Fiction

Pete takes a step

Pete was talking on his holopod to a woman when he heard a knock on his office door.

“Alright, honey, I will see you soon.  I had better go, though. Duty calls.”  Pete terminated the transmission.  “Come in,” he called through the door, and opened it pressing a button on his desk.  “Ah, Fleet Admiral Plif, how are you doing?”

“I’m good, though, I came to ask you that, question, sir…”

“I’m doing quite well, better than I deserve actually.”

“That’s good, Pete, but it’s been a month since your last report.  Are you sure everything is ok?”

“Oh, yes, definitely.  However, I have been meaning to talk to you about that… Are you ready?

“Yes, go ahead.”

“No, I mean are you ready for this job… my desk…to be TIE Corps Commander…”

“Well… I think so, if I need to be…”

Plif, that was a rhetorical question, of course you are ready! You’ve been ready shortly after I announced you as the SOO.  You have been excellent as an SOO, and while I agonized over the decision at the time, you’ve made me realize that was the best decision of my career.  Now it’s time for a far easier, but equally good decision: to step down and name you as my successor and TIE Corps Commander.”

“Well, Sir, I’m honored.  Thank you.”

“Thank you, for all your loyalty and excellent service.  The Corps will be in good hands.  When do you want to take over?  I can stay on a bit, but I have a vacation I’d like to take at some point.”

“That’s up to you, Sir.”

“Alright then, We’ll make it a little over a week from now. Just enough time to announce it, and for you to move in to the office across the hall.  It’s been a pleasure serving with you Fleet Admiral Plif.” Pete extended his hand, and Plif shook it.

“Where will you go now, sir? You’re not retiring are you?”

“No, after vacation, it’s back to Kappa for me.  You’ll be me KMDR again, just like old times.  Well, sort of…”

“I’m glad your sticking around, sir.  It’s been an honor, and good luck.”

News

Over the last month, we have had SL BATUTA 1, SL Kire Losco, and SL Francois748 join the fleet from PLT Daedalus.  Welcome to all of you.  All three have been promoted to full Lieutenant by now as well, so congratulations!

Charlie X has also been promoted to LCM.  Congratulations to him!

Finally, on the promotion side, the COO, John T. Clark has been promoted to Vice Admiral!  Well-deserved VA Clark!

Oh, wait there is one more, and this one is just in… Charlie X then went and got himself promoted to CMDR of Theta Squadron and a full Commander!  Congratulations, and thanks for taking on an important leadership role!

COL Madon stepped down as Commander, of course, to focus on other things.  We look forward to reading his memoirs.

Speaking of stepping down to focus on other things, I will be doing the same, effective April 11th.  FA Plif will be taking my place as TIE Corps Commander.  I am confident that I am leaving the Corps in very capable hands.

XWA-TC 64: The Garuda

BSF’s are due by midnight GMT on April 30th.

Rules:

Every month, there will be a full battle from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA) assigned.  Pilots will fly each battle that they choose and BSF the battles to the TC database and forward the BSF email to Pete Mitchell.  If the pilot has earned a high score, BSF it and also send the pilot file to Pete Mitchell in case the BSF is not approved in time.  Please also forward the BSF confirmation to Pete Mitchell as well.

Each month the pilot with the highest score in each platform will earn 8 points.  The next highest score will earn 7, the next highest 6, then 5, then 4 and so on.  All submissions will earn at least 3 points.  Any mission high scores, will earn 1 bonus point, and any battle high scores will earn 2 bonus points.  High scores are determined at the time the BSF was submitted.  If a high score is beat by another pilot in the same competition that submitted after, both pilots will receive the bonus points.  If a pilot submits a BSF that would have been a high score, but was beat by another pilot that submitted before, no bonus points will be awarded to the second submission.  Points will accumulate for the year for more awards.

Participation points will also be tallied by ship and squadron.  One point per battle flown.  Flying participants of top participating ships and squadrons will earn extra rewards.

Conclusion

It has been an immense honor to serve the TIE Corps as a Commodore, SOO, and TCCOM.  Now it’s time for some much needed relaxation…
