INTRO

I’m Commander Alejandro Araujo, the new Alpha Squadron’s CMDR. First of all, I’d like to greet and salute each one of you fellow officers in the EH. I’ve been in many imperial clans since 1997 but Emperor’s Hammer is the one I’d like to call home. After 10 years of being in reserves I felt it was time to come back and resume active service. Emperor’s Hammer provided me with an experience that actually dwells deeper into what TIE Fighter taught me first: the Empire and the Imperial Military. Protocols, procedures, objectives, assignments, missions, strategies, tactics and above all, dedication, courage and loyalty to the New Order became something natural to me. I loved being a pilot and playing RTS since 1994-1995 and I still do.

Sadly, RL took over and events led me to be transferred to reserves but on the bright side, my career and my jobs gave me some extra experience and a valuable learning in regards of protocols, reports and organization which I plan to put in good use both here and on my RL projects.

I simply decided I needed the Empire back in my life so I just asked to return to active duty and I cannot be thankful enough to all for the warm reception here: the Command Staff, the Admiralty, the chain of command and the few FL and FM I’ve contacted so far. I really feel like I’m back home. AD Pete Mitchell, thanks for receiving me sir *S*.

I offered myself for this position since it is the least I can do to help EH keeping the activity. I haven’t been online as much as I wanted to but I’m demanding myself to increase efficiency in order to give EH the service it

deserves.

As for Alpha, with my previous command experience from Iota and all the RL lessons I received and the invaluable help of AD Miles Prower and COL Blackheart, I do have the intention of taking it to the next level.

And as for those who do not know me, I’m an oldtimer. I’m available for TIE/XvT/BoP/XWA and many other SW games. I also like ST and loved games like Bridge Commander, Armada and Starfleet Command. You can find me on both Telegram and Discord. I’m on 24/7 if anybody wants a match or two. Be warned: I might be laggy as hell hehehe. With that said, onto the news!

Weekly Shootouts

As part of an effort to reinvigorate our competitive spirit, I have set up in conjunction with the COO, a special set of competitions for both the Hammer and the TIE Corps as a whole. These are called the Weekly Hammer Shootout and the Weekly Ship Shootout respectively. These Shootouts focus on head to head teamplay with squadrons facing squadrons in X-Wing vs TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance.

These competitions share the following goals and rules in common:

?There must be at least 3 pilots at a minimum for a squadron to be considered present. Only 'present' squadrons will compete formally in the shootouts. Individual pilots may play afterwards in our free sessions held afterwards.

?Squadron commanders will be queried weekly by the COM to determine attendance and best date/time for the event. The event will not have a specific set date per week to accomodate as many as we can.

?For the Weekly Ship Shootouts, matchups are Hammer vs Warrior. The winning squadron is the one with the highest culmulative kill count. Individual pilot performance will also be awarded.

?Weekly Hammer Shootouts will be fought the same way with the individual squadrons of the Hammer. The winning squadron is the one with the highest culmulative kill count and individual pilot performance will be awarded as well.

?Awards for both consist of IS-GW for top pilot per month, IS-SW for participating member of the winning squadron, possibly a DFC based on performance. Yearly the top pilot gets an IS-PW, IS-GW for the winning squadron, SW for #2 and BW for #3

COMMANDER’S ANALYSIS

I’ve spent some time studying the club’s status quo and I think we’re in a dire situation with the dwindling numbers amongst our ranks. I understand the games are old, that since 2000 or so, PC gamers likely won’t expend the extra time and effort to acquire a joystick to play a few games with it, and that games skillswise demanding are generally not on the interest of new generations but ironically, people are eager for games that actually test them. We also have ways to allow new life into main platforms with the joystick emulators and 64- bit tools to run them, etc., so I plan to use those in our behalf to increase activity.

However, I’ve a few additional tricks up my sleeve to increase activity that might actually work. This includes bringing in fresh recruits, competitions and a few suggestions I’d respectfully and humbly submit to the admiralty’s consideration but basically it is all about the intention of keeping EH alive as the awesome club it is.

SIGNOFF

Respectfully submitted:

Commander Alejandro Araujo
