The last battle threw up some issues with the scoring system that required immediate attention, in brief we made a change to the damage allocation method for this run of Imperial Storm that had some unintended consequences. In previous iterations of the game a single unit of damage to a vessel required the whole ship (or squadron) to be taken out of the game, to address this we allowed damage to be applied reducing a vessels overall combat ability but thereby keeping it in the game. The unintended consequence is that we therefore allowed teams to spread damage around which is how in the previous battle the Hammer force escaped with no losses despite taking damage to all vessels.
After discussion with the team leads and other members of the TCCS/EHCS we've decided to modify this rule with immediate and retroactive effect.
Teams will now have to apply damage sequentially, starting with one vessel, applying all the damage it can take and then moving to the next vessel and so on. You won't be able to simply spread the damage around equally.
Secondly we're taking advantage of this time to close another loophole that failed to differentiate between different classes of capital vessel when applying bonus points for destroying a ship. Whilst the destruction of a squadron will yield 10 points and the destruction of a ISD/MC90 100 points, going forward anything that cost more than 501 points will yield 50 bonus points, anything sub 500 will yield 10 bonus points and finally Corvettes & Gunships will yield 5 bonus points.
When applied to the standings the scores can be seen below. The Hammer fleet maintains a slim lead by virtue of having appeared in the first two battles, but their losses from the battle with the Warrior now read as Imperial Class Star Destroyers Hood, Inflexible, Warspite and Punisher along with the Interdictor Paradox. Furthermore they also lost 4 squadrons of Missile Boats and one each of TIE Advanced and TIE Defenders. There are no changes to the outcome of Battle #1 which saw damage to the Challenge fleet and the total loss of the Hammer fleet.
