Firebird PatchFROM STRYKER'S DESK Firebird Patch
Stryker sat heavily behind his desk and reviewed the list of active pilots in Firebird Squadron; there was always going to be attrition in the ranks, he knew that; he held his pilots to a high standard and they'd seen a lot of combat in the nearly-seven months since Firebird was activated, but he'd never expected to see the roster look so sad again.

Down to nine active pilots, two of whom were little more than IWATS graduates with no significant combat time, the concern about how long the squadron would remain combat-effective, and how that reflected on how he was viewed as a Squadron Commander by his peers and superiors. The former was more important than the latter, and though Tempest had reclaimed their position of ruling the roost on the Challenge (as it always was, even when inactivated), Firebird had managed to keep pace with them for the most part despite being effectively half the size.

That did not fill Stryker with confidence, however; he needed something to keep his pilots engaged, to keep them from becoming bored and complacent and therefore dead. Perhaps the promise of new equipment to replace their battered and war-weary ships would entice them to double their efforts? Calling up the requisition forms, Stryker began to search for potential replacements for Flight 3's abused Y-Wings...
Firebird PatchSQUADRON NEWS Firebird Patch
How is it May already?! We're coming up on the halfway mark for 2021 and my next report will mark seven months since I assumed command of Firebird Squadron. What a seven months it's been!

April MSE recommendations have been submitted to the COM and TCCS. We have two promotions and six medals (not including my own) going into the pipeline, so keep an eye out for those!

Reminder that Firebird Squadron Training (featuring the ISD Challenge) returns tomorrow at 4pm Eastern time!

Finally, an announcement:

April's Echelon Guardian is Firebird's High Score Hero, unofficial Medical Officer, and poster boy. In (Re)Mobilisation, he single-handedly completed all five of the Single Player High Score challenges. He stepped up to lead Team Chickenhawk after Major Jedgar's retirement, and has been an all-round superstar. It is my honour to present this award to the amazing (and sexy)...

Firebird PatchCLOSING COMMENTS Firebird Patch
May is here, spring is upon us, and I expect weather to slacken slightly as the weather outside brightens up and those of us with families spend more time in the great outdoors. That said, we've been a solidly-performing squadron since our inception, and I expect us to remain so despite the weather!

I've restarted the Firebird Squadron Training events (featuring pilots from the ISD Challenge) to ensure that every week players have at least some opportunity to get together with their squadmates and wingmates; solo queuing or queuing with pilots from other ships is great, but we also need to strengthen the bonds within our own squadrons and wing.
