COMBAT OPERATIONS OFFICER'S REPORT #01 (2020.01) |
REPORTING OFFICER: Admiral Miles 'Tails' Prower, COO |
INTRODUCTION |
The
admiral had flown his TIE Defender Warspite
like it was a typical milkrun to Ullyr. Of course it was no milkrun by
any means but a change of station. He exchanged authorisation codes
with the VSDII Aggressor and
took his assigned place within the hangar bay. To the hangar crew's
surprise, Vice Admiral John T. Clark was on the deck, watching the
Amaran vulpinroid climb out. Prower reached down and unzipped a pouch
on his suit and clenched his teeth around the stem of his briar root
pipe before lighting it with a match. The human and the taller Amaran
looked at each other and exchanged salutes. 'It's good to see you again, Clark.' Prower rumbled, a mechanical accent added to his upper-class Imperial Standard by his vocoder. 'I only wish I had the time to give you a full briefing but the TCCOM is expecting me. But then again you've been a quick study with that fancy computer in your head.' Clark smiled. 'Colonel Silvius will ensure that the remaining tasks in transition will be handled.' 'Fleet Admiral Silvius actually.' Prower raised his ears with a small smile. 'I got the squawks enroute. He's getting the Warrior while Woody gets the Hammer. I know Plif was in want of a hammer for some nails, there must be quite a few nails to smash. That means I'll need a couple ADCs but I've already got two on the way. Major Doyon and Lieutenant Colonel Araujo of Beta and Alpha respectively. They've shown some creativity programming some interesting exercise problems alongside General Berkana on the Hammer. I'm sure they'll be especially creative and quick here assessing the simulator returns across the fleet.' 'They'll have to be quick, after all these pilots are hitting the sims regularly. Some hit them right after combat engagements! Lots of young lieutenants wanting to get their fix of excitement. The squadron commanders filing their post-mission tapes, the wing commanders and commodores trying to understand the enemy in preparation for the next engagement. Combat Operations arguably is the whetstone that sharpens the blade that is the pilot.' Clark advised. 'But it is Strategic Operations and Command that will tell us where that blade must go.' Prower acknowledged with a nod, offering his hand to the human. 'You'll do fine Clark. We'll do fine, we're partners in this. Just promise me one thing.' 'Oh? What is that?' Clark asked as he clasped the Amaran's hand. 'There's a bottle of whiskey that I've sent to your new desk. Enjoy it, that's an order from a superior ranking officer.' Prower teased gently. 'If there's anything you need, just ask.' 'Well,' Clark looked up at the fox's TIE Defender. 'Perhaps I might fly back to the Hammer in style?' 'She came from Epsilon, so she deserves to be brought home by an Epsilon pilot. I plan to break in one of these TIE Interceptors.' Admiral Prower mused. 'The fuzzy dice in there are for good luck.' -- Now I don't know about all of you but I surely didn't come from the Hammer, hyperspace a handful of AU and jump out of a TIE Defender to teach the Rebels lessons in manners. The Rebels don't have manners, they're the foot soldiers of a seperatist, law and order hating organisation and they need to be destroyed. That's why each and every Rebel we find wearing an orange flight suit is going to be taken prisoner or dead. The Rebels will talk about us and the Rebels will fear us. And when they close their eyes at night, they'll be tortured in their subconsciousness for what they have done and it will be the thoughts of us that they are tortured with. But I've got a word of warning for all of you would be aces. When you fly under my oversight, you take on a debt. A debt you owe me personally. Each and every pilot in the TIE Corps owes me 100 Rebel pilot helmets. And I want my helmets. And you will get me one hundred Rebel Alliance helmets taken from the heads of one hundred captured or dead Rebel pilots. Or you will die trying. |
