RHO WEEKLY SQUADRON REPORT #63

REPORTING OFFICER: Commander Adom 'fr0Zen' Wietu, Squadron Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 08.10.2021

SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER

('No, that's just it,' the Pantoran Commander of Rho bellows from beneath the belly of his favorite bomber, 'I swore there had to be a timer involved since our practice rounds the night before were fine. Rotary cannon was singing like a brrrrrrrr-atone.'

'Terrible joke, sir,' replies the dock crewman bravely, passing a 10mm spanner to Wietu.

'You're nerfherding right it was a terrible joke, if you wanna call it that - sabotaging the trigger switch while I was on leave. 'Hah-hah funny funny, it was just a competition' they'll say if they are ever brave enough to step forward. 'Serves you right, Escort Commander, haha' they'll croon.'

'I meant the word play, sir,' the crewman boldly reiterates.

'I got it the first time, Mix,' winks the commander, rolling then from beneath the beast. He rises to his feet, declaring, 'Duty calls.'  In a breeze of uniform gray and home world blue he marches to the office.)

He begins composing this week's message on the terminal.

Greetings, as per ever, my Comrades in Black.

After seeing the holo feeds from the Starcross league, as I'm sure many of you did, the following order will come as no surprise.

Due to the home stretch of Imperial Storm III, and as a response to the damage done to my competition bomber's rotary laser trigger while I was on leave, I order that all requisite simulation equipment be brought to the flight deck and assembled in the aft port corner closest to our ships.

This will come at some expense to our productivity, and certainly at greater expense to what limited recreational time we are afforded, but the duration of the War Games is limited from here and I am sure you all understand how high the stakes are. Our watch on our bay must be doubled.

We are blessed to have such youthful and technologically proficient pilots in our squad now, in LCM Teash, LT Ossus, and our newest member LT Hebris.  I am confident they will aptly lead us in making serviceable arrangements for the equipment.

Furthermore, be it ordered that any visitor from the Challenge be summarily marched a distance of 50 meters from our ships - should any attempt to approach within 20 meters.  Should those pilots be from Tempest Squadron, I expect that the march will be particularly brisque and the protocol extra stiff to a distance of 100 meters. Do not allow Tempest Squadron members within 50 meters of our ships.

With that said, I do wish to express my sincere gratitude to the entire team for holding our group together admirably in my absence.  As a manner of thanks, I can report that my father is in good health, and my brother's children are growing beautifully.  I will be preparing some delicacies from home and serving a local brew from my village.  The name doesn't translate well, so I will just share that as one may expect, it is in fact blue and is best served very, very cold.

Perhaps these souvenirs from home, and a chance to catch up with my squadron family will together alleviate some of the extra burdens of our current circumstance.

Until a new Emperor is seated and the Rebellion is forever crushed!

SQUADRON NEWS
  • The Humpty Dance Palace 3v3 squad in SCL has staked first place with two events to go.  Cheer on fr0Zen and the team of veterans mixed from different ships as they play their way through the end of the league's rotation - with a shot at locking in first place.  They may need some help from other teams stealing a point or two from the Italian based Rogue Squadron, as the finish is going to be exceptionally close.
  • Special respect goes out to our newest pilot, now promoted LT Brent Hebris!  After sticking to it and earning his first LoC despite very challenging dog fight stacks out in the wild, he bravely sought counsel from the organization at large in the #tactics channel - and I could not be more proud.
  • fr0Zen's biggest goal this week is to get caught up on 'Project Sovereign' and helping us all enjoy the chance to test out something that could be really entertaining for our whole organization - salaries and profile objects!
  • Special thanks as well to LT Westric Davalorn for keeping up the communications and activity while I was away.  The report last week was admirably done, and I enjoyed seeing it.
  • Expect a fiery finish to the Imperial Storm III war games, and feel free to pick up any hooks about rivalry with the Challenge - and particularly those nasty mean dirty pilots from Tempest. BOOO TEMPEST! <3 <3 <3
  • Speaking of which, I broke another joystick. In record time. Busted right through the microswitches on an extreme 3d pro's trigger. So I play a bit emphatically. So what? (But I'm glad it fed a chance to keep the Tempest vs Rho rivalry fun going in the OC above.)
  • You should seriously watch the broadcast of HDP vs. Storm Knights - because our very own LT FamePlane served as match staff AND twitch caster for that match.  I was particularly fond of how he approaches filling the time waiting for the flying to start, and his casting of the action was par excellence.  Skip to about the 12th minute to jump to the action. Give LT FamePlane a follow!

So What Else this Week?

I notice now, as I review the week's activity, that LT Hebris jumped into the fiction options with our club.  As I also know that LCM Cray “Teash” Xerious has offered up extensive service in fiction tasks before, and that LT Westric Davalorn and I have discussed some opportunities there... well, looks to this guy like we do have some energy we should group and harness.

CLOSING COMMENTS

While we are in closer quarters for the next two weeks and more often - due to my orders above - I expect we will all have some opportunity to review our thoughts and begin to note opportunities for an investigation into who damaged my competition bomber.

I highly advise each and every one of you to take your daily 30 point inspections, and think of 10 additional points to monitor day to day throughout the remainder of Imperial Storm III.
