| INTRODUCTION |
'So I heard we have a sub drawn for the Chalquilla Cup.' Lt. Untok said as he stood at the ladder that would lead into his TIE Defender. 'From the Admiralty Board itself.' Yods said, nodding. 'I knew Plif wouldn't be idle for long, after all it's a lifetime supply of Chalquilla on the line!' 'Here they come now.' Admiral Jerrar called out, pointing towards a tall figure masked by their flight suit. 'That's not Plif, too tall to be Plif.' 'They walk like a droid-' 'Oh no. It's-' Before Untok could say any more, the shadow of the figure loomed over the lieutenant. Visions of being airlocked filled the lieutenant's mind, causing Wodi to screw his eyes shut. Then he decided to be brave, opening his eyes as the figure held a metallic tube before him. Cautiously, Wodi took it up and unscrewed the cap, hoping it wasn't a grenade. The figure handed two more out to Yods and Turtle. Wodi carefully pulled out the contents of the tube, confused. 'What are these?' 'Cigars.' The figure finally lifted up his helmet, revealing his vulpine face. 'I'm your backup, but all the same, I expect you gentlemen to enjoy them as you fly back to the Warrior in victory. I want some of that Chalquilla.' 'Begging your pardon, sir.' Wodi looked up at the vulpinroid. 'Can you get drunk?' 'No but I can taste it, and if you haven't had Chalquilla Gel-O Shots, you haven't lived.' Admiral Prower walked around the TIE Defenders and stopped at each maintenance console. 'Training lasers in place, ions are in place, dummy missile ordnance. All seems in order here. Hit registers are reporting properly. This is an exercise gentlemen, but you can never be too careful about safety. All it takes is some careless inattention to end up having someone carry live ammunition in a friendly match.' 'Any advice, Admiral?' Turtle asked with a small smirk. 'Follow Yods, he knows more about starfighter combat than I've ever forgotten. Any notion of a fair fight shouldn't be present. Dogpile em and concentrate fire if you can. Enjoy the challenge, it's good to be able to break the tension with some friendly wagers.' -- Well folks, that's the first month of 2021 flown by now. Spent most of it laid up but still grading submissions. I'm catching up on some of the backlog, getting 2020 annual competition awards out. I'm also going to be updating the competition spreadsheets for our COO Objective Scramble which is due to end at 11:59 PM GMT (that's 6:59 PM Eastern/5:59 PM Central/4:59 PM Mountain/3:59 PM Pacific). For your entry to count, it must be e-mailed to tc-combat-ops-office@googlegroups.com  Here's the current standings, the scores to beat! The next COO Objective Scramble will focus on assists in Star Wars Squadrons. To flip the script, your goal is the top number of assists. Tie-breaking criteria then falls to who had the least deaths and finally score. This starts February 1 at 00:00 GMT and ends February 28th at 23:59 GMT.
