swore loudly as the Toscan Fighter suddenly broke to starboard and
reversed thrust, the X-Wing blasting past its target at full throttle
as the large and ungainly craft corrected its attitude and bored in
behind him, cannons blazing. They'd been told the convoy would be
protected, but the presence of heavy fighters rather than the expected
Headhunters or R-41s had surprised everyone. Sub-Lieutenant Golf in
Firebird Ten was already out of the fight, his X-Wing falling prey to
the Toscan's surprise appearance in a ball of flame and debris. A blast of blue energy battered down what was left of Stryker's shields, and he immediately reversed thrust. The Toscan zoomed past, and Stryker held down the trigger and watched his lasers rip into the larger fighter and tear it to pieces. The explosion rocked the X-Wing and something began to rattle in the fuselage behind him - no amount of dedicated maintenance could cure old age, and the troubles that plagued the Challenge were also beginning to plague her fighters; Firebird's Y-Wings, for example, included one that had seen service during the Clone Wars. Sin Squadron had liberated some newer equipment for them, but crucial maintenance and technical supplies were required if the squadron was to become operational on even a limited basis. If it were to be a permanent assignment, they'd have to steal the plans for manufacturing equipment to refit the assembly lines on the Avenger, or the equipment itself. That was the goal of the current mission; probe the supply convoys into and out of Kuat; see which ones were heavily defended, and which ones were not. If they could steal some equipment here and there, that was a bonus. [Incoming craft, type unknown. Broadcasting New Republic IFF codes.] Damn... They were out of time, and with damaged craft to nursemaid, they couldn't risk a direct entanglement with the New Republic. Still, they had what they came for; the freighters were in Infiltrator Wing hands and the last of the Toscans fell to Ricaud's guns as he followed Woody in swooping down on it from above. 'Everyone get going, we're done here.' The X-Wings turned, following the vector the captured freighters had taken. It would be an arduous multi-jump journey back to the Challenge, but it had been worth it to capture greatly-needed spare parts and technical manuals. Stryker's sensors managed to briefly catch sight of the New Republic reinforcements as they arrived - four ships, about one and a half times the size of Stryker's X-Wing but with a more angular profile. Camouflaged Blue and Grey with Black Trim, the words 'Republic Navy' were stencilled along the dorsal hull. So that's the New Republic's new ship, the T-85... |

Colonel Talon Jade has stepped down as CMDR of Eagle Squadron, replaced
by Colonel Horus Blackheart. We wish Colonel Blackheart the best of
luck with Eagle, and hope that Lieutenan Colonel Jade will return soon! Sunday marks the inaugural Challenge Squadrons Get-together! It still needs an actual official name, but actually getting people together to have fun is more important than naming the event itself! I hope to see many Challenge pilots there so we can get some custom games going! We aim to meet at 4pm EST in the Challenge voice chat on Discord. I am starting a TIE Corps Book Club! Any player in the TC is welcome to join, and we will be having our first discussion on Saturday April 3rd (time TBD). The book to read is Michael A. Stackpole's 'Rogue Squadron'. Anyone attending should also think of a book to suggest for the second session. I have a few Challenge pilots interested, but would like to see attendance from elsewhere in the TC as well! |

flights working together! Trivia for the Challenged 2021 -
Season 1: Four trivia questions every week, points awarded
based on
time and number of correct answers. Prizes for weekly, monthly, and
season winners, along with further prizes for points-based achievements. Chalquilla Cup: 3v3 Multiplayer event using Star Wars Squadrons. Match pairings and results can be found here. TIE Corps in Battle (TCiB):
The TCCOM's High Score Hunt, one battle each from TIE, XvT, and XWA

getting the groundwork laid for the Book Club, involving both text and
voice channels on Discord - I'm hoping
for a reasonable turnout for both, but these are understandably both
