TCCOM REPORT #36

REPORTING OFFICER: High Admiral Plif, TIE Corps Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 31 Aug 21
ACTIVE DUTY ROSTER COUNT: 171 (+5) Including 3 NPCs

NEWS

The roster is up 5 since last time with some more pilots being referred to us by word of mouth. We've got room for 18 more pilots in the squadrons so we've got some room to grow before we have to make things uneven again.

Since last time, we had a resignation from the Commodore of the ISDII Warrior so we have need of a new WarCOM. I made an announcement seeking applications on Discord. We'll move forward with the process here shortly.

Congratulations to the pilots of the ISDII Challenge on their victory in Imperial Storm 3! Well played and good luck to the Hammer and Warrior next time. Many thanks to the SIMS, VA Phoenix Berkana, for putting that together for us and processing all those orders.

I've updated some of the guidance for filling out the competition submission form, some of which I notice is at odds with what several CMDRs have written in their reports. Just trying to keep things as tidy as they can be until the next database is ready to go with its own method of displaying competitions.

The default reply method on the mailing list is now to direct the reply only to the original message's sender. Reply to All sets up a message to the original sender and the entire mailing list, so you can still reply in a way that goes to the whole list but it's not as automatic and I think that's a good thing.

TITLE HOLDERS

The Raise the Flag event each year confers three titles to recognize the top ship, squadron, and individual pilot from the competition. These are the current holders of those titles.

TIE Corps Flagship: ISDII Warrior

TCCOM's Escort Squadron: Rho

TCCOM's Wingman: GN Pickled Yoda

TCCOM'S COMPETITIONS

The Trivia Grand Tour is in its seventh season. Updates are going out to the mailing list separately and also #competitions on Discord.

SP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top three pilots on the SP Kill Board each month.

MP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top three pilots on the Multiplayer Kill Board for all the games other than Star Wars Squadrons, which has its own similar competition.

COOP Ace of the TIE Corps is awarding the top three pilots on the Multiplayer Coop Kill Board each month.

TIE Corps in Battle wrapped up its third season recently. Its fourth season will begin after Raise the Flag after a decision to split up the Corps-level competitions to avoid too much overlap of similar activities.

TCCOM'S AGENDA

DONE:

  • CMDR+ meetings on August 14th and 28th, next is on September 11th

  • Updated competition submission guidance
  • Updated the initial join email to be a bit shorter and include a question about the pilot's Discord username
  • Sent up CoL recommendations
  • Changed mailing list reply mechanism

IN PROGRESS:

  • Working through RtF feedback with the leaders to flesh out rules for RtF 2021
  • Getting the TCCOMA set up to ping cadets that haven’t completed training yet

ONGOING:

  • Performing onboarding tasks before assigning cadets to squadrons
  • Processing uniform updates

  • Adding items to the news feed in the database and the #polls-and-announcements channel in Discord
  • Updating the TIE Corps Pilot Manual
  • Chatting with the IO about stuff we need or would like to see in the new database
  • Learning to be a responsible database code collaborator from the IO, FA Turtle Jerrar (thanks!)
  • Holding CMDR+ meetings every two weeks
  • Moving pilots from the Reserves to AWOL status when messages from the Captain of the Phoenix, MAJ Sparky, result in a bounce

PENDING:

  • Feedback process for Imperial Storm 3
  • Realignment for #hangar-chat and #pickup-games
  • The Commodore Volume 7
    • Thinking about a reformat for this, both to make it easier to compile and easier to read on devices other than computers
  • Competition resource - what we've done before to serve as a pool of ideas for what we can do next
  • Taking TM/3 (someday)
