RHO WEEKLY SQUADRON REPORT #59

REPORTING OFFICER: Commander Adom “fr0Zen” Wietu, Squadron Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 07.12.2021

SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER

('The numbers don't lie.  We crushed our opposition. But we still didn't take the victory,' he thinks before pouring a tall glass of sterner stuff.  He continues studying the figures.  Certainly command for these War Games will make adjustments in the tactics? 'From what I see in these rules, I'd keep the whole fleet together and smash the enemy, then go 'claim' the planets for points. Well. The friendly enemy. War games are wierd. Got good friends on those other ships.'  He downs the full glass, stifling a cough, and boldly pours another. That week was exhausting. Here's to sleeping hard tonight.)

He begins composing this week's message on the terminal.

An absolutely astonishing performance from Rho Squadron and the Warrior as a whole! Sure, we didn't take this battle for some mathematical reason I'll never understand, but our assaulting fleet was smaller than the defenders.

We have plenty in reserve to deplete the opposition step by step from here.  You can be confident in our Commodore's plans for the remainder of these 'Imperial Storm III' War Games, and I look forward to seeing our efforts in our next battle - which I understand will be starting any day now.

You can be even more confident in our ship's efforts, as collectively we submitted over 2000 'Legion of Skirmish' awards for hard fought time across various simulators.  The diversity of tactics we employed will serve us well in the future of this event - but even more so in the largest contest of the year which will happen later this fall.

While the operations are commanded from above, what we can control in our squadron is our tactics.  And since this operation is an extensive exercise on top of our regular duties in patrols, in the classroom, and in the hangar, I want to insist that we all go with our preferred methods of simulation for our next battle.

SWS remains a preference for roughly half of our flight members; while others are steeped in the most traditional platforms.  I will take it on myself to blend in another grind of points in the so called 'Star Conflict' system, and the numbers show that at least one other team member finds that enjoyable.

To summarize, this is going to be a long grind - so contribute in whichever manner suits you best.  Last week we tried out 'Star Conflict,' with the consensus being that it is not for everyone.  You all matter to me so bring what works best for you and our numbers will pile up successfully in the end.

Until a new Emperor is seated and the Rebellion is forever crushed!

SQUADRON NEWS
  • I received two messages of interest in the available positions for flight leader and XO.  Those individuals can expect a followup from me with a short questionnaire this week.
  • Trivia Grand Tour: Season Six is still running, with only about two weeks left to join in.
  • Riddles of the Jawa competition continues with details here.
  • We can all be certain that the Warrior's insanely massive performance has raised eyebrows and raised questions about how to better score this event in the future.
  • Also, thanks to all who gave it a go in Star Conflict. And thanks as well to those who find that game a good fit for their time and playstyle.  But, as advance notice to the whole crew, expect that some of us are going to switch efforts to using SWS fleet battle vs. AI in custom mode. Those matches are a little slower to rack up LoS, but give us a bonus advantage in trying out various tactics - especially with practice dumbfiring goliath missiles.

So What Else this Week?

A massive round of applause from myself directly to the leadership on the Hammer for a very astute analysis of the rules for Imperial Storm III.  Very well played. My hat is off to you.  Best watch out though, because we're just getting started! <3

CLOSING COMMENTS

I cannot emphasize it enough - not every simulator is meant for every member of this squadron.  Please continue to contribute in the manner that suits you best.  Those of us who were new to the Star Conflict simulator followed our orders and did our best.  The numbers reflected in this report certainly show that; but in the end, some who tried it decided against continuing that tactic.

I will never press to continue doing something that isn't enjoyable for you. I will absolutely celebrate every contribution.
