After a flurry of news last week, this week we are cooling off a bit. The big news of Squadrons (SWS) upcoming patches got everyone buzzing. Silwar correctly called it when he said the initial release was just a couple of months early. We basically did the beta testing...

New Email detected! Is it a Nigerian Prince? Is it GOG trying to sell you games? Pharmaceutical Advert? Or just your regular run of the mill spam? No, it's Phoenix's next trivia question, keeping everyone on their toes!

Our 8th Lambda's Star Wars Trivia is now out. This is the last trivia ending on a Saturday night. From next week, when the new trivias are set up, they will run from Sunday to Sunday, just for you Shub. ;)

Last Sunday we had our 3rd Lambda Expedition. Xye and Highlander representing Lambda and terrorizing the New Republic. We were joined by two guests, Wolffe and ... GameChanger. On one of our fleet games, we came up against a Power Hour team and got our teeth smashed in. I put it down to a defective ISD. It clearly had structural failings. Overall the games were fun and we put on a good showing.

Turtle: 'That asteroid field looks awfully fishy. We should check it out.'
PickledYoda: 'Roger that.'
Genie: 'Forming on your wing, Yoda. Stryker would definitely love this place if he was here right now.'
Travis: Mind your six as you head in there. Travis was monitoring space aboard the Corvette Screwdriver. He was on loan-duty from the IW, since CM Baiet, LCM Shub and LCM Xye were all on leave of absence.
Silwar: 'As promised, here I am. Brought some Chaquilas and smoked meat with me.'
Turtle: 'Sweet! Picking anything on your scan Travis?'
Travis: 'Negative AD Turtle, I mean ... LT Terrapin'. Turtle occasionally joined the recons as a means to escape his desk and used the callsign Terrapin to mask his ID.
Travis: 'Oh wait, picking up 5 bogeys. Make that 10 bogeys. 15 bogeys, but ten of them aren't moving. Approach with caution team!'
Jedgar: 'Roger that Travis.'
PickledYoda: 'I got eyes on them. Engaging'
Genie: 'Right in with you'
Jedgar: 'Guys, wait for the rest to join you'
Silwar: 'Really, you expect those two to wait... ever?'
PickledYoda: 'I see five U-Wings, homing in on one. Hull taking damage from my six, seven, eight, nine, three, four...'
Genie: 'Multiple turrets sighted, attempting to shoot them down. We chose a bad time to ste... borrow Rho's TIE interceptors.'
PickledYoda: 'I have to eject, but not before I nail that U-Wing down!'
Genie: 'Four turrets are down, 3 U-Wings are lining up on me, engaging evading maneuvres. Taking too much damage.'
Silwar flew right in, 'This is the New Republic's Firaxa squadron. Bunch of wannabes. I got your back Genie'.
Travis: 'I have alerted the hangar crew. Prepping TIE Fighters with Ion Missiles.'
Jedgar: 'Attempting to pick up Yoda'.
Silwar: 'Roger that, picking Genie up.'
Turtle: 'I'll cover your exit boys.'
Travis: 'Hurry back, before they leave. TIE Fighters are prepped, engines are hot.'
Graf was already running to the Hangar. He climbed into the cockpit, 'Requesting clearance to launch'
Travis: 'You are clear for launch Titan 7'
Silwar and Jedgar rushed back to the Screwdriver. All four pilots jumped out and swiftly made their way into the TIE Fighters.
Travis: 'Titans 1, 2, 3 and 4, you are clear for launch.'
'This is Commander Witcher aboard the TIE Reaper Bootleg'
Turtle: 'Happy to see you Witcher, and not a moment too soon'
Jedgar: 'Let's give them some pain back, shall we? Where are Genie and Yoda?'
Travis: 'Why do you even ask that question?'
Genie: 'U-Wing Firaxa 1 on sight, engaging Ion Missile', as the U-Wing floated helplessly, Genie fired his blasters.
PickledYoda: 'U-Wing Firaxa 3 sighted, lining him up. Ion Missile Locked. Confirmed kill, Firaxa 3 is down'
Jedgar: 'Wait for us guys, damn you, we want to have some of that as well!'
Silwar: 'U-Wing Firaxa 4 is trying to flee, I am in pursuit'
Turtle: 'U-Wing Firaxa 5 is down'
Genie laid out a mine in the path of Firaxa 2. Firaxa 2 struggled to turn, in vein as he smashed into the mine and burst into flames.
Jedgar flew right in, blasters blazing, clipping Firaxa's 2 wings 'I'm not going to let you have all the fun.'
Travis: 'Guys, multiple bogeys, I detect 12 A-wings(!) scrambling in at your position'
Sudden silence on the comm... Moments later, Travis could hear a loud laughter in unison coming through the comm from all the pilots.

'1,2,3,4,5,6,7...' Hav was scratching his head. 'Hmm, five Interceptors are missing', he thought to himself.

For now, for the sake of my own sanity, I have removed the arrows. May re-introduce them at a later stage.

• Spot the Error!: Every week, the Lambda Squadron Weekly Report will have intentional errors. Can you find them? Unintended errors will also win you points. Lately, several intentional errors have been getting through!
• Lambda University (IWATS): We nurture both our bodies and our minds.
• Lambda executes Plif: Starting from November, one TIE Fighter, XvT, and XWA battle will be selected each month for Lambda to complete.

• The Lambda Saga: Write up fiction relating to Lambda and its pilots (past, present and future). It can include other squadrons and the Emperor's Hammer itself.

Hammer Competitions:

• Hammer pilot of the month - 2020: For every flown SP mission from the TC mission compendium and for every LoC/LoS earned each pilot receives 1 point for the Hammer pilot of the month competition.
• Trivia for the Hammered: One trivia question every weekday, sent via email. Speed and accuracy are of essense!

TIE Corps Competitions:

• The Galactic Linguist: Organized by one of our own, LT Deiro. Translate sentences written in a Star Wars language into English! Week #2 (1st Nov - 8th Nov 2020) will be out soon.
• Squadrons Completionist: A race for the entire TC on who will complete all the achievements of the Squadrons game first.
• TC PvP Shootout: Organized by AD Miles, COL Horus and CM EvilGrin. On every Saturday, starting at 22:00 GMT, a PvP shootout will take place.
• Everyone's a Critic: Flown a battle? Write a USEFUL review!
• TIE Corps in Battle 2020: Every month, there will be a full battle assigned to fly, from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA).

Notable Events:

• LCM MrShub Star Wars Streaming: Hosted by LCM Shub, streaming every Tuesday and Thursday.
• CM Baiet Star Wars and Star Conflict Streaming: Hosted by CM Baiet, several hours spread over the week.
• Alejandro's Youtube Corner: A place where COL Alejandro regularly uploads videos of his activities with the modded XWA.
• The TIE Pilot's Podcast: Hosted by COL Zekk Terrik and CM Jack Wynand.

Everyone is getting excited about the upcoming changes in SWS. EA for once did right by its player base. Time will tell of course. I am still holding out a glimmer of hope, that we will get a mission editor... eventually.
