“Ok, time to get to work gentlemen!” said CM Den Darkhill over the comm channel.  “First drill.  Flight 1 vs Flight 2, head to head.

“Roger, Flight 2 headed  out”

“Mitchell, on my wing”

“Roger, I’m there”

LT Pete Mitchell followed low and to the right of Darkhill approaching Flight 2.

“Commander, we have 6 new scanner contacts 6 klicks out.  Make that 12.  Repeat, a whole squadron just came out of hyperspace, Sir.  X-wings and Y-wings” reported Five.

“I knew you’d try to wiggle your way out of going head to head, 5!  Alright, drill over, move to intercept.  Let’s see what these guys are up to.  Flight 1 with me on the wishbones.  Flights 2 and 3 on the X-wings”

“Roger that.  They are targeting us.”  Said Five

CM Darkhill responded calmly.  “Roger, assume hostile.  Engage.”

“Shoot first and ask questions later, I like it!” exclaimed Pete.

Pete continued his path to the Y-wings.  Darkhill chimed in on the flight channel.  “I’ve got the leader.”

Pete clicked his mic in affirmation.  “I’ve got the second.  Almost in range.”  Pete lined up his Y-Wing in his sights, and watched the range numbers.  When it hit 1.6, he fired his lasers.  He tracked his shots right into the opposing fighter, and just as he saw the first one hit, his fighter shook and alarms went off.

“*&$&%!  Get out of there Pete!”

Pete had already jinked and got out of the line of fire and cursed himself.  Checking his systems, he read 30% on his shields.  All other systems checked out.  “I’m ok.  Down to 30% shields, though.”

“What were you thinking, going straight on with a Y-Wing like that?!  They may be slow, but they have shields and firepower.”

“Sorry, Sir.  It won’t happen again.”  Pete had already circled around behind his attacking Y-wing and lined up his shot again.  A couple seconds of firing turned it into a ball of fire.

“Much better angle of attack, Pete.  Try linking up your lasers and ion systems, though.  You’ll deal more damage and not have to linger on target.”

“Roger.”  Pete had found his next target and was circling around.  He was head to head again.  “Ok, let’s try this again,” he said to himself.  Pete did a barrel roll, then one in the opposing direction while lining up his sights and took a shot.  Hit.  He rolled around again and almost lined up another shot, but ran out of distance.  He quickly rolled and pulled his craft around behind the Y-wing and took another shot that obliterated it.  “Woohoo, that’s two!”

Just then his missile lock alarm went off.  “Crap!”  Pete spun into the X-wing targeting him as a concussion missile just missed him and circled around for another pass.  Immediately, Pete lined up his shot and fired a volley at the X-wing, snap rolled to dodge its shot, and fired again.  The X-wing blew into pieces.  Pete had no time to celebrate as the missile was on his way back, and they didn’t load countermeasures for this training mission.  He was able to dodge it one more time, circle, and blast it with his lasers, though.

“Nice moves, Pete!”  Yelled CM Darkhill over the squad channel.  “That is why you are here!”

“Remaining hostiles bugging out, sir,” reported Five.

“Let them go, but track their trajectory, so we can figure out where they came from.  Alright, men, let’s head back to the cantina.  Pete is buying!”

First, please congratulate Nel Folling on his promotion to LT!

In TCPL, we had a TIE again with CPT Rando and COL Gyssler!

This past Thursday, I finally got to fly a bit and I joined Plif, Rando, and Miles for a bit of Coop XWA.  Miles only made it for one, but we definitely would have lost that one without him taking out the mission critical containers!

Another month is in the books, so it’s MSE time again!  Let’s get those in fast!

Finally, I will start another leave on November 6 as I pack up my desktop and drive across the country.  I’ll be back on the 19th.  I’ll still be somewhat available, but working off my laptop with limited time.  Of course, Plif will take charge as I’m out.  This should be the last full leave for a bit.

Round 22 Assignments:

TIE-Free 82: Farewell to Renegade - Current HS = 34,092

XvT-Free 40: Death of a Jedi - Current HS  = 41,400

XWA-Free 41: Strike at Firixon - Current HS = 15,985

Rules:

This competition is similar to TIE Corps on patrol, but it is handicapped to make it accessible to more pilots.  Every TWO weeks, there will be a free mission from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA) assigned.  Pilots will fly each mission that they choose and BSF the battles to the TC database and forward the BSF email to Pete Mitchell.  If the pilot has earned a high score, BSF it and also send the pilot file to Pete Mitchell in case the BSF is not approved in time.

BSF emails/pilot files will be due by 5 pm Pacific/8 pm Eastern/1 am London on November 13.

Each week the pilot with the highest handicap score (expressed as a % of the high score) in each platform will earn 4 points.  The next highest score will earn 3, the next highest 2, and all other submissions will earn 1.  If the winning pilot in a platform also beat the high score (without the handicap added), that pilot will earn 5 points for that platform.  It is possible for a pilot to be the only pilot to beat the high score, and not win that platform.  If for example, pilot A got 90% of the high score and has a 25% handicap for a total of 115%, and pilot B got 105% of the existing HS (and earned a new HS) with a handicap of 5% for a total of 110%, Pilot A would win the platform for the week for 4 points and pilot 3 would only earn 3 points. Points will accumulate for the week, month, and year for more awards.

Handicaps will be calculated as follows:

The average score in the platform as a percent of the high scores will be calculated as an average of all scores on that platform since the beginning of the League (avg).  The handicap will be calculated as the difference between the average and 100%.  For example, if a pilot’s average score in TIE is 75% of the HS, his handicap will be 100%-75%=25%.  If a pilot then scored 85,000 pts on a mission with an existing HS of 100,000 points, his handicap score would be 85% + 25% = 110%.

*The first round any pilot flies in any platform will not have a handicap added as the pilot will not have an average.  Therefore, the first round, there are no handicaps, only scratch scores.

**I reserve the right to create a maximum handicap.  At this point, it is 75%.

Awards:

Annual:

IS-PW/GW/SW for 1st 2nd and 3rd total points for the year.  (at least 5 participants)

IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd and 3rd total points for the year in each platform (at least 4 participants)

IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd and 3rd most improved averages over the year in each platform (at least 4 participants, must have flown at least 10 missions)

Monthly:

IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd and 3rd total points for the month (at least 3 participants).

Weekly:

IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd total points for the week (at least 3 participants).

Description:

This is the easiest fiction competition ever! You only need to come up with an idea, not write a whole fiction out. Each week, please submit your idea for the short weekly fiction in the TCCOM report each week by Sunday at midnight GMT. Your idea can be as simple as a sentence or more of an outline. Do NOT write a whole fiction. The winning idea will be turned into a work of fiction by the TCCOM for his report. The author of the winning idea will win an IS-SR and 2 points towards the annual and monthly standings. The second best idea will earn 1 point towards the annual and monthly standings.

Ideas will be judged on criteria such as: originality, relevance to recent events and previous TCCOM fictions, ease of turning into a short fiction, and other whims of the TCCOM. Any ties for the monthly or annual totals will be broken by selecting the best idea over the time period as judged by 3 members of the TIE Corps Admiralty Board that are not part of the tie.

How to participate: Each week, email your idea directly to me.
