Gamma Squadron Report

Weekly Report #4 – Submission date: September 25th 2011

Introduction

Welcome to another Gamma Squadron Report,

The third assignment of Operation: Razor’s Edge’s has reached its deadline yesterday. Congratulations to those who managed to fly for this phase of the competition, and especially to LC Tempest, who have achieved the highest score among the submissions with 438,315. I got second place with 433,090, and COL Zosite got 3rd with 408,484. On the individual missions, COL Zosite wins missions 1 and 4, COL Daniel Bonini wins mission 2, LC Tempest wins missions 3, 5 and 6. So, LC Tempest improves his advantage over the other competitors. Check the updated scoreboard in the Competition Center.

The fourth and last phase of the competition will be uncommon. Recently, I have had a mission submitted wrongfully. The assignment is to fly the mission which the pilot file has been BSF’ed for. Scoring on this assignment will be 10 points for the highest LL score, 5 for 2nd place and 3 for the 3rd. But to make it interesting, there’s more. You’ll also get 5 points for flying the right mission, 15 points if you outscore me and 40 points if you match my score perfectly, which is unlikely. Deadline is my next report. Scores are only valid if you fly the right mission.

Speaking of my next report, I will be out of town next weekend, so the report will be delayed a day. All missions due Sunday are thus postponed to Monday, October 3rd.

Flight 3’s “What if it was us?” was finished this week, with only one submission besides my own, from COL Zosite, who wins an IS-BW for his participation in the flying portion of the competition. Congratulations! There were no entries to the fiction section, so the IS-BR will not be awarded to anyone.

If you would like to travel to the past, the release date of Star Wars: The Old Republic has been announced as 12/20/2011.

Other than that, I believe it’s worthy of note the flying activity of LC Mark Schueler. He continues to perform admirably as you can see in his activity record, and makes his commander and his squadron proud. Keep up the great work!

Competition Center

* Operation: Razor’s Edge
Participants: Gamma Squadron – CMDR included, since competition was started by COL Master.
This competition has been started by COL Master. There were already 3 parts for this competition, and a fourth one is ongoing. The first part consisted of a trivia question regarding the origin of the name of the competition, which was answered right by me, granting me 5 points. Tempest and Impulse got 3 points for their answers. The second part was a flying assignment, which was anything you’d want from the compendium. COL Viper Pred submitted TIE-Free 35, I submitted XWA-Free 1, CM Impulse submitted TIE-Free 264, and LC Tempest submitted TIE-TC 201. The third assignment was to fly TIE-DB 13, which granted 13 points for LC Tempest, 6 points for COL Daniel Bonini and 5 points for COL Zosite. The fourth assignment is as follows:
Current Assignment: fly the mission that was wrongfully BSF’ed for the CMDR recently
Deadline: October 3rd
Scoring: Trivia points assigned by COL Master. Second segment will be one point for each mission flown, two if it’s a mission high score. Third assignment scoring was 10 points for top LL score, 5 points for second, 3 points for 3rd, and one point for each individual mission winner. Fourth phase scoring is:
Top LL score: 10 points
Second place: 5 points
Third place: 3 points
5 points for flying the right mission, 15 points for beating CMDR score, or 40 points for matching CMDR’s score exactly.
Awards: TBA
Score Board:
LC Tempest – 49 points
COL Daniel Bonini – 12 points
COL Zosite Konstyte Styles – 5 points
CM Impulse – 4 points
COL Viper Pred – 1 point

* What if it was us?
Participants: Gamma Squadron Flight 3 only!
Gamma Flight 3 pilots are to fly XWA-TC 62 – Outbreak. For every mission, they are to write one paragraph of fiction telling what the mission would be like if it was actually The Four Horsemen ™ that participated in the mission. If by any chance we are already in any particular mission, they can write about what we actually did, or should have done (so mission designers can portrait us properly next time). Fictions will be judged by humor, coolness, or whatever makes The Four Horsemen ™ look good...or bad. Grammar and spelling not to be an issue. Fictions will be judged by Gamma Flight 3 Leader (currently Gamma CMDR), who will also fly the battle, but won’t be eligible for the IS-BW.
Awards: IS-BW for battle top scorer and IS-BR for best fiction.
Deadline: Ended – COL Zosite wins flying section! No winners for fiction section.

* Master's Mighty Mission of the Week! - Redux
Start Date: February 28, 2011
End Date: December 30, 2011
Participants: So we must begin our long journey... Towards the lands of Awesomeo... Towards greatness....
Awards: Highest scorer after 4 rounds will win a IS-BW Any pilot who scores higher than me after 4 rounds will also receive a IS-BW. Medals only available to pilots within Gamma Squadron. Any entries from other pilots are welcome.
Description: In an effort to promote good missions, lots of medals and good old competitive spirit each week I’m going to nominate a free/battle/map. After four weeks (end of each month) the scores will be totaled. Highest scorer will win a medal as well as any pilot who beats my own score.

Quotes of the Week

- None this week

Dark Lord of the Week

The highly prestigious title of Dark Lord of the Week is only given to the person who has most advanced the success of the Squadron, amused the CMDR, or slipped me the most $5 notes in a brown paper bag. This week's winner is:

LC Mark Schueler, for his flying activity! Great job!

Ewok of the Week

Yub Yub!

Every story has a hero, every journey has a first step, every Fleet has a pilot who's about as much use as an ashtray on a speeder bike. This weeks's Prize Ewok is none other than:

Conclusion

In the aspect of communication, this week has been pretty slow compared to the previous ones. Let’s try to improve that once more.

Flying activity is still high, basically due to LC Schueler’s activity and LC Tempest’s participation in competitions. We need to improve that as well.

Respectfully submitted,
