Republic struggles to defend its investment from the Empire and their unhappy Hutt Cartel allies.\"

Well, here we go again folks. I guess people like quick comps like this at a fast pace, cause the answers are coming in hot. The answer to #4 was not a big problem for the participants as all guessed it was indeed Sigourney Weaver. Zeth Durron has taken a leap forward and is leaving the competition far behind him with a 1 point lead over a joint 2nd place by 3 others. Let\'s see what this day brings:

Well, seems I did good with #3. I actually got incorrect answers (Amanda Bynes, Jessica Alba), and that was a first. The correct answer was Kaley Cuoco. Score-wise, we have a 3-way tie for 5 points between Kaisin Mirtez, Mick Emrys and Havok, but nothing\'s lost yet with 11 more to go and a maximum of 33 points up for grabs.

So here\'s #4:

Well, the competition went off with a bang, as all 10 players got the first one correct. Yes, of course it was Pamela Anderson. As I said, an easy one to get things started. If all 10 players complete the competition, we could have an exciting match up. For now GN Kaisin Mirtez has taken the lead.

And here is the second photo. The lines are open!

Recently, the Star Wars: The Old Republic community manager posted an update about the anticipated release of Star Wars: The Old Republic:

Star Wars: The Old Republic is expected to launch this year after the close of EA’s fiscal 2011 (which ends March 31st, 2011). Information on the release date and pre-order programs will be released as it becomes available.

So it won’t be released during March, but possibly April or May 2011.  The opening of the Guild Creation Phase means that the release date is likely not too far off in the future.  Stay tuned for future updates.

You don’t have to wait until launch to create or join a guild in Star Warsâ„¢: The Old Republic.  LucasArts has a three-phased Pre-Launch Guild Program where you have the opportunity to find a group now that suits your play style, or if you prefer to start your own guild, you can reserve your preferred guild name and begin recruiting members to join your cause.

If you’re looking for a guild to join, the Emperor’s Hammer’s guild is located here: http://www.swtor.com/guilds/5829/emperors-hammer

Here’s the additional details from LucasArts:

When the game launches, you will have the opportunity to transfer your guild directly into the game. All guilds that meet certain criteria will be imported into the game. To learn what a guild is and why you should join, visit the Guilds Game Systems page.

Every guild gets its own guild mini-site on www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com, complete with information about the guild, its recruitment status, and its own public and private forums. Create or join a guild now and you’ll have the opportunity to have your own space to socialize and organize before the game launches. Every guild is automatically entered into the searchable guild database, which makes it easy for players to find their ideal guild. Get your guild together early and get ready for The Old Republic!
