Raise the Flag 2020 is live and we're just over a week in now. There's been a steady stream of BSFs, bonus comp submissions, general writing and graphics submissions, and even a good amount of SP reviews reaching my inbox. Excellent work so far! Current standings have the Warrior out in front with 4035 points, the Challenge in second with 1348, the Hammer in third at 896, and the Aggressor with just the TCCS on it at 169. There's still a lot of September to go, though, so we'll see what happens as the month progresses. Squadron Management 5 is now live thanks to COL Zekk Terrik! Several pilots have already taken it, too. It's been a long time coming, since SM/4 premiered in either 2009 or 2010 and we've made some pretty significant changes to some of the paperwork since then. For anybody interested in becoming a squadron commander, I'd recommend making some time to read through the brand new course notes and take the test. COL Terrik's even volunteered to grade all the tests personally and was given a Training Officer Assistant role to make it official. As they've been processing MP screenshots, the Combat Operations Office noticed some that weren't in line with what we were looking for and made another change. While we do want to encourage multiplayer activity especially with more than one EH pilot in a match, extremely short matches pose an issue because they're endlessly repeatable in MP and thus end up being able to compromise the value of other activities, mostly for Raise the Flag but also for the Legion of Skirmish in general and everything that the LoS contributes to. When you're able to choose the length of a minimum amount of time for a match, namely in XvT and XWA, the minimum needs to be five minutes per match. This one's mostly a concern for CMDRs+ since they're the ones filling out the evaluations, but I think it's worth mentioning publicly. What we do monthly is take stock of how much time a pilot has put in per month and award them a merit medal if they've reached a certain threshold. Iron Star awards represented competition participation previously, but this wasn't quite accurate in a few ways. Instead, we're now counting competition participation directly and trying to get some information back from the competition runners about who's participated in their comps. I've reached out to all the folks running ship- and Corps-level comps and have gotten some good information back, though I haven't heard from all of them and I've just sent them a reminder. |

REMINDERS | ||
If you're serving in a CMDR role or higher and know you'll be out of contact for longer than day or two, please notify your chain of command that you'll be on Leave. That way we can make arrangements to handle your duties while you'll be away. If you'd like to submit something for the newsletter, just attach the file to an email and send it to me. If it's something that's already been uploaded somewhere, just email me the URL. If you complete a new Imperial University course, you'll notice that your EH database profile gets updated automatically but not your TC database profile. The latter are updated manually, please give us a couple of days after your test is graded for the new course to appear in your TC profile before you contact us about it. |
