The first report of a new squadron and the first of a new command, an auspicious day for us all. What is Lambda and why should anyone care... its the 6th squadron of the TCs current incarnation and the 2nd to be opened in the last few months, reflecting what has been a very busy but productive time for us. There is talk and planning afoot for a 2 ship split or further squads if manpower continues to return, so how does this affect us? Retention, simply put. The only way we can continue to grow and rebuild is to ensure that we gain numbers, rather than losing them. I want Lambda to be an enjoyable squad, I will never impose unreasonable demands, and I want to put the group experience first. Most of all I want you all to participate because YOU want to.

At present a healthy loathing of the Phoenix is being put to good use, with LCM Keth rejoining us from the RSVs, while his profile is generally sparse now is the time to fill it. If anyone holds older ID lines or similar please direct them our way so we can restore any missing information. For now a hearty welcome from your squadron LCM, there are potentially another 2 officers en route to follow and provide an actual function to my massively overqualified FLs.

Congratulations to Mell on his DFC and LoCs, as well as thanks to him for assisting in the generating of my 17 over the last few days - Star Conflict is a resource that will continue to be helpful and I am keen to make Lambda a strong player within the wing on this platform.

Lambda Competitions

Lambda Unleashed - Lambda needs a banner, simple as that. Ideally a variation on the 95th Fighter Squadrons "death with finesse" skeleton - but go wild and get creative, the cheesier the better! Open to all, with an IS-SR and -BR available to the top two entries. All submissions to myself, deadline of 2359 GMT Feb 17th.

Operational Picture

...The protracted campaign to oust the Void Raptors from EH space has attracted the attention of the civilian government, leading to increased debate and media attention on the forces involved. The political ramifications of this were beginning to become apparent and the stepping down of the Strategic Operations Officer the most efficient way to halt them in the short term. Surrendering brevet rank and his position as an advisor to the TCCOM, COL La'an has returned to a squadron command, with a newly promoted Rear Admiral stepping into the breach and galvanising the strategic effort...

CMDR's Corner

Lambda is the... Phantom, Crossbow, Shield... 4th squad that I can recall commanding, but will hopefully be as much of a challenge as those other past units. At this stage I'm optimistic that good results will come of the squad's creation, but that is going to rely on all of us pulling our weight.

As a request, anyone with accurate knowledge of my historic record and willing to assist in filling the 3+ year gap post-Shield CMDR feel free to let me know what I was doing - sadly previous e-mail purges have erased all known record...

Other than that, get active - whether Tempest baiting, reminiscing, or Star Conflict etc I want to be able to put more than the dreaded "no contact" alongside names in future reports. We have a few short weeks before I write the first MSE and I would like to make sure medals are raining down from on high! As a last thought I'll be looking at our OoB entry to determine whether conventional strike is for us or a more exotic assignment...

Remember our motto... "death to the Phoenix!"
