Wing X Report # 6 (2009-03-27)

This report was submitted by WC/GN Domi/Wing X/ISDII Challenge

Greetings members of Wing X and fellow TC Flags; welcome to the weekly Wing X report.

Wing News
My first order of business in this report is to officially welcome LCM Godo Nurok to Wing X, most specifically Tempest Squadron Flight I-3. There, I think I have finally got that right!!

I also want to congratulate those of you who received special merit awards following the review of the January & February activity levels. I do apologize for you deserving pilots of Wing X having your awards delayed slightly. The fault was mine on this one. I commend both of my CMDRs for getting their respective reports to me quickly – and of course I expect you both will be just as prompt for this month’s deadline of Wednesday next week? Indeed.

For those of you who were not rewarded this time, take note. Activity is rewarded even outside of competitions. Some of you are already performing at a high level but I think there are some of you who could probably “pick it up a notch” and have it not infringe too much on your RL time. An email to your Flight Leader or CMDR once or twice a month would be cool. And to you Flight Leaders in the Wing, please remember you are also expected to file weekly reports to your CMDR and maintain contact with your flight. (It’s in The Book!)

Anyhow, not a particularly great week activity-wise on the Challenge – with the notable exception of LCM Dunta Polo who has snagged yet another IS-BW as the Wing X Pilot of the Week. Not only that, but we are in the final weekend of the Challenge Top Gun competition wherein the Wing X pilot who flies the most will earn a shiny IS-SW for their uniform and I'm betting the good LCM has the esge in that competition too.

I haven’t heard much on the Tempest vs Praetorin competition. I can only assume this means you are all too busy flying and doing whatever else you deem worthy of your time. I haven’t seen too many competition-related BSF cross my desk at this writing so hope you are flying and reflying trying to get that higher score. There’s always a few extra points you can squeeze out of a mission if you try hard enough!

Anyhow, here is what Wing X has been up to of late:

Tempest Squadron
Fire Demons vs. Storm Riders!
Starts: 03/19/2009
Ends: 04/05/2009
Details: Here’s what you were waiting for since Flash Gordon met Emperor Ming, since Luke, silly moisture-farmer, met DV (not the 'dirty one' ;P), since... (*ejem*)... this is Praetorian vs. Tempest!! All pilots from both Squadrons are called to fly XWA-FREE 133 and/or XvT-FREE 199 within competition time. Right after deadline all scores will be made public, and based on pilot percentages compared to the highest score on each mission, and finally on Squadron averages coming from them, a winner will rise to get the laurels of glory!
Medals: IS-BW for all PARTICIPATING pilots of the winning squadron plus 2 IS-BWs for highest scores on each FREE mission.

Tempest Pilot of the Month - March '09
Starts: 03/01/2009
Ends: 03/31/2009
Details: The first edition of the Tempest PotM series! The pilot with more missions flown on each week will be awarded the IS-BW (at least 10 to count). At the end of the month the pilot with more missions flown (at least 40 to be eligible, 10 for each week) will be awarded an additional IS-BW and the mighty title 'Tempest Pilot of the Month'. BTW, Tempest CMDR WILL NOT participate (he already had his days back in 2007) so feel free to give it a try!
Medals: 4 IS-BWs and an additional IS-BW (maximum)

Tempest Student of the Month - March '09
Starts: 03/01/2009
Ends: 03/31/2009
Details: The pilot with more IWATS Courses passed at the end of the month (at least 2 to be eligible) will be awarded an IS-BR and the sweet title 'Tempest Student of the Month'. Tempest CMDR WILL NOT participate (people say he'd die due to ID line excessive bloating ;P). And yes... it's obvious that nowadays there're not too many Courses to pick but I hope this will get fixed soon. On the other hand, in case of a tie, test scores will be used looking for an average in order to award the medal & title. Already passed Courses count as long as the former score is surpassed.
Medals: IS-BR

Fire Demons vs. Storm Riders!
Starts: 19/03/09
Ends: 05/04/09
Details: Here you're what you were waiting for since Flash Gordon met Emperor Ming, since Luke, silly moisture-farmer, met DV (not the 'dirty one' ;P), since... (*ejem*)... this is Praetorian vs. IS-BW for all PARTICIPATING pilots of the winner Squadron plus 2 IS-BWs for highest scores on each FREE mission.
Medals: Multiple IS:BWs

Your patience is MINE!
Start: 14/03/09
End: 28/03/09
Details: See, there's some unspeakable FREE mission on our mighty Compendium, TIE-FREE 277: Folly: The Endless Struggle. As well as there's some unspeakable CMDR featuring some unhealthy desire to try your patience for the glory, the shinies and blablablabla. Therefore, all Riders (Tempest pilots) are hereby called to fly this mission the best they can. At the end of this little competition the 'lacking-a-life' being with the highest score will win a nice IS-BW for himself! Straight and to the point, don't you think? Aaaaand anyone daring to score more than his CMDR will get an additional IS-BW as well. Wicked CMDR of Tempest's score will be made public on an upcoming Tempest WSR.
Medals: 1 or more IS-BWs

TIE Corps Wide
SP/MP Ace of the TIE Corps – March 09
Starts: 01/02/2009
Ends: 28/02/009
Details: The rules are familiar: whoever flies the most missions wins.
Medals: IS-GW – IS-BW

TAC's beta testing madness
Starts: 14/02/2009
Ends: 31/04/2009
Details: Since I got TAC, there's been a 20 mission battle from the deep awaiting testing. It's time to get that over and done with. So anyone who wants to, can go and download the battle and test fly it. And that's where the competition begins. The top 2 bug submitters win medals, and everyone who completes the battle wins an IS-BW. Pilot files, bug list and review must be reported to the TAC via email to qualify for the medals, and must be in by March 31st. This is an XWA battle. Additionally, there's an IS-GR,SR,BR available for the best three reviews. Download the battle here: http://tac.emperorshammer.org/uploads/lykos.zip
Medals: IS-GW,SW,BW,IS-GR,SR,BR

TACcy Quotes
Starts: 15/02/2009
Ends: 31/12/2009
Details: In each TAC report of 2008, there will be a TACcy Quote. First person to let me know from which movie it is wins an IS-BR. If you win a 3rd time, you get an IS-GR.
Medals: IS-BR (sometimes IS-GR)

TACcy Speed Test
Starts: 01/03/2009
Ends: 31/12/3009
Details: A bi-weekly competition, that deals with speed, nothing else. We'll be using one XvT free or XWA free mission each run, to be announced in the bi-weekly TAC report. The objective is to win the mission as quickly as possible. Pilot files must be submitted to the TAC via email, NOT the BSF form (TAC will BSF them for you). The one who flies the mission the fastest, will win the IS-SW. Everyone who flies faster than the TAC will win an IS-BW. TAC time to be announced when the run is over (TAC pilot file available on request if you wanna make sure I'm not cheating)
Medals: IS-SW/IS-BW

The TAC's citation hunt
Stays: 01/03/2009
Ends: 31/03/2009
