Lambda PatchLAMBDA SQUADRON NEWSLambda Patch

Our Chalquilla games were postponed for next week. Some of our pilots were able to complete in part or even in full the TCIB competition for February which I am happy about.

In addition, several Lambdas were participating in a variety of competitions including the COO's Wingman, Silwar's Draw within the lines and more. Anxiously waiting for the results!

Our biggest ramp up in activity for February has been the steady increase of Lambda's Squadron Multiplayer. Even with the new and improved matchmaking the wins keep rolling in (*knock on wookie*).

Will announce a day and time for our Tour of the TC Fleet (=website) soon and a Lambda get-together.

Hammer's competition of fleshing out the crew is now finished. However, feel free to continue to submit new NPCs. I plan to do so myself!

XWA-TC battle 42: ECR V - Training Maneuvers Battle Review

I took the time to write a comprehensive battle review for one of the three TCIB Battles for February. I wrote one for all three, but this was a bit more detailed. So for this week, I thought to share it with you. I mostly fly these battles on hard, so keep that in mind as some aspects of the battle may not appear on easier difficulties.

This battle is not for the feign-hearted. You will die, a lot. I like challenging battles, I really do! Mission #1 is just unfairly hard though. Flying in a shieldless TIE Interceptor means, one mistake and you are dead. To reach a good point score you must fly for around 15-20 mins (depending what kind of a high score you are aiming). This is the bad kind of hard. It is manageable once you work your way through ... 40 TIE Interceptors! It took a lot of energy out, which unfortunately did not allow me to enjoy the rest of the missions as much as I otherwise would.

Mission #2, this one while also difficult, at least you feel like your fortunes are in your own hands. On hard, you fly in a TIE Defender, and have to fight through a ton of fighters. Btw, Purple are the ones you should be shooting at, while the yellow ones are the pestilence. By pestilence I mean they are not part of the primary objectives and they will fire at you. Shooting them down gives you points and eleviates some of the pressure! On easy, it is no sweat. On hard, be prepared to refly it a few times.

Mission #3 is a picnic, except for one issue. You have to rush off and inspect all four capital ships, as one of them inexplicably dies at around the 5 minute mark. The first time around when that happened, there was no clear message as to why I failed. I carried on in the mission to understand what happened and after inspecting the other three noticed the 75% completion. Just don’t underestimate the X-wings and A-wings if you are playing it on hard. Oh and… don’t quit the mission once you have completed it. Fly back to the Frigate that came to pick you up. Typical XWA problem.

Mission #4 Is an epic battle done right. And this accolade is not easily earned. It is far from perfect but it feels epic. There are some minor issues, but it manages to do what it sets out to do. Two opposing fleets and you are right in the thick of it, feeling as part of the fleet. It is unfortunate that the Missile Boat is not a good ship in XWA without its booster and the second set of warheads. Perhaps flying in a TIE Defender would have been better.

Overall, I gave this Battle a score of 4 out of 5. It was better than your average battle. It had some unique concepts and implemented most of it right. I recommend giving this a go.

The best way to see true progress is to take a snapshot of where we were six months ago and compare it with where we are today. Stryker and I are also in the process of preparing something new, as Wards. More on that at a later date.
