TCCOM REPORT #37

REPORTING OFFICER: High Admiral Plif, TIE Corps Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 22 Sep 21
ACTIVE DUTY ROSTER COUNT: 162 (-9) Including 3 NPCs

NEWS

The roster is down 9 since last time mostly from a wave of AWOLs and Reserves transfers as the August evaluations were processed. We had a few pilots added to the active duty roster, so it's not all negative.

In Corps-wide competitions, we'll be looking for opportunities to award more than just the top three places without changing how often we award the Platinum Iron Star since that one's reserved for longer-term competitions like the end of the year for Ace of the TIE Corps and bigger events like being the top pilot in Raise the Flag. For example, you might see a Gold Iron Star for first place, Silver Iron Stars for second and third, and Bronze Iron Stars for fourth through sixth. Imperial Storm used a system like this and now the Ace of the TIE Corps competitions have been updated to use one as well.

Our next (re)build of the TIE Corps Pilot Manual will be in the EH Wiki once some protected space is set aside. This'll be an experiment as opposed to a permanent change, we'll see how people like the Wiki version compared to the PDF before making a final decision on which version to keep updated.

I know Raise the Flag is right around the corner, but something that's been agreed on is that we need to ease up on spam-based competitions in favor of quality-oriented goals or at least setting some target numbers. Too much of a good thing can cause issues and I think we saw that happen just recently.

TITLE HOLDERS

The Raise the Flag event each year confers three titles to recognize the top ship, squadron, and individual pilot from the competition. These are the current holders of those titles.

TIE Corps Flagship: ISDII Warrior

TCCOM's Escort Squadron: Rho

TCCOM's Wingman: GN Pickled Yoda

TCCOM'S COMPETITIONS

The Trivia Grand Tour is in its seventh season. Updates are going out to the mailing list separately and also #competitions on Discord.

SP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top six pilots on the SP Kill Board each month.

MP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top six pilots on the Multiplayer Kill Board for all the games other than Star Wars Squadrons, which has its own similar competition.

COOP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top six pilots on the Multiplayer Coop Kill Board each month.

TIE Corps in Battle wrapped up its third season recently. Its fourth season will begin after Raise the Flag after a decision to split up the Corps-wide competitions to avoid too much overlap of similar activities.

TCCOM'S AGENDA

DONE:

  • CMDR+ meeting on September 11th
  • TCCOMA is all set up to be contacting long-term Cadets here and there
  • Updated competition creation guidance on the competition submission form in the database, though there's not much adherence to the additional instructions yet
  • FCHG career award update was processed

IN PROGRESS:

  • Working through RtF feedback with the leaders to flesh out rules for RtF 2021

ONGOING:

  • Performing onboarding tasks before assigning cadets to squadrons
  • Processing uniform updates
  • Processing medal and promotion recommendations
  • Processing transfers and other profile updates in the database
  • Adding items to the news feed in the database and the #polls-and-announcements channel in Discord
  • Updating the TIE Corps Pilot Manual
  • Chatting with the IO about stuff we need or would like to see in the new database
  • Learning to be a responsible database code collaborator from the IO, FA Turtle Jerrar (thanks!)
  • Holding CMDR+ meetings every two weeks
  • Moving pilots from the Reserves to AWOL status when messages from the Captain of the Phoenix, MAJ Sparky, result in a bounce

PENDING:

  • Building the TCPM in the Wiki
  • Realignment for #hangar-chat and #pickup-games
  • The Commodore Volume 7
    • Thinking about a reformat for this, both to make it easier to compile and easier to read on devices other than computers
  • Competition resource - what we've done before to serve as a pool of ideas for what we can do next
  • Taking TM/3 (someday)
