TCCOM REPORT #38

REPORTING OFFICER: High Admiral Plif, TIE Corps Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 17 Oct 21
ACTIVE DUTY ROSTER COUNT: 160 (-2) Including 3 NPCs

NEWS

The roster is down 2 since last time, having just processed a small wave of AWOLs and Reserves transfers from the September evaluation cycle. As usual, that’s offset by some gains from IWATS and even one that came back to us from the M/FRG Phoenix.

Raise the Flag passed its halfway point just recently so I think it’s fair to say I’ve been more than a little preoccupied between receiving and processing submissions, judging, checking in with the other judges, and then uploading scores. And there’s all the bonus comps, which this year’s RtF has more than any other before it. It’s a lot, but there’s only a couple of weeks of it left. Kudos to the current frontrunners: The ISDII Challenge, Tempest Squadron, and COL Phalk Sturm. Also, congratulations to the winners of the first two bonus comps: VA Silwar Naiilo and COL Pete Mitchell.

RtF 2021 is the first and last where I’ll have submissions be sent to the tccom at emperorshammer dot org address. Unfortunately, it turns out that my Gmail account flags the messages as spam when they’re passed to it from DreamHost, so I’ve been missing some messages and having others be delayed. I’ll just have everyone email my Gmail account directly, not a big change.

Over on Discord, all of our gaming-centric voice chats are now visible to everyone on the server though the permission to join hasn’t changed. For example, you still have to be a TC member to join Hangar or Team chat and you have to be a member of the ship to join a ship chat. This change came up during a CMDR+ meeting and I've been getting some good ideas from those so big thanks to all the leaders that’ve been taking time out of their weekends to attend.

TITLE HOLDERS

The Raise the Flag event each year confers three titles to recognize the top ship, squadron, and individual pilot from the competition. These are the current holders of those titles. With Raise the Flag actively running, these titles are up for grabs!

TIE Corps Flagship: ISDII Warrior

TCCOM's Escort Squadron: Rho

TCCOM's Wingman: GN Pickled Yoda

TCCOM'S COMPETITIONS

Raise the Flag is running until the end of the month.

The Trivia Grand Tour is in its seventh season. Updates are going out to the mailing list separately and also #competitions on Discord.

SP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top six pilots on the SP Kill Board each month.

MP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top six pilots on the Multiplayer Kill Board for all the games other than Star Wars Squadrons, which has its own similar competition.

COOP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top six pilots on the Multiplayer Coop Kill Board each month.

TIE Corps in Battle wrapped up its third season recently. Its fourth season will begin after Raise the Flag after a decision to split up the Corps-wide competitions to avoid too much overlap of similar activities.

Starship Designers, as the name implies, is about designing a starship. I took this one over when LT Scarlette left for the Reserves and it ends in a couple of days.

TCCOM'S AGENDA

DONE:

  • Ran a CMDR+ meeting on October 9th, next is on Saturday the 23rd
  • Launched RtF and several of its bonus comps
  • Took over on the Starship Designers competition

ONGOING:

  • Performing onboarding tasks before assigning cadets to squadrons
  • Processing uniform updates
  • Processing medal and promotion recommendations
  • Processing transfers and other profile updates in the database
  • Adding items to the news feed in the database and the #polls-and-announcements channel in Discord
  • Updating the TIE Corps Pilot Manual
  • Chatting with the IO about stuff we need or would like to see in the new database
  • Learning to be a responsible database code collaborator from the IO, FA Turtle Jerrar (thanks!)
  • Holding CMDR+ meetings every two weeks
  • Moving pilots from the Reserves to AWOL status when messages from the Captain of the Phoenix, MAJ Sparky, result in a bounce

PENDING:

  • Building the TCPM in the Wiki
  • Realignment for #hangar-chat and #pickup-games
  • The Commodore Volume 7
    • Thinking about a reformat for this, both to make it easier to compile and easier to read on devices other than computers
  • Competition resource - what we've done before to serve as a pool of ideas for what we can do next
  • Taking TM/3 (someday)
