Stardestroyer.org Redirection Service

For about a year now, the Internet Office has been working (and primarily taking breaks in working) on a site redirection service for the Emperor's Hammer, similar to TSX and CJB.net. Well, that service is now a reality.

Stardestroyer.org, my domain, now hosts this service. Any EH member can apply for a http:// yourname.stardestroyer.org redirect, free-of-charge and free-of-porn-banners. Since TSX redirects will soon be banned by the EH, I suggest you switch over now. The sign-up takes 2 seconds, and your account is activated immediately!

Take a few moments of your time to check it out:

Newsletter submission reminder

10 ABY
Just a reminder that submissions for the Newsletter will be accepted up until the 1st of April this time. This is due to the release of Jedi Outcast and I would just love some reviews of the game. If you want to write a review, you'll need the following information in it:
  • Your ID line, obviously
  • Your system's specs (at least include CPU, RAM, video card and operating system. If you want to be picky and include more, that's up to you)
  • Areas you might want to consider when writing your review would be sound, graphics, plot/storyline, control and how much the lightsaber kicks ass (or doesn't if that's the case)
  • A final summary and/or score
  • Some pictures would be nice too
Also, if you have a more general article idea relating to Jedi Outcast, the original Jedi Knight or Lucasarts/Star Wars games in general, send them in too.

Project: Hawkeye - The Aftermath

After 3 weeks, Project Hawkeye is finally completed. Many of you are curious what it was all about. You can find all the information you need at the Hawkeye Aftermath site now, including answers to the qualification test, the winners and other agents, the datapad, and of course, both EH and NIF sets of missions - all 10 missions for each side include solutions and some contain excerpts from selected agents' responses. Please make use of these extremely valuable site, especially if you plan on applying for Hawkeye II. We've learned a lot from this run and many of the missions you see on the site may be repeated in some form or another in the next episode. I'd also like to thank the Hawkeye Admin and Dev Staff who all put up with me when I tried to make sure everything went perfect. Indeed, it did - everything went really well, and I hope the agents enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

The Project Hawkeye Aftermath site can be found here.

FO's note: Congrats to Ari on his promotion to Fleet Admiral!

The Art of Star Wars

For any Star Wars fans in Scotland, there is currently an Exhibition of Star Wars art work, models and costumes. It is at the City Arts Centre on
Market Street in Edinburgh. It is open from 10am to 6pm Mon, Tues, Fri and Sat,
10am to 8pm Wed and Thur, noon to 5pm on Sunday. Price is £6, £4.50 concs.
It is on now until Sep 8th. It contains things like conceptual drawings,
artwork of sets (The Hoth landscape is amazing), Production models
(including X-Wings, Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers as well as
the Millennium Falcon!). Also on display are costumes, the droids, Darth
Vader, a shop, software room and in the entrance hall a full size version of
Anakin's Pod Racer. So if you are in the Edinburgh area and want to see
Yoda, a Jawa and a surprisingly large Ewok, go and have look.

The EH Club Roster on Battlestats

RA Brucmack

26 March, 2002 11:06
10 ABY
BSC cleaned out all players from club rosters that have been inactive for more than 90 days. This affects a large number of people that were on the EH roster :) So just a note, if you have been inactive on BSC for more than 90 days, you will have to sign up for the EH again. Your BSC profile will still exist, however.

Activity on BSC does not necessarily have to be participating in a game. You can also edit your profile information or post a message on one of the BSC message boards to reset the inactivity counter.

One more thing to note... Your player name on BSC should just be your callsign. Don't use your whole ID line, and don't put in the prefix EH_ yourself (BSC will do that for you). So, if EH_SomeGuy signs up, he'll use the name SomeGuy, not EH_SomeGuy or LT SomeGuy, etc, both of which I have seen :) You can always change that by logging in and editing your BSC profile.

XvT Week of War

VA Khadgar

16 March, 2002 00:37
10 ABY
Today, XvT Week of War started. Pilots will have until next Friday to fly matches on the Zone against other clubs to win LoCs. Last time around, a lot of matches were played, and many awards were distributed. I hope to see many pilots come out and help the EH to once again rank amongst the top ten clubs participating. As an added incentive to participate, I intend to keep my predecessor's Iron Star rewards system for WoW Comeptitions:

The system depends on how many players are ranked from the EH. To be ranked, you must have flown at least ten matches.

If 1-4 EH pilots are ranked, the top EH pilot gets an IS-BW.
If 5-9 EH pilots are ranked, the top EH pilot gets an IS-SW, second place IS-BW.
If 10+ EH pilots are ranked, the top EH pilot gets an IS-GW, second place IS-SW, third place IS-BW.

Similar rewards will be given out to XWA WoW winners. The Competition details and URL can be found on the Combat Calendar at http://www.emperorshammer.net/combat/event.asp?record=1648. Like usual, you will be required to be registered with Battlestats. If you have any questions about Battlestats or anything about WoWs in general, please feel free to contact me at khadgar1@shaw.ca.

LC Halcyon of Teth and MAJ Yoman of Mem were the individual top pilots for their respective wings. Congratulations to Wing IV and the medal winners! Oh, one more thing: Because his wing lost, CM Murkrow Defender had to give up his infamous prank monkey. Wing IV promptly barbecued the pest and enjoyed the fixin's as a cantina snack.

RE: Reporting errors

SA Astatine

09 March, 2002 00:38

The web server software that this site runs on usually gives very detailed error messages as to what the problem is relating to an error. However, by default, Internet Explorer suppresses these detailed reports, instead displaying a generic "Error 500" message. In IE 6, to turn on these detailed messages, go to Tools>Internet Options. Then select the Advanced tab. Under the Browsing heading is an item called "Show friendly HTTP error messages". You want that unchecked if you want the detailed error reports to come up.

A second trailer for Jedi Knight 2 has been released and this one is pretty good. Twice the length of the one on the Lucasarts site, it gives a very nice indication of the scale of the levels we can expect, the gameplay and what multiplayer will look like. The good thing is it doesn't seem to play like a Quake 3 mod. You can get it at http://files.ausgamers.com/?agn=details&id=1621. The trailer is 14.6megs and a zipped AVI file, using the Divx codec.

Prelude to Andevia extended by one week

SA Astatine

04 March, 2002 08:28
10 ABY
Prelude to Andevia's closing date has been extended by one week, to 14th March 2002. The competition really needs entries in the fiction, design and other category sections. Most of the fiction events have been updated so you can now work in teams on them if you so wish. Also, some rules have been updated, so be sure to check the competition's site for details on this. Tip on fiction stuff - one of your main goals with your fiction is to give some sort of explanation for what's happened on Andevia. So, for example, when doing an alien species entry, it'd be a good idea to include some sort of characteristic that would result in the events so far.

The competition website is http://www.imperialacademy.org/comps/prelude/.
