Shaking
his head with annoyance, Stryker exited the historical simulation he'd
been attempting and hauled himself out of the simulator. Back in the
day, the historical missions had been of prime importance to the TIE
Corps as a training tool - if you could improve against the AI, you'd
improve against other pilots. These days, however, the historical
missions were largely forgotten except by die-hard veterans; it didn't
help that the newer Operating Systems the Challenge utilised was largely
incompatible with the system, which meant the simulators would either
fail mid-mission, or the simulations themselves would go haywire.
Worse still, was the competency of the AI. Had a real squadron shown as
poor accuracy as the Gunboats Stryker had just been escorting, they'd
have been sent back to Daedalus
for gunnery training. Still, issues or not, it was good to get any
flying in - with Life Day approaching and the Challenge entering an emptier area
of space, a lot of the pilots and crew were utilising the HoloComm for
transmissions to families spread across the galaxy. Stryker didn't
begrudge them that, but he hoped that should they be needed, the pilots
were focused on their duties rather than feasts and presents.
That said, it had been a long time since he'd had a good Life Day
feast, and the staff of the Challenge's
Officer's Mess had promised something extra special this year...

Well,
it's a week until Christmas and I haven't finished my shopping, so I
may be in a little trouble!
We've seen a general rise in activity among most pilots this last week,
which is good; I was starting to get worried for a moment!
General Elwood the Brave has created a fabric patch for Firebird
members and interested parties from elsewhere, DM me on Discord or
E-Mail me if you would like one. I also have stickers available should
there be demand for those as well!
Medal and Promotion recommendations have been made, they should be
actioned by the Powers That Be before too long!

A Day in the Life: A
chance for you writers to commit your lives to print for submission to
the Warden!
Honor the past... November/December:
Complete XWA-IW 2 and 4, highest score for each gets an IS-BW.
Firebird Squadron Training:
Every two weeks, Firebird will assemble for Multiplayer Training! Star
Wars Squadrons, EA Battlefront 2, and others; let's try to get full
flights working together!
Pilots will be awarded an IS-BW for every 3 events attended, IS-SW for
attending the most events in six months, and an IS-GW for attending the
most events in a year.

better week than last week, to be sure! With Christmas at the end of
the week I'm not expecting marathon flying sessions from anyone, but
remember why we're here. Also, I hope people remember to be safe during
the holiday season; I don't want anyone taking risks and getting sick
if it can be helped!
